Because everyone is in a sleep spell of some sort, I wonder if there'll be a mechanic that keeps the creature "awake" for a period and you have to do something to keep it that way, else its default sleep condition prevents it from doing something of use or weaker status.
Do we know if most or all cards are getting new art for standard frames?
Of the 5 we've seen in standard frames, 4 are old art, 1 is new. Small sample size, but best guess is most are not.
Hmm. I was hoping that for the legendary creatures--particularly Teysa Karlov--we'd have some form of updated art. I guess we'll see what actually transpires.
Also, there's nothing illegal about LGS employees cracking into product before customers get a chance. Hell, I don't know if it's even against Wizards policy. But I do think it's unsportsmanlike and overall Bad Form.
If LGSs didn't crack open boxes prior to the prerelease date, how could they possibly know what inventory they'll have for singles preorders?
Personally, I miss the good ol' days before internet spoilers, the hype that goes with them, and presales because I can't help but feel they ruined the magic (pardon the pun) of the discovery process and what the secondary market would value cards at when they were first discovered upon release back in the 90's (and we had to rely on Scrye and The Duelist magazines). However, since spoilers and preorder sales will never go away at this point, I often feel I have to jump on that wagon to compete with other hungry consumers because not doing so would put me at an inherent disadvantage against others who do as secondary market prices take shape and fluctuate in the first weeks, however fickle they may be.
Also, as a customer of a different location, it makes me very happy to know that F2F Games helped facilitate this unique discovery as they are the best MTG retailer I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Congratulations to all who were indirectly involved, and especially to the lucky player who found the ring!
Cracking open that Scrye or InQuest for the latest news gave you a rush a lot of new players wouldn't understand.
The lore means nothing to me as I never got into the LOTR, but for two-turn Catalog effects and a graveyard reshuffle with a short no-strings-attached UU boost, in blue no doubt and exceptionally rare, seems pretty good for an uncommon.
I really want to be excited for this but I'm at the point where there is too much going on and I can't keep up.
I've got severe depression, severe anxiety, and almost double the lowest threshold for someone with PTSD, my mental bandwidth is exhausted. I mean it looks like a cool set for those who are invested in some way, but I'm out for now. Enjoy folks!
Xcric: I'm under the same mindset. I mean if they're going to ban that many cards from rotation-ready sets they might as well just keep rotation as it is.
How long will it be before most of the playable cards of rotation-ready sets get banned? At that point I ask, why even bother?
Addendum: Well there you go. It's supposedly fake.
Kind of like fading but not.

Excellent publicity for that one store.

White still holds on to its engine so we might see monowhite start to creep up more than it has. The Wandering Emperor remains intact.
I'm not too familiar with the BR schedule. When will be the next time they come together to do a BR announcement? September after Wilds?
Oh, they say August 7th for the annual ban. Wonder if people can hold tight until then?
