This is the second deck I'm focusing on. The main idea was to have combos and theft in UG. After looking around, I found a few snakes I liked and there were plenty of useful wizards to use. So here is the deck list. I'm hoping to get this to 80/20. Could you give me some advice/suggestions for where I am at?

I have been out of magic for a few years and am trying to get back into EDH. Any suggestions, critiques would be helpful.
I was hoping to make a psuedo voltron deck. I was also hoping to incorporate Sun Forger into the mix. Due to it being a monk flavored deck, I wanted it to have a flair of chaos. I like the idea of a monk's combat being disorienting & the chaos lends itself to that.
Here are some cards I thought that would be good:
Monsters
Voltron cards
Chaos
So, as an older player out of the game for a few years, what would be great to include into a Shu Yun deck with the themes: Voltron/Sunforger/Chaos?
I do not want to run any combos that cause me to take infinite turns. That's unfun.
I would like to make some cuts. As it stands, the deck has 123 cards. I'm having a hard time figuring out what to cut/how to streamline the deck. All suggestions are appreciated.

I picked those commanders for a few reasons.
That leaves me with a lot of options, what feels like an overwhelming amount of new cards to go through, and not enough time to really do that. Any suggestions on where to start? (I'd rather not make either tribal but having a sub theme is cool with me).
what are you win conditions? your general doesn't win you the game. you would need to pump him a ton with equipment and such.
If that is win con 1, what are your others? personally, I like to have at least 2 (pref 3 or 4) win conditions.whether it is a soft lock combo, a "deal woth this card or lose" card, a general based win, or an infinite combo (I don't play those. frowned apon in my eyes). so make sure you have enough win cons where you feel if someone ruins one plan, you have at least one other way to handle it.
remember your theme! ninjas and rogues are sick. I love this idea. I've actually been meaning to do it for a while. it looks like your main theme is the creature types which means you need to back them up. counterspells/removal seem to be the options for ub. I like running at least 3-4 spot removal and 1 or 2 perm based spot removal (think viscara the dreadful or gravepact ), and at least 1 or 2 sweeps (for this deck, I would think of cyclonic rift ). I say a bounce type of card because it follows your theme, at least I think so. also, 3 counterspells is not enough in my opinion. 1/11 chance to pull a counter. if you're going to run something, I'd run at least 4-5 of a theme. any less and you'll probably not get them as much as you'd like.
That being said, I like leaving myself 2-3 cards that are just "I want to play these, they are cool" cards.
this ties back into the wincon section but I feel it deserves it's own point: you may want to put more cards in that synergize well with your general. make sure if your general is out, it is being used. have some bleed effects (painful quandary perhaps? anything to trigger his ability.
one card I was thinking of that would be a house is dire undercurrents. which lead me to thinking... why not have more of a discars theme? then you open yourself up to more punishment effects like liliana's caress, mindcrank , and megrim. it is ub afterall. discard is begging to be shown love. plus, in a format that draws a lot of cards, this could be helpful. there are also ways to force your opponents to draw. like temple bell, bloodgift demon , sign in blood , arcane denial , and blue sun's zenith . these cards are great because you can use them to draw for yourself if they have cards and you need more or if you need them to draw cards to discard.
a card that could use a little more builsing around, but could be a lot of fun in a deck like this breathstealer's crypt. you would need more life gain options and possibly even spring for a card like sanguine bond . but that is just a thought. I may be getting too far from what you want to do with your deck.
you're lack of toughness makes it easy for pesky red or back players to blow you up. might want to find some bigger evasion creatures or a way to pump more consistently.
that many instant speed evasion cards seems dangerous. I'd rather look for lands to function as evasion, perms that give it, and cut back the amount. but that's just personal opinion.
one final recommendation I will male is this: test play the crap out of it. if you need more sweeps and less targeted removal:adjust. if you want more targeted removal:include it. these games can be long. make sure the deck fits with what you want it to do. make sure you enjoy it.
I look forward to the updated list. and I'd I get a chance to put one together like this, ill be sure to let you know.

I was under the impression that because it has a mixed WB symbol, the deck must have a general that has both white and black. But I keep seeing it in Lavinia of the Truth decks. Can someone explain this to me?
I would love more retrace cards. I do not care if they were mono colored, bi, or tri. Just some interesting interactions. It is such a great feeling when you're playing RW/x and you top deck a land with waves of aggression in the yard.
I think retrace is one of the best ability ideas ever. But sadly, was not used a lot.
1 sire of insanity

1 reforge the soul
1 wheel of fate
1 wheel of fortune
1 Geth's grimoire

1 spiteful visions
Thoughts on there cards/other cards to run in a discard suite?
Thoughts on discard overall in EDH?
I know it's a great card but with the deck I wanted, I just wanted sure if it was needed. I'd rather have another way to bring back my creatures, another aggressive creature, or another way to make my creatures indestructible.

