Roon is great if you are going to either present enough threats or protect him. He basically acts as another saving blink spell on a stick. I run a heavy blink deck. I don't need Roon on the field, but when I can get him to the field and to stay, its basically impossible at that point to remove him.
I built my blink deck more as a grind out a victory kind of a deck, it slowly builds up board position and with that resilience while stopping other shenanigans through destroying lands / artifacts / enchantments that have a potential to shift the game to far away from me.
Also just because sales doubled, doesn't mean locations doubled. In fact its more reasonable to assume there are considerably less then 3000 new stores to handle double the sales. Probably talking well over 100,000 copies.
I am seriously considering removing Phyrexian Tyranny and Spiteful Visions in my version, which leans a bit towards a slower control-oriented build, with my reason being that I just can't "go off" without killing myself as well.
I have been debating them as well. I don't mind them when I have something out like Tainted Aether and I can engage in a race to the bottom without creatures becoming too much of an issue. Honestly they have stood in my list because I don't really have anything worthwhile to replace them with, maybe once I get a Chrome Mox and a Lionseye Diamond.
Why run Jace Memory Adept? If you think you can protect a Planeswalker with all the anti-creature package, isn't Tamiyo much better suited to the task? For 1 additional turn you get a emblem that is going to let you wheel for as long as you have mana. Tamiyo will also at least attempt to protect herself and can net you cards if you are hurting for a wheel.
The NYC Magic Meetup that gets together on Mondays at 53rd and Lexington is loaded with casual EDH / CMDR players also if that is what you are looking for. There is also a mix of people playing other formats, legacy, modern, standard, etc. and trading.
NYC has been pretty lucky when it comes to places to play MTG over the years.
I run Conspiracy in my similar Oloro build for infinite token creation. I had not realized Chainer was worded that way. I could end up keeping everything I resurrected, very interesting.
How is Dismiss Into Dream working for you? Sun Droplet seems odd here. I get that if you keep Oloro alive or Drogskol Reaver, then its another draw, but do you have much luck actually keeping him on the field for Droplet to be worth it? Especially considering all the draw you already have, a card that may not net you a draw seems kind of iffy.
I would think an Oloro deck that is Stax based would be attacked early, not just because of Oloro gaining life, but if the Stax player sets up the game is all down hill and slow from there out.
I don't run my Oloro as Stax but as life gain / life loss effects, which doesn't get too much one off attacks, largely because people don't see it worth it. Why attack for 2 on turn 2 when its going to be completely negated. Which is obviously bad thinking.
Also I cut Hive Mind from my deck, as much as I want to play it. Everyone may get a wheel when you play one, but everyone gets a counterspell too. You'll have to decide if you want that much chaos.
Worse case scenario is only 1 wheel goes off. In fact it helps a ton because without a Hive Mind the only wheel would be countered. It is expensive, but after winning a game and forcing a draw in another one, I have personally received good use out of it.
I find the tutors to be kind of underwhelming since there is so much redundancy in the deck.
I ran into the same issue, especially since you usually end up with another wheel effect in hand after a wheel, so tutoring when you have a wheel, or to guarantee a wheel, seems to be a waste often. In fact you may then end up with 2 and put 1 to waste.
Tainted Aether was an all star both times I got to play the deck, not only will it eat removal before all else, even a Bloodchief Ascension, but if it doesn't, it just grows in advantage as they sac lands and can not generate tokens.
Second Breathstealer's Crypt, this card was also an all star. Gives you a heads up what everyone else has, and removes the threat of creatures unless people are willing to go further into the hole to play them.
how is curse of echo suppost to help here?
the effect isn't mandatory, so casting it on yourself doesn't make sense. or am i missing something?
i build a more casual nekusar deck and its a blast to play! extremely funny things include:
consecrated sphinx / curiosity on nekusar / notion thief + howling mine / font of mythos / wheel
possibility storm + forced fruition
bunch of mana / mind over matter + wheels
I find people are often willing to wheel for a new hand, might depend on your playgroup. Especially if someone is practically dead they might often be fine with, or are playing dredge or some sort of reanimation based deck, etc.
I am surprised so many people run Notion Thief doesn't it end your ability to win if they just keep it alive?
Do you play Megrim and Liliana's Caress? They do the job just as well and harder to steal/kill. Although not as effective with Time Spiral or any other similar shuffle effect.
Curse of Echoes and Hive Mind actually sound really funny to play a wheel on.... I might have to pick those two up now.
There are so many cards I wanna jam into this deck Idk what to do
I did run both actually. They did not do much damage, but actually ate a ton of hate that would have taken out Anvil of Bogardan or Bloodchief's Ascension even sooner. People were more worried about those 2 then the incremental life gain and damage coming off the Ascension and Anvil, so they didn't get to stick around long.
Love the decklist, ran a similar version recently and it won 1 game and caused a table draw the second, thanks to Hive Mind + Time Reversal. Nekusar got a ton of hate, but with all the ramp it was too easy to just play him again. I actually had him taken at the end of the game I won, but was able to drop the Psychosis Crawler and get a Winds of Change through to win for the last points of damage.
I also opted not to play Notion Thief, largely because the deck doesn't have many avenues to victory, so cutting the wheels out of the damage equation didn't really work for me. In testing I found myself screwing over myself in the long run. Plan to pick up a Curse of Echoes also, came up in another game, and thought it was a must have for Nekusar.
I second the Vicious Shadows angle. However I don't like Fecundity, anything that is giving your opponents more chances to slam into a board wipe is a no no for a token deck.
Kind of surprised you would cut Xenagos seeing as you pay 4 mana to play him, but if he was following any larger token producer he is a net gain. You can run a Nim Deathmantle loop if you are looking for a win condition, or just infinite tokens, which would go to support the idea of In the Web of War, or Ogre Battledriver.
Also I am not a fan of the lower costing token producers, they don't really do anything. By the time Bloodline Keeper is online you would have played Avenger 2 turns prior. Also Ashnods Altar turns on the big guys considerably sooner.

Breathstealer's Crypt turned out to be really useful as well as Tainted Aether.
