That's a super cute picture for the dog <3. They're really going al out on this "Only triggers once per turn" clause aren't they?
So are enchantment creatures the modern way of representing kami then? Either way, those signpost uncommons are pretty tight. Enchantment shenanigans here I come! (Always been a fan of enchantress-style decks).

Wow. Did not expect that.
I hope that means she still gets a "non-compleated" card in this set, as like her last hurrah as a hero.
Story-wise, this could be part of the endgame for Phryexians. Being able to compleat a PW and combined with the magic god-granting essence that Vorinclex nabbed on Kaldheim, they could be making a new super-baddy.
I'm wondering if Jin-Gitaxias will use the Reality Chip to give to Bolas. It seems to be able to bypass the planeswalking limitations. Is that the new storyline? Or is it a way to revive Yawgmoth?

Jace won't like that. I wonder how this will tie into the X-Gatewatch folk?

And they are using the enchantment creature frame from Theros for these cards. Cool. I thought it'd be plane-specific but I guess not.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Jan 27, 2022Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Ryperior74 »Ok even better translation
they said “bad stuff” is the “counter that spell” part
But easily in 1 hour 45 minutes we will see the English version
We might not see it today but some time in the next few days or so. But if it's a big storyline related card then they *may* reveal it today.
I'm actually kinda excited now. I hope we get to see some more mechanics other than Channel.
Jan 26, 2022Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Evil Never Dies »"So I've had a few minutes to do comparisons. Here's what I've got for you:
1. First and foremost, as far as I can tell from the photos I've found, this Jin-Gitaxias does NOT have a keyword ability, unless it's a new one
2. There are six total words that both paragraphs have in common, four of which we definitely know the meaning of: "When/Whenever", "artifact", "spell" and "control".
3. There is one word that appears in both with what we have previously determined to be a inversion clause. So probably "you" vs "not you".
4. The other important detail is this clause is used as an individual word near the end of the second clause.
From this I have what I believe to be a viable translation (NOT CONFIRMED! I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO TALK TO OTHER TRANSLATORS! THIS IS MY FIRST BEST GUESS!)
Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant 5UU
Legendary Creature - Phyrexian Praetor
Whenever you cast an artifact, instant or sorcery spell, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy.
Whenever an opponent casts an artifact, instant or sorcery spell for the first time each turn, counter that spell.

Ooh a built-in Erayo's Essence. I like it. If it's a 5/5 then that makes it better.
Good thing they nixed Divide and Epiphany. Egad that would be bonkers if this is the true text of the card.
Edit: This seems to fit the "Double the effect for me, halve it for my opponent" theme introduced with Vorinclex II. This seems to be the most likely the case for Jin-Gitaxias.
We can then begin to speculate on what the abilities of the remaining praetors could be if they appear in the near future.
Jan 26, 2022Posted in: The Rumor MillQuote from Melkor »that is 100% a 5/3, it doesn't look anything like the first 5. so your 7 drop dies to Bolt. But the abilities are almost certainly pushed to hell. it's one of the flagship mythics of the set and a blue card, it has to get banned in SOME format
If that's the case then it probably has activated hexproof or some sort of defence to that effect. Else it dies to a lot of the red-based removal in the Standard format. Elsewhere? Fogeddaboutit. Might as well pick up your ball and go home.

Nobody could have foretold it either.

Blue got a giant middle finger up its ass.
Alrund's Epiphany banned
Divide by Zero banned
Faceless Haven banned
Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer banned
Memory Lapse is banned
Teferi, Time Raveler is unbanned due to rebalancing. (see article for reason).
Well, and we thought we'd have a full Standard season without (additional) bans. So much for that happening.
Jan 25, 2022I have mixed feelings about the potential of Sheoldred in Eldraine as originally mentioned above. The more I think about it, the more I feel they're going about introducing the main antagonists and plotline in a slower manner than they have been of late.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
With the Weatherlight Saga, people were so sick of Phyrexians by the time the story wrapped up in Apocalypse no one wanted to hear the word Phyrexia for a long time. Like from essentially from Antiquities to Apocalypse with some breaks in between is quite a lot. Scars of Mirrodin was an exception but that didn't help the cause. There are a lot of players who only know the Eldrazi; some newer players never experienced Phyrexians so that's something to consider too. But we'll see where it goes.
I don't think WOTC can afford to have their two biggest major antagonists be that heavily disliked without a proper back-up outside of an Avengers-style arrangement involving strictly planeswalkers.

Now I don’t want to hear a PEEP from those who complained about Kamigawa’s « too futuristic appearance. » none whatsoever.
