Feb 4, 2014bateleur posted a message on Launch Giveaway! There are a lot of strong contenders for different reasons, but I think the overall winner is probably Warp World. At first glance it looks like a typical overpriced Red random-stuff-happens card, but actually it's a powerful and subtle weapon that has led to a lot of fun games as well as a lot of fun deckbuilding.Posted in: Announcements

My Pick : Rorix Bladewing
What can I say? I like the colour!
Randomly realised I could have done with this in my Cube match against Gavin - would have dealt nicely with his Veilborn Ghoul!
Still irrationally tempted by that Snowhorn Rider...
(Why isn't Scheming an Instant?)
Just can't see myself running Temur Banner.

My Pick : Meandering Towershell
As sad as these packs are, I'm being quite lucky that most of them have something I can take.
I really like this card, despite it being a bit slow.
Can't work out what went wrong between pack 1 and pack 3, but I'm happy enough with one copy of Stroke.
Also, I don't think Manifest is going to ruin Limited. Sure, there's a bit of swinginess, but it's no worse than the swinginess of drawing cards (where a land is often nearly blank for half the game). And on the flipside, the ability to plan around the various cards a Manifest morph might represent might turn out to be quite skill-testing.
My Pick : Dragonscale Boon
I don't have many big hitters in my deck and at this point I'm not likely to get many, so this should be useful. I like the idea of Waterwhirl, but I don't think I quite have enough tempo to make it great.
(Aside: Heart Piercer Bow looks like a Hearthstone card - how is this effect useful in Magic?!)
Glacial Stalker is fine, but I have two already and it might table. Don't really want to have to splash Red for Rider. Can't support Quiet Contemplation properly (a shame, since it's potentially awesome).
Well, I'm not going to have enough morphs to want Plans and almost everything else is outside my colours, so:
My Pick : Monastery Flock
At least it's a playable!
Cantrips are always good!