Human. Soldier. Pretty solid creature type. Hits plenty of fan favorite tribes, if you want to go that way.
Indestructible. That's amazing in any format. He withstand most board wipes, except terminus, hallowed burial, and cards with -1/-1 counters (black sun's zenith comes to mind). Who doesn't want an indestructible general?
And finally his ability that if he attacks with at least two other creatures, he gets +5/+5 until end of turn. A 4cmc general that can swing for 7. In colors that make it pretty easy to be attacking with two other creatures. This human is clearly a house.
At first I just wanted the deck to be about beating face in a RW humans/angels tribe theme and abusing sunforger. Then I thought maybe to go for a Armageddon.dec type of play with as many sweeps as possible, indestructibility, and win with easy general damage. Then I thought about a token themed deck. Needless to say, you can build Tajic in many different ways. I finally came to a deck I wanted. An aggressive deck with sunforger that kept pretty faithful to a human theme, filled with plenty of RW craziness that we all know and love(without any of the more "unfun" cards).

As you can tell, I kind of threw the thing together with too much excitement and not enough thought. After test playing it a bit, here is what I thought:
General viewpoint on the deck:
It does not do what I want it to. The angels were not scary. The humans did not do enough. I had turns where I wasn't attacking or destroying things. Not to mention, the deck was all over the place. I shifted towards a more aggressive play style for the deck. An aggro EDH sounds like a challenging but fun way to play multiplayer EDH.
With that in mind, here are my thoughts.
Artifacts:
scroll rack is going to be a dead draw. My hand should be empty as often as possible. Yes, it did cool things if I wanted to put cards back into my deck for sunforger fun but it just wasn't worth it anymore. A card like Wheel of Fortune or Reforge the Soul would do much better in this spot. Refill my empty hand and punish those silly U players and those pesky G players with their Praetor's Counsel
I completely forgot about boros keyrune. I'd take that over darksteel ingot any day. Another possible creature to trigger Tajic is worth it. Hands down.
I felt like there were not enough equipment in the deck. If I want to put pressure on my opponents and hit hard, and fast, I need more options to get there. So I need an equipment sub theme. Throw in some //gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?name=+[sword">+[of]+[and]"]swords, a jitte, and a tutor package to make it consistent.
Thran Dynamo just doesn't seem worth it. Either a better mana rock or free a slot. My curve won't be high enough to justify this.
The top is really solid tech no matter the deck. I hate having auto include cards that are not lands, but it does a great job with sunforger as well.
Creatures:
Take all the angels out. Leave 2 or 3 of the hard hitting angels for the top end of my curve. This opened quite a few slots as well.
Ashling, the Pilgrim seems like a mana sink. It's cute. But not worth it.
Same goes with Hellkite Tyrant. It hits hard, but it does not change the game when it etb. I want the higher end of my curve to be game changers. In an aggressive deck, I cannot afford to give my opponents the chance to untap and have time to handle my threats.
I love Suture Priest but not here. I do not have enough tokens or drops to really gain life that matters. Plus, it's EDH. I shouldn't need the life. It is amazing what this card can do against the right deck but I can't put a sword on this guy and be happy about swinging in. So I say cut it.
I'm playing red, so i'm keeping viashino heretic in. Fits everything I want to do. This card is a house on it's own.
I'm playing white, so I have to play weathered wayfarer. Too good not to play.
Cards like Zealous Conscripts do exactly what I want in that spot on the curve. I have drawn it once or twice and it was useless but if it is useless, I am probably in a better position anyway. This thing does what I want 90% of the time and I love it. Red theft. On a body. Perfect.
As far as enchantments go, I was not really all too happy with them:
Assemble the Legion was only played once but after it stayed around for 4 turns, I knew it had to stay. This is a must have in a Tajic deck.
Defensive Formation seemed like a good idea but the problem is when I am getting attacked, the creatures are either evasive (flying) or I am tapped out. This is worthless in my deck. Word of advice here, just because you have a cool card you just found, that does not mean you need to force it into a spot in a deck. DF is that card for me this time around. Lesson learned.
[c]Faith's Fetters[c] is a good card but I am not sure about it. It is great to stop blockers but I feel like something might go here better.
Karmic Justice never did anything. I'm on the fence about this one.
I play white. I play Land tax. Nuff said.
Legion's Initiative is one of the most powerful cards in the deck. This never disappoints.
Luminarch Ascension puts a target on your head that is just not worth it. I want the game to be friendly and a good time. Has to go. Despite being an amazing card.
Instants:
I loved the removal. Yes, they are staples for the colors but chaos warp, condemn, path, return to dust, shattering pulse, and StP are all staples for a reason.
boros charm and Faith's reward are excellent cards to give us some war tactics. They both work as "indestructibility" tech.
judge unworthy was another card that didn't fit my theme really. It just seemed like a cool card. It can go.
leave no trace is alright. But I do not think I need the enchant removal anymore than I already have. wear // tear is just better and does the job just fine.
reinforcements is too slow. So it has to go.
reiterate is always so much fun to play. I think I want wild ricochet in the deck as well. Always a good time.
word of seizing is a cute red card but I do not think it has a place in the deck.
Planeswalkers:
Neither Elspeth or Gideon did enough in the 4 cmc spot. So they're out.
Sorceries:
Austere Command is excellent tech. Too versatile not to keep in.
Brightflame is cute. No worth it here.
DoJ seems to hurt me more than it helps me. Spot removal takes priority in this deck.
Entreat the angels is a cool card. Miracle trigger is nice. But again, I do not think it works fast enough. Definitely on the chopping block.
Razia's Purification seemed like such a great card but always falls in favor of another over myself. It is a risky card and I love that about it but it has no place here. Sadly.
Waves of Aggression is probably one of the best cards in this deck. The distance it goes is absurd. Being able to dumb those lands that feel like dead draws late game into another waves is incredible. I can't rave about this card enough.
Lands:
They all seemed fine. I did want to try to drop a land or two to free up space though.
Cavern of Souls works nicely with having creature type themes. Plenty of Humans.
Kor Haven has helped so many times. If you play white, you play this. And you know why.
Mistveil Plains lets sunforger really shine. Use an instant. activate mistveil. Put said instant you need from your yard back into your deck. Use sunforger to get that instant. Great synergy.
Slayers' Stronghold and Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion are both powerhouses in this deck. I need to max out the damage. These are perfect.

