Quote from BestOfThree »I'm not much of a Reddit guy, but the sub-sites I've been to have honestly been very informative, most people seem polite, and a lot of that is down to the mods, I assume.

I think those of you who are poo-pooing the idea of going to Reddit are potentially missing out on a solid resource, though I will admit I don't go there much myself. But the times I have, it's been totally fine.
As a long time member of Reddit, I can tell you, it is a cesspool and an echochamber. Have a dissenting opinion and you get downvoted into oblivion. Provide constructive criticism and you get shadowbanned. I've been on both sides of the mod fence on the site, and although there are some good subs there, as soon as a sub hits a certain critical mass it turns into a sewage plant. Much of the bullying against content creators got started on Reddit.

What's also surprising is seeing binder-bait cards like Infernal Darkness fetch some value lately. I'm so glad I started playing back in '95. *hugs binder*

I cracked a Mana Confluence in my first few packs and I regret not getting rid of it when it was $20. I guess I can still schlep into a LGS for a trade...
And to think I was going to buy a box of this set because it looked promising. Glad I didn't. Then again, maybe I should because it could pose a hidden treasure later on (much like Worldwake and Future Sight did).

That's how I felt about Lorwyn, especially Morningtide. Too cutesy and totally out of Magic's traditional flavour.
Shadowmoor looks very promising just from the artworks we've seen so far. I have a feeling we're going to have a lot more format-changing cards and concepts than Lorwyn introduced.
hopefully this will entwine the strong flavourful aspect that Kamigawa imposed with the functional flavour Ravnica gave us. That way it'll be a hugely successful block with all things considered.
Actually, Char, I did see a resemblance between the Shelldock Isle and that artwork being compared. Look closer. Remember, everything is being defiled in this set from its supposed original formation in Lorwyn. Of course there'll be some discrepancies...but for the most part...they are pretty identical.

This makes me feel like The Dark all over again. Completely defiled and evil as the essence of the set's name suggests.
Makes me think that everything has a black aspect to it. Unless the "popular returning mechanic" itself is the black-infused thing Torment introduced...
I just hope they do it right this time.

Most hellions have some sort of combat restriction and/or a comes into play ability that affects a large portion of the board. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing has counters on it when it comes into play and you remove em to ping or do some funky combat trick. Either that or you break down and do the cha-cha mid-turn.
