I'm surprised people are so eager to cut chalices. I would give it relevancy in more than 40% of matches as it always feels like it's shutting down something in every deck. The last time I ran Mono U in a tournament people treated it as a card they HAD to answer each time it came out.
These seem pretty sporadic. You'd think the flash sales would align with holidays and such but that doesn't seem to the case at all. Does anyone know if there's an advanced warning that goes out about these?
I've been running 2 Ugin MB for a while now and that feels really, really good.
I also can't decide between snapcaster and torrential gearhulk. Hulk boy is awesome with dismember, is a fatty, and also fuels thirst. Snap is low cmc to help with the curve and way more versatile. Presently, I'm on snap as I'm trying to cut back on 6+ CMC cards a bit
Grats Nekros, that list is super cool looking ! I love seeing tech from the past. You definitely have some new options that can replace some of your threats and I think TKOS' advice was pretty on point.
Personally, I think that life from the loam and gifts ungiven is the best argument for the green splash, it reminds me a lot of the lands.deck tech with intuition. I'm tempted to give it a shot at some point, but as mentioned above the manabase also looks reallyyyy fragile.
im been losing a lot lately in modo because of terrible matchups (burn, D&T, storm) and i don't see a lot of our usual midrange preys, i noticed that the games i win are mostly those i have turn 3/4 tron and if not, almost 80-90% i will lose. tweaked and tested build but i guess its more on the meta and they really know how to play against us being linear in a way.
i think we need plan B or C, or maybe an early threat.
have anybody tested goyf? was thinking of thought-knot but it still expensive to cast under blood moon and goyf can provide some time to ramp to 6-7 mana. was thinking of cutting 2 relic and 2 worldbreakers for 4 goyfs.
I don't think there's necessarily one variant that is above the other right now. I've been playing around with all of them and personally, I've found that GB feels exceedingly strong and fun to pilot. The discard MB can really be clutch, and fatal pushing bobs/goyfs/shadows etc feels so much better than PtE and ramping your opponent.
That being said, GW is really amazing with its options coming out of the sideboard. Leyline is strong right now, blessed alliance is really solid on the life gain both for yourself or against things like grixis shadow (2 for 1'ing a couple death's shadows by giving their health a bump is dirty), and rest in peace speaks for itself.
GR is also still a very real option, but only if you have the 4 groves in my opinion. They're more relevant than ever in keeping opponents life up when they want it low, and as said above their ability to x for 1 a little army of creatures will never not be good.
Wow I want the heck out of that new o-stone art! And glad I didn't go all in on groves. Been picking them up real slow when I see excellent deals and now I can just wait it out for the 4th.
Actually, those apps did go a little overlooked so I'm glad you mentioned them again haha. For now, I'll mostly be sticking to MOTL, ebay, and mtg sick deals on facebook, which really does have some great pricing. Not into the idea of pucatrade yet, I'm focused more on specific cards than collection building. In my spare time though, I'll definitely be checking out things like craigslist, both those apps, and flea markets.
I would say don't entirely underestimate the value of walking ballista / trinket mage. Trinket has versatility beyond ballista for searching up things like GY hate, chalice, pithing needle, and expedition map. Also, trinket into a ballista can do a really good job of clogging up the board or applying pressure since an unchecked ballista can be a nightmare for opponents. Lastly, it ups the artifact count for thirst for knowledge.
I would say if trinket mage isn't in your play style then don't go for it. But if you do run a 1x Trinket mage then there's really no reason to not include a ballista or two
Not much love for beast within but I guess the CMC is high and it doesn't pair so well with Karn

I'm a little disappointed as I just bought into two of them before they were spoiled, but that card also didn't have much business sitting at 100$.
