  • posted a message on Prophet of Kruphix, flashing in creatures, the stack & overloading Counterflux
Back on to your original question.

If the opponent chooses to play each creature in response to the previous one, while holding priority, which can be done as they all have flash, then yes it is possible to overload a counterflux and counter them all.

However what most players would do, would be to play one creature spell let it resolve, then play another and so forth. In this case each of the spells has resolved so if you wanted to counter with counterflux you would only be able to counter the most recent spell.

Yes it is always the spells controller but as stated earlier you can't redirect damage to your own planeswalker so if you cast earthquake (sorry my phone won't autocard) you can't choose to hit your own planeswalker but you can choose to hit your opponents

There is a slight difference between your two secenerios

In the later the creature must stay around till the combat damage step to be able to deal damage, this applies to both attacking or blocking creatures, so if you remove them from combat, bounce kill etc, before this step they will not do damage.

However once a creature is declared an attacker or blocker its too late to stop it. That means abilitys that trigger when the creature attacks or blocks will go off, and creatures that are blocked by this creature are treated as blocked.

So simply you can remove an attacker anytime before the damage step to prevent recieving damage, however if you want to prevent a creature being declared an attacked or blocker you need to do so pre-emptivly before the declarce attackers/blockers step

So I just started back and playing again in standard and I have the cards to put together both re-animator type build and a jund mid deck but I done really want to have both- Mainly for money reasons, so if I was planning to keep one sell one which would be the best way to do this.

    Hello all

Firstly sorry if this is the wrong place to post wasnt too sure were to put but Im alittle confused.

I have been playing round on MTGO for awhile now and have a few decks, and I have come accross so money so I thought it would be fun to get together a legacy deck.

I do know it will cost a bit and I am not planning on dropping a whole lto of money straight away but I am very keen to get it going.

So I was jsut wanting to knwo whats the best way to get these cards, most notably the land base and lions eye diamonds.

I have found them in some shops etc, but they are quite expensive and when I purchased a playset of Huntmasters for standard I wasnt able to do it all in one transacation as I was limtied to onyl 75 tickets in one trade.

Now does that mean I will ahve to take a risk and give 75 tickets to a person/bot with no gaurentee I will be able to get the card on the second trade?

I did note that I could buy other cards and trade them in wtih tickets but that also seemed like it would mena I would end up paying more than buying it straight out. Note I do have some decks and a few spare cards but nothing of major value that Im willing to part with.

So I guess my question is how do people go about doing this all? Is there any easy way to just buy with a credit card?

Any ideas would be very helpful thank you

    Hello all

I have been reading through this premier for awhile and I am thinking that I will finally start investing into this deck.

Now I jsut wanted to know I have seen some lists etc but I want to give it a good trial before I sink my money into it and I would like to ask what a basic lsit is, over time I plan to do some re-working but what are the most common type of lists that are played these days?

Is this green splash really necessary in the side board and have people turned away from burning wish these days?

Please help a newbie out I really wanna get into this deck and jsut need some good advise for starting out

    Quote from Klarc
Not exactly. The first part of playing a spell is to announce it and put it on the stack. Paying the cost is actually the last part.

My apologies you are correct appears I had that a little mixed up

The first part of playing a spell, regardless of location its cast from, is paying the costs and putting it onto the stack its only after that you have priority to activate an ability by which time the card is no longer in the graveyard.

While the stack does resolve top down for the souls to be on the stack it cant be in the graveyard, as commandeer just said

Sword of war and piece does not have protection from white.

It grants protection from white to the creature using it but the sword it's self does not.

Ok so I posted here awhile back and I have been looking through decklist and checking the MTGO lists etc.

I am thinking about giving a storm deck a test run but it seems there are a few of the about, would someone be able to help me work out how Ad nausum Tendrils and The Epic storm as well as similar list are different or the same.

Like game plan seems similar to me but would kinda like to get further advise before making a choice

  • posted a message on responding to Falkenrath Aristocrat's ability
Yes abilities dont resolve until all players have passed priority so you are more than able to respond to his ability- As Grath has said you should call a judge in this situation.

However he may have it mixed up with the fact you cant spear the 1/1 he saced to prevent the ability, but yes when in doubt call a judge

Hello so I am thnking about building a legacy deck. I was going to make one just sink some funds into it but I really dont know much about the format.

I was looking through the decklists and I would perfer more control or combo.

I like dregdge, hightide ad enchantress but dont know enough to make a long term decision.

Any help would be much apreciated, or even suggestions for decks that I didnt see my self

For reference I am currently playing:
    Jund- Standard
    Frites- Standard
    Living End- Modren

    Thanks

  • posted a message on Planeswalker Ability Question
That means that if I play my Jace, the Mind Sculptor and activate his plus two ability you cant respond to kill him with a lightning bolt as the adding of counters is a cost just like tapping mana, but you can respond to the ability it self by perhaps changing the top cards of your library

  • posted a message on Priority for instants.
First if he declares attackers he taps to attack as part of this you dont receive priority in between, if you want to prevent creatures from attacking you must do before declare attackers phase.

If the player did as you said then yes he was short cutting to say I cast one retain priority and then cast another so your lightning bolt would kill the creature.

However its not my place to disargee with a judges ruling as I wasnt there and Im only hearing your side of the story. But it pays to be clear with everything clear communication can help avoid issues.

If you confirm with him "so your holding priority and casting the second straight after?" and he agrees then he cant complain but yes if you have an issue call a judge straight away and get clarification.
