QUESTION: I notice there are a lot of people who received cards with what looks like RM or PM initials on the bottom right. Is one person sending multiple alters to many people? My fruitcake Hover Barrier (which found a home in my work in progress Isperia Commander Deck) has the mark.

Looking back, it seems like Tyrol sent a bunch to be divvied up for everyone?

Is there even an argument for keeping it hidden? I mean besides "if they don't have posts they are obviously not part of the community", which is a pretty sad argument in my eyes.

Eh, that still makes it invisible to google, but whatever you guys want, I suppose.

+1 for spamming your way to 10 posts in Magic General this morning.

I agree with making CI at least viewable (if that's possible) before 10 posts as long as sitewide events are being kept there. Heck, if anything else, it prevents people from doing what you did to get to 10 posts quickly.

The other solution is to just move the Holiday Exchange out of Community Issues and into "Events" or "Magic General", or something.

For my particular case, yes, that would obviously solve the issue. Thinking in "what's best for the community" mode, I really think making it un-hidden would be better.

So, I'm sad to say that there won't be a nice surprise from me this year....sorry.

I have, sitting in my lap, a 4 month old. That kinda sucked away any free time I would have been able to set aside to alter cards. Of course, I could have made alters earlier in the year before he was born....but I'm a horrendous (or awesome, depending on your perspective) procrastinator. Meaning that I really only can alter in Oct/Nov...when he was 2 or 3 months old, so yeah, that didn't work out. Coupled to the fact that my PhD work is in "crunch time", leaves me like this.

Hopefully I'll be able to get my act together for next year. For now, I leave you with this digital gift:

I believe sometime in the past year this forum was changed to only be visible to posters with 10+ posts and who have been registered for at least 2 weeks.

I understand the rational behind this change, you don't want people making new accounts to complain about the same thing if they are banned and/or making MUPs to make something seem like it has more complaints/support than it actually does. However, I think it's a really bad move to completely hide this forum to the world.

I can certainly understand the restriction of posting for those guidelines, but I still think the forum should be viewableto all. Personally, I think a tweaking of the guidelines for posting would be nice as well. Something like:
Can post if 10+ posts and registered for 2 weeks.
But, if user registered for 6+ months, can post regardless of post count.

In addition to being more transparent (ironic that the mods have a thread about increasing transparency in an hidden forum...), it also opens the forum up for google and the forums search features. Personally, I was trying to find the holiday card exchange thread for months and could not, even with extensive google searches. I thought it was pretty odd that even the previous years threads were completely inaccessible and unfindable. When I couldn't find the forum I remembered it being in, I figured that that forum had been deleted....

The problem then becomes if the judge will allow electronic devices during the game, which should probably be no, because people can communicate (i.e. friend stand behind opponent, text name of cards in their hand
