Since when did phyrexians become the borg?

They always have where have you been?

Guys, I think he is just talking about Keskit, the Flesh Sculptor & Profane Transfusion arts in the OP. They do look rather Borg-ish now that you mention it but I think it's just random art-choice on these two. There's probably also a little bit of the Engineers from Prometheus going on in Transfusion.

Well, I already run Grenzo, Robber of the Rich, Gonti, Lord of Luxury, and Fallen Shinobi--and all have proven to be totally sweet in our games--so this will probably have to get tried out at some point. Evil Lol This card seems absolutely GREAT. I love a little chaos without going to coin-flips/dice-rolling, but I wouldn't expect all cubes would want to run it.

Honestly, this card seems stone-cold unplayable to me.

I have to have this + another guy for this to even do anything. They both have to survive long enough for any of this to happen.

Someone please explain to me why I would ever play this over the original? This is more fragile, slower, and seems objectively worse in every single way. I'm certainly not the best card evaluator but what am I missing here? Shrugs

For some reason, I find the Seb McKinnon secret lair to be hard to believe. Maybe it's because it explicitly promotes the work of one artist in a non-unified context.

These products are literally: "Hey, what are people obsessing over right now? Let's print a product that targets THAT and go make some easy money." There is no rulebook they are following at all other than that, I promise you.

People won't shut up about the guy's art. Every single set. This is exactly what they would choose.

Bob Ross lands are a bit 'memey' but exactly the same thing.

I believe walkers are planned to be defined as 2/2 black zombies in the comp rules.

Wow really? That's pretty weird they don't look like they have black frames. Oh well. Disappointing. I was looking to running some armored zombies for flavor reasons.

Well, I don't have any sort of problem with this card or this set. Testing this one for sure and I expect it will be quite good. If it doensn't fit anywhere in the primary cube I'll surely have some fun with it in the Artifact cube. The zombies walkers are..colorless you say? Unibrow

So these are 100% going to be in every single set now? I doubt that very much to be honest.

No, they won't be in every set, but they will be in Kaldheim and Strixhaven.

Well okay. That is unfortunate to be honest--I fear this will completely destabilize Magic. Oh well guess we'll all have to wait and see what happens. (They definitely had plans to make Companions a regular thing too, remember?)

So these are 100% going to be in every single set now? I doubt that very much to be honest.

Exception of Planeswalkers, when have they ever done that before with anything? I mean--it might be really great for drafting Zendikar Rising but that's all they can infer about these fundamentally game-changing cards until more time goes by. If they do like they always have, they'll wait and see how these actually play out (and metagame impact) before they decide to make this completley evergreen. And seeing as how Kaldheim went to the printer a few months ago, highly doubtful they just decided to throw that entire process out the window and just jam them in to other sets without a reason to do so.

Not to mention--suddenly including these in every set creates a different problem, i.e. sets are tight for space every single time. They try to cram so much in, there will be absolutely zero room to put them into every set. Classic Case? Cycling Mechanic. Cycling is awesome for sets. It smooths your draws, it's cheap, it's available to every color. It could be in every single set and none of us would mind very much. But...they don't put Cycling into every set. Same deal. It doesn't always need to be there for Limited environment to function smoothly and it simply does not fit.

There's also a thing called "design equity'. Basically, if they find some cool new thing that everyone really likes, they get far more monetary benefit (pack sales) by holding out on us and only giving it to us once in a while. (Classic Example: Fetch Lands) They don't put stuff like that into every set because doing so takes away all that equity. They need some returning awesome thing to help promote the set and get folks interested in buying the NEW set. (Not let them just say "Well, I guess I can just buy my FetchLands in next year's set." That's terrible for them. They want your money NOW--that's 100% why they decided to put the fetch lands in the new set (not all of them).

I haven't played with them yet (but I am very high on them and super-excited to cube with them.) That said, I'll be very surprised if these start showing up in every set now. Sorry.

Really thinking a lot about Jwari Disruption.

Replacing Censor is not hard choice to make. To me, the real question is: would you guys ever replacing Force Spike with it? (I am also running Mana Leak which I would not replace with this under any circumstances.)

Or I could just finally ditch a pet card. (That might be the best call but I'm still very curious as to your thoughts on this vs Force Spike. Smile

Seems like they have the same problem revisiting Zendikar as they did with Ravnica.

First Ravnica block was the best, partially because of all the innovative card designs, but also because it had an organic creative feel to it. There were lots of individual features like the nephilim that weren't popular in and of themselves but added character to the setting. These were stripped out during the revisits and replaced with more of the features that marketed well, resulting in a blander, more generic plane. By the third visit I dread ever going back.

Thank you for stating the actual problem.

I think the best part of this card is actually the clever use of the word 'fathom' in the flavor text. Tongue
