I had a quick question about Oran-Rief, the Vastwood. I was wondering if I combine this with a persist creature, sacrifice the creature, then tap Oran-Rief to get the +1/+1 counter during my main phase. Assuming I had a second Oran-Rief, could sacrifice it again.
IN other words, can I activate two Oran-Riefs on the same turn for the same creature with persist. Thanks in advanced!
I looked through the first few pages on the Rulings thread and couldn't find the and could not find the answer I needed. Anyways, if anyone can help, for rooftop storm if its supposed to be 0 cost for zombies or is it 0 colorless cost for zombies meaning you spend mana for those that require a color. Thanks in advance.
Oh. I apologize for the lack of knowledge of the changing on the rules. I was referring to the persist deck with Juniper Order Ranger . I just wanted to know if a persist deck would still work since I wanted to use it for casual games. Thank you for the expedient responses and feedback. It has been very beneficial to my gaming experiences. =D
I would say replace venser's journal for consecrated sphinx and trade some islands for reliquary towers. Sphinx helps you draw giving you the big hands you need and the towers are a way to have no maximium hand size keeping a journal ability basically. I think card draws are more important for you than the life gain from the journal.

I had a quick question about creatures gaining shroud after enchanting. For example, an opponent arrests my sosuke, son of seshiro and then I play kashi-tribe elite. Does arrest go away or does it stay on sosuke?
I think it would be probably one of the better options since you would want to avoid the stack so an agro deck would probably be one of the easiest to learn. Like mentioned before, tribal decks are good to show card synergy but he might miss out on other mechanics.
Did you ever think of just playing Mycosynth Lattice? I think it would be a lot easier and would allow you to easily destroy more than just one thing a turn.
Agreed but i would probably try to work both liquimetal and mycosynth lattice giving your deck another option if either one keeps getting blown up.
Shattering Spree could be very good here as it can kill multiple artifacts for very cheap mana wise and its budget friendly.
shattering spree is nice if you can keep making them into artifact during the same turn. Your going to either need mana to fuel the shattering spree and transmuter or a way to continually untap liquimetal coating. Agreed that it is very budget friendly :D.
There's a lot of decks here that I can't really comment on since I don't know how to run them very well. For your blue pseudo mill deck, if you splash black it gives a lot of other options like haunting echoes, mind sludge, and other mill friendly cards. If you want to stick to mono blue, maybe consider adding two more synods or another tezz. Hedron crab is also another good choice.
For your goblin deck, no goblin warchief? What about mob justice since it basically doubles as a warstrike. Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician is nice to because since goblins are that big, they tend to get chump blocked. Instead, how about making your 1/1 goblins blocked by 0/4 or 2/2 creatures blow up taking out the both of you. Just a thought.
This was one of the first decks that my friend made and was hoping to improve it for casual play nights. Being a less 'seasoned' player compared to many of you, I come hoping for opinions and feedback. Thank in advance.
The original idea was to have creatures with sacrificing abilities to trigger the queen and then bring things back with vigor mortis.
As the deck grew, I opted for more heavy hitters such as gaea's revenge, ob noxilis, and liege. Friend would like to keep the gleancrawlers for flavor. The ob noxilis has been a pain to play against when it does hit the table. There are several cars I was already going to most likely ask them to remove such as quicksand, baloth woodcrasher, and the abyssal spectre. Also, I was going to suggest to use explore instead to mana ramp.
Other things that my friend has at their disposal are a playset of [c/]liliana vess[/c], playset of platinum angel, and an extra liege of tangle. I'm thinking its probably going to be some sort of agro so they can keep gleancrawler. Is there any other type of deck that would be fun to play with the cards that they already own?
I would agree so. Isochron sceptor is pricey for me so I had to go with a more budget friendly deck. I was able to buy the deck for under 25USD. (I had a spinner in my collection already)
I'm trying to make a similar deck and is in the casual threads. The problem I see is that against faster decks, I've been testing against white weenie, it's hard to set up. I'm debating about the myrs you have as it is good for chump blocking.
Here is my current list. With my decklist, it gives you a different way to stall. Like mentioned above, Sensei's does help dig. Also, since I use march of the machines , I can't use artifact lands like you. Thoughtcast is a plus but you can always substitute in ponders IMO (playtesting ponders).
Halimar Depths also help me dig. I was also considering substituting a steel hellkite for one of the hoardsmelters in case you can't draw your bombs but it doesn't seem like you would have that problem with 6 fatties.
Shivan Reefs are a giant plus. Too bad I'm working with a budget as I am a poor college student.;) (Yes I know they only cost about 2-3USD) Happy building!

I was just wondering why people said 520.5n is dead thanks to alara. Was there an update to the +1/+1 counter and -1/-1 counter ruling?
