Yeah, I've been using Scroll Rack to mitigate the "drawing rebels" problem*. Maybe I'll drop a Sanitarium into my manabase, too.

*Except for Changeling Hero - that card always ends up in my hand no matter what I do. It's infuriating.

You know, looking at the red Implement, I think that's the first time I recall a card referring to itself as "it" and not its card name.

Fireforger's Puzzleknot used the same templating.

In that case, expect me to forget all about it and make the same remark for the next unplayable cheap red trinket. Because apparently that's what I do. lol

I think I'd rather have Cathars' Crusade for 3WW, since it's a similar effect and can be triggered multiple times per turn.

But like you said, it's more a question of how meaningful that effect would be in the first place. Like, if you want bigger Spirits, why not just cast more enchantments? :p

I just hope the red one is reasonable, because casting a sweeper right before LE is a special kind of terrible. And I'm not about to stuff my deck with WW cards in the off chance I draw Living End.

Not so much a strategy in itself, but I have to voice my intense hatred for Grand Abolisher. Just let me activate my abilities!

Overall a very good event for me, though, almost every person asked me why I didn't just play dredge, which I did not know was a deck in the format as I have been away for some time. Is that deck really so much better as to make it so that I shouldn't be playing LE?

If someone saw me playing LE and insinuated that I should be playing Dredge instead, I'd have to suppress the urge to just drop them with a left.

This is mostly my stance as well, but what are the pros/cons of the decks that it would bring up this comparison?

Dredge doesn't really want to interact with their opponent unless they're pointing a lethal Conflagrate at their head.

Living End is more interactive (i.e., wrathing the opponent, blowing up their lands), but isn't nearly as explosive.

  • posted a message on Accused of taking long turns in Commander and getting criticized. Unjust?
I try to be aware of how long my turns take. There's a reason I don't play Mizzix storm very often anymore.

That said, my group is usually pretty understanding if there's a complicated board to be navigated, or a bunch of math to do. The only time we really harp on one another is when people take long turns without doing anything.

Also, things that bother me even though they shouldn't and I'm terrible for letting them: People who have to re-read what their cards do every time they draw them, then study the board for five minutes to figure out how the card they just drew interacts with it. Come on. You didn't read the goddamn card when you put it in your deck?! UGH.

I can't believe I didn't think to look in here to see if anyone played this game before now.

For those who aren't aware, World of Tanks (WoT) is a free-to-play MMO featuring early to mid-20th-century era tanks. It's similar to other war games, such as Armored Warfare and War Thunder. As of December 2016, WoT can be played on PC, XBox360/XBox One, and PS4. They also have a mobile version.

I've been playing this game for a while now and it's been a ton of fun. I play on PC and am always looking for people to platoon with!

If you play WoT or are interested in trying it out, join the conversation!

Why does John Avon suck at MtG?

    Because he only draws lands.

I feel like Soul Burn was originally intended to be a strictly worse Drain Life, but then the flavor police stepped in:

Designer: Soul Burn is ready for print, boss.

Flavor Police: So lemme get this straight... you can only spend black mana on it?

Designer: Yeah. It's like Drain Life, except that card was super busted and not at all the result of broken fast mana like Dark Ritual.

    F.P.: What?

Designer: Nevermind. So what do you think?

F.P.: Well, it says "burn" in the title... we were sort of hoping it would involve fire somehow.

Designer: But it's a black card.

F.P.: I don't care. This is 1995. Flavor over everything. You should be allowed to spend red mana on it.

    Soul Burn

This is the kind of card that made 1995-me, a non-native English speaker, not want to play Magic.

Man, you must have hated Homelands. Like, more than most people.

The hidden cost to using Helium Squirter's ability is to make one of those raspberry "pbbft" sounds when you declare a target.

    Hey, Tev!

How's that Gray Merchant of Asphodel been treating you? It doesn't get talked about a lot in Rumpy's thread, but I've had one in my list for a while and it's been SUPER impressive.
