I saw that too and wondered if I should go snort another row of coccaine. This guy has "TARGET ME!" written all over it just like Academy Rector. Hell, Saprazzan Heir says "Come on, you know you want to block me, don't ya? Give in, it's your destiny!@#"

This guy is just like that 8cc 1/1 with a Morph of blue mana Scornful Egotist from Scourge. Obscure yet extremely useful.

The way the "A" is situated I'm guessing that's the expansion symbol too.

Always had a feeling it'd be symbolic to the deep intangible culture the environment is made up of. Though it DOES look a bit like the Apoc symbol a tad (in shape)

I've always wondered when they'd be doing "Legendary" sorceries and/or instants where you can only cast one in a game. Maybe this is it.

they have been desperate to boost sales of core sets lately (given the disappointing #s for 7th and 8th), so this wouldn't be a surprise at all. Hyppie isn't seeing as much play as it used to, and with Dark Ritual not around in Standard, I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a danger to anyone at the present time. Still would fit nicely in a rare slot if it did make a reprint. When Erhnam came back did people play with it? I'm sure some did but it didn't really make much of a splash given its notoriety of being quite a beatstick. When people saw Clone did they go "OMG CLONE r0x0rs!!!!!!!!11111oneoneoneone...dotdotdot"? No they did not.

No need to freak here folks. All they seem to be doing is trying to lure the veterans back into the game by making the core set more reminiscent with the days of Revised and 4th edition. If they did that then we'll see a lot more 9th being pushed and, ultimately, bought.

Some people don't care for the interaction. Players who are in a tournament usually are there to win, not to mingle. IF you want to mingle, play casual magic. Simple as that.

Balanced = boring. Overpowered, yes, can be boring, though it shakes the environment up after a stale age. Would you want to have balanced all the time? Probably not. AFter a while you'd want something that just takes things by the balls and throws them around the room merely to remove the boredom. Staleness means stagnation; overpowered-ness breaks barriers, enabling progress to move forward.

Mystic, Masques had a far greater effect on the game than most people let on. Rebels was THE deck to beat, followed by Fires (thanks to Saproling Burst), and a lot of the cards in it still see significant play. Look at how many cards from Masques on its own are close to being staples in the decks that fit that cards' function: Gush fits perfectly in Tog (and was restricted because of that), Land Grant for ten-land Stompy; Squee, Goblin Nabob in any deck that uses discard tricks; Rishadan Port was a four-of in any deck, regardless of what you were playing. A lot more from Masques see play, and I doubt that Kamigawa can match that.

Are there some interesting cards in Kamigawa? Yes, some. A lot of them are just reprints with higher mana costs and made arcane or transformed into spirit to fit the theme. Nothing new here folks! Mirrodin offered some unique takes on the game; it made artifacts more relevant to game play. Look at how it's affected ALL formats! What has kamigawa done to all formats? Not much really. Mirrodin, much like Saga, will have a lasting effect on the game for generations to come. And whether or not you like it, despite your *****ing you'll still be hording cards from Mirrodin because they make a better choice in a deck than most from Kamigawa will.

Probably be the "offspring" or relatives of the previous legends we've seen in Champions but with weaker stats. Look at Jeska compared to Kamahl, Pit Fighter. She's half his size, both physicality and ability but the same function nonetheless).

My god, can you imagine Channel in Tooth and Nail decks? :yikes:

I'd like to see the channel ability as a sort of kicker cost. Something like:

    Great Balls of Fire :symr::symr:
    Instant
Channel 2 (You may pay 2 life in addition to other costs paid for this spell.)
GBOF deals 3 damage to target creature. If you paid the channel cost, GBOF also deals 3 damage to that creature's controller.

Isn't that just kicker with a different name and splice added to it?

How to get hand size to matter? Just have a woman develop the concept and she'll tell you all about whether size matters or not.

Why not just reprint Hatred and get it over with?

Teach I do believe that Blazing Shoal is the closest thing you'll get to it.

Maybe it's something as simple as

Whenever this creature is dealt damage by a source, ~ deals an equal amount of damage to that source's controller.

A built-in Eye for an Eye. they HAVE been going gung-ho on building abilities like that into creatures so I wouldn't be surprised if this is Saviour's version.

Mirrodin brought me back to Magic. Champions makes me want to go take my money and spend it a nudey bar instead. At least that way I'll get more bang for my buck and keep my little rod of brilliance satisfied for another few months.

This is reminding me of the hype Prophecy's Winds got when the set was being previewed. Watch the entire set begin to suck after people have been to the prerelease.

*shakes head* Give it up folks...this is deader than Michael Jackson at a PTA meeting.

ya know, of all the fallen angel art that they've had, i REALLY love the old art. just looks so much more diabolical.

I don't know why they altered it in the first place. They kept the Legends version up till 6th edition then went with a cracked out version for 7th and 8th. Actually, if you look hard enough the 8th edition one looks like a portrait of Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins prior to selling out on his band to form Zwan. Heh he's got the "Aww ****" look in his face in that art. Kinda like when Xenphire looks up after nailing MikeyG and sees Mazeura leaning at the door watching every moment of this charade.

This one seems to be *slightly* improved but to me it seems like an old rejected Invasion artwork with the way it's designed.

I'm guessing the old agreements with old artists have been purged so that's probably why we no longer see former artists or arts done by those artists on core set cards (talking pre-5th edition artists...Melissa Benson, Randy Asplund-faith, Margaret Organ-Keane, Daniel Gelon, Drew Tucker)...Sure, the art was abstract but abstract art leaves a lot to the imagination.
