I actually really value his ability to "filter" your topdeck, since you can use Grim Flayer to "loot" your way through your library to try and find the answer you need. that being said, I think he might have a tougher time connecting early on, but he's definitely not a bad 3 or 4 drop. i like it! but not sure what i'd cut in my (380) golgari section Frown

My Secret Santa gift arrived today! In the package, together with a lovely handwritten note, there were some very cool things: (The picture quality is not great, due to a bad cellphone camera / bad lighting combo, but everything was truly appreciated!)

    Thanks, Santa! \o/

Hope you enjoyed it! Wink trust me, once you get the power bug, its impossible to go back! hope you give it a shot!

probably goes without saying but monastery mentor is the stone cold nuts in a powered cube. i ran a jeskai deck with mentor recently and picked up 3(!!!!) moxen and i took over games incredibly easily.

you forgot avalanche riders! i think he misses the cut at 360, but definitely recommended at 450.

Wow! So earlier this week I received a package from CFB and I was already over the moon with a bunch of cards that I had been dying to get for my cube. And then today, I find out that my Secret Santa sent out a SECOND package from Korea (hint hint). Check out the goods!

I can't believe how much stuff Santa threw my way this year. Between the stack of Korean tokens, the foil basics (which I've already sleeved up and am using), and all the cube staples I'd asked for, I am incredibly thankful and grateful to Santa this year! The only thing that probably won't get any use is the Christmas mix CD. Who has a CD player these days???

Spike Rogue, I am calling you out as my secret santa this year. Thanks so much for the incredible haul!

PS. Check out that pack foil courser toot

its my dream that they add enough support for a "6th color" in cube that we can justify adding Wastes to the basic mana pool... and that mono brown decks become an incredibly delicate but powerful machine, just like how Kozilek/Karn EDH decks were before the introduction of Wastes.

    one can dream...

I got some insane cube pimpage this year that i'm extremely happy and thankful for - thanks santa! unfortunately i was so excited that i sleeved and shuffled the cards into my cube straight away :p i'll try and dig them out tomorrow and get them all together for a nice photo.

on another note, i'm waiting on a straggler cards to arrive at my place and i'll ship out. might be a while to reach my giftee but it'll be worth it!

fair enough. i like the idea of being able to randomly combo the miracles with vampiric/mystic tutors, but the interaction probably isn't common enough. thanks for the advice

    hey wtwlf,

i noticed you've cut all the miracle cards (terminus, bonfire, entreat) from your cube. were they underperforming even at 540? i was doing a sweep through my list recently and settled on terminus as a potential cut, but im surprise you removed bonfire and entreat as well. they always seemed to play well with the mystic/vampiric tutor + sensei's top.dec. which cards did they get replaced by?

i had a similar idea when i first started putting my cube together. to focus my thinking, i tried to support classic standard archetypes, and some naturally cool fits came up; things like astral slide (cycling) and madness. check those decks out!

i only need to cut one card to fit this back into my cube... im thinking verdict? though you recommended two cuts. do you have another WB card that i'm missing that should go there?

i'm glad this topic was brought back up. couldn't you just run your wishboard as whatever leftover cards you have from drafting? the way I play is winchester drafting with extra packs to make decks smoother - I think running wishes would be a fun way to diversify the tutors.

help me make a cut for my WB section! I run a 380 powered list so things are fairly tight.

    sorin, lord of innistrad
    gerrard's verdict
    lingering souls
    vindicate
    shambling vent
    scrubland
    marsh flats
    godless shrine

I recently acquired a Shambling vent for my cube, and i'm struggling with a cut decision. is the right cut here gerrard's verdict? or am i missing something else?
