This is the part I never fully understood. I don't see why we need to have a plane for a specific cultural reference or demonstration when it could be amassed into one single giant world. Dominaria is the closest we'll have to mixed cultures and races versus something relatively uniform on, say, Innistrad. Yes I get Vampires are considered a race of their own but for references to Terran cultures like a SE Asian or East Asian or North Africa we could find a world where they can all live on the same realm without having to go through a ***** ton of planar customs to travel.
In terms of subterranean exploration, you can also use the whip to latch on to a stalagmite and leap across a small chasm, taking you to discover treasures and other areas.
It's a possibility. (Yes I know I'm "necroing" a thread but there hasn't been much movement here so whatevs.) Rath merged into Dominaria. So nothing can be ruled out. Especially if they're metaphysically close to one another in the multiverse.
REmember too that "automaton" gnomes were artifact creatures for the majority of Magic's early years on Ulgrotha and Rath, so wouldn't surprise me in the least if one or two snuck out. But yeah Saheeli constructing it makes sense too.
So Descend is like Threshold with a variable value rather than a fixed (7). And Cascade II, so nice to see you. I like that version a lot better, and that 4RRR spell isn't so bad, makes whiffing on it tolerable. I think I'm gonna like this. Keeps my energy focused rather than scattered thanks to the ad nauseam releases of UB product as of late.
My guess on the "popular Tempest sorcery returning as an enters-the-battlefield" is Living Death. Maybe on a creature as a sort of flavorful necromancer or powerful undead spirit awakening type thing.
My guess on the aura is a Pacifism for W. Pacifism effects have gone up and down in power of the years and some sets push them a bit more, but they are rarely all that great nowadays.
I would hazard a guess of it being an Intuition effect. TMK Intuition commands a high amount of value and is played in pretty much any format it's legal in. The ones I would speculate are:
WoR does fit in with the enchantment theme that's in Standard right now with all the Roles around. I don't know how popular it is now or has been but this makes some sense. Keep in mind this set was designed before they implemented the rotation modifications. But of those yeah they feel the best fit.
Speaking of MaRo rating mechanics, has anyone noticed that, according to the Storm Scale, Ascend isn't listed? Neither are Casualty or Blitz, yet Connive, Alliance and Shield Counters are for New Capenna. WTF Batman. Double-ewe. Tee. EPH.
Detective originated in Dr. Who, but nic to see the type in a standard set.
I'm gonna like this. I thought it was going to be lame at first but I kind of like this concept for a set. I wanna know whodunnit now lol.
When I saw Monastery Swiftspear I was like, "but it's an uncommong!" without realizing it was a common in Double Masters 2022.
But hey that's just a theory, A PLANE THEORY!
Allied-coloured man-lands! OH ME OH MY!
