The End of an Era

That's fine. Both are triggered abilities and will be put on the stack and you can let one resolve, then when you get priority again, tap your lands before the next ability resolves. Granted, you will have to use the mana during the Combat Damage Step, otherwise it'll empty when you move to End of Combat.

Found about 5 sea drakes in a common box once.

Amazingly, I did the same thing, along with some Ancient Tombs in the common box and a Wasteland marked for $1.

There will be two triggers when the Hatchlings attack, since each trigger the Hellkite when they are declared attackers. You'll only be able to copy one of the triggers with Resonator and get 1 more dragon.

  • posted a message on Question of Ability Stacking with Young Pyromancer
The first thing you do when casting a spell is move it from the current zone and onto the stack. After you have finished casting Beck, Pyromancer's ability will trigger and be put on top of the stack. Pyromancer's ability will resolve first and create an Elemental, which will be before Beck ever resolves and allow you to draw a card.

    Quote from mysticduck
1 is incorrect. The Image can't copy Mutavault unless Mutavault is already a creature. Image would copy Mutavaults tap for mana ability and the change to a 2/2 ability. Image would be a creature and a land. Image would have summoning sickness, creatures with summoning sickness can't use tap abilities. Also, Image would remain a creature past the end of turn as it only copies what is printed on the card and what the creature is, nothing else, so the "end of turn" delayed trigger would not exist.

You are incorrect. When you copy an object, you copy only what is printed on the card, along with any other copy effects. If Image copies an animated Mutavault, it'll enter the battlefield as an inanimate Mutavault with the sacrifice ability. You can tap it for 1 that turn, unless you decide to animate it.

You control all 4 triggers and can put them on the stack in any order. You can choose where the Mist trigger goes and can do anywhere from 3-6 damage.

  • posted a message on CMC of X
Cards with X in it's cost is 0 everywhere except for when it's on the stack, so whatever you paid for X, Condescend CMC will be X+1. A Chalice with one counter on it will not be able to counter Condescend unless you cast it with X = 0

The first quote you are using is from 2007 documentation and is obsolete. Can't access it from work at the moment, but MTR section 7.5 (should be) discusses about players wanting to drop before a swap of prodect.

  • posted a message on Teferi vs. Unexpected Results
One of the golden rules of Magic is if something tells you that you can do something, but something tells you that you can't, can't always wins. Results lets your opponent cast something during it's resolution, but Teferi makes it so the spell can only be cast during a main phase of their turn, while the stack is empty, which it currently is not. Your opponent wont be able to cast the card from Results.

101.2. When a rule or effect allows or directs something to happen, and another effect states that it can’t happen, the “can’t” effect takes precedence.

  • posted a message on shenanigans at upkeep and end steps
In the first scenario, that's not possible. Sheoldred needs to be on the battlefield when the upkeep occurs for it's ability to trigger. When the Upkeep Step occurs, it not on the battlefield at that time. Also, no players receive priority during the Untap Step, so you couldn't do it there either.

In the second one, yes you can do that, since you control both triggers, so you may stack them however you want. You can put Manabonds trigger on the stack first, and Jin's above it. Jin will draw you 7 cards and Manabond will then have you put all the lands you want on the battlefield.

Multiple instances of first strike are redundant. The creature will have two instances first strike, but will deal combat damage during first strike whether it has 1 instance or 1000.

  • posted a message on Responding to Steppe Lynx in the Combat Damage Step
    Quote from spec.ops
    @ThePeople'sHero

Thanks for that. Okay, I know understand the attack and block part where everyone must declare all of their attackers and blockers.

And just to get to the point I'll explain what happen at the tournament. He entered his combat phase. He declared his attacking creatures - Lynx only. I then declared my defending creatures - none. He then clearly stated if "Do you take the damage from Lynx." I stated, "I declared no blockers." At that point he cracked all his fetch lands hitting me for high damage amounts. It seems the rules make that legal. Right?

So I was not cheated into taking damage I could have responded to, but passed on the opportunity to vapor snag his Lynx. What I wanted to do was have him crack his fetch lands and Vapor Snag his Lynx wasting his Landfall Triggers.

    Is my conclusion correct?

It depends. If the game has moved on to the Combat Damage Step, damage is dealt right then and there if he chose not to crack fetches, it would be 0. If he is doing it during the Declare Blockers Step, the game does not move to the Combat Damage Step until both players have passed priority. During each time he chooses to crack a fetch and the subsequent trigger, you could cast Vapor Snag as the abilities don't resolve until both players pass priority, giving you time to cast it. Even if he cracked all his fetches and got all his pumps, the game still wont move to the Combat Damage Step until both on you pass priority. At this time, you could cast Snag before combat damage happens.

In both cases, the Hellkute will remain exiled. Since the Fiend Hunter no longed has the LTB triggered ability, it won't return the exiled creature when it leaves the battlefield.

  • posted a message on Blood Scrivener and Lotleth Troll
Scrivener's ability doesn't use the stack since it's not a triggered ability. It is a replacement effect that will change how you will draw if you have no cards in hand. You don't get priority during those draws, so you'll only get to draw 2 cards and lose 1 life. Lotleth Troll has no interaction with the Scrivener's abiltiy.