Breakdown of (most of) the cards:
1 Sol Ring
1 Boros Keyrune
1 Boros Signet
1 Chromatic Lantern
1 Weathered Wayfarer
I think this is a fine number of mana fixings now. I never seem be struggling for mana. Plus, 2 of those serve as creatures to put swords on and beat face.
I had Darksteel ingot and Thran Dynamo in there before. Keyrune just felt like a better option. As did Signet.
1 Umezawa's Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Sword of Light and Shadow
1 Darksteel Plate
1 Sunforger
I think six equipment is a large enough pool. I don't really need the equipment but they do help beat harder. Not to mention, none of these equipment really need an explanation. They're all some of the best equipment ever.
Skullclamp in any deck with tokens or aggression can use the tech it comes with.
Umezawa's Jitte is another one of the greats. I shouldn't need to explain this one.
SoFaI is excellent for our theme. gives card draw, which is desperately needed in the deck, and more damage. What more could you ask for in an equipment for a deck like this?
SoLaS is pretty nice tech just for the pros and the resurrection. This is probably the weakest link in the equipment section.
Darksteel Plate just gives another way for creatures to continue you to swing to trigger Tajic's pump ability.
Sunforger I think this is one of the coolest cards ever. makes us hit way harder (+4/+0) and is our swiss army knife. Lets look at the things we can fetch with it's special ability. Also, note that you can use this ability whenever.
1 Swords to Plowshares
1 Condemn
1 Boros Charm
1 Chaos Warp
1 Debt of Loyalty
1 Ghostway
1 Oblation
1 Orim's Thunder
1 Rootborn Defenses
1 Reiterate
1 Faith's Reward
1 Return to Dust
1 Wild Ricochet
1 Grab the Reins
I like the diversity in my sunforger toolbox. Part of me wants to add master warcraft & fight to the death but I can't seem to find an opening anywhere. There are a few other great options like intimidation bolt. But I can't help but feel like bolt is too situational.
Removal
Not much has changed here. A few adjustments. This is all just preference.
I did add rootborn Defenses. I wanted another indestructible enabler. I have been pleased with it so far.
Theft
Cards like Grab the Reins, wind ricochet, reiterate and even Debt of Loyalty can be used for thefty shenanigans. All solid.
With Wheel of Fortune and Reforge the Soul, We now have a way to disrupt others and fill our hands again so we have gas to finish the game. I don't play red, aside from this deck, and these seem to be must haves. After playing a few games, I am never sad to seem these cards.
Steelshaper's Gift is a solid tutor for the deck. We have 5 equpiment and I believe 4 tutors. That means 1 out of every 11 cards, statistically, will functionally be an equipment. The other tutors are Godo, Bandit Warlord, Stoneforge Mystic, & Stonehewer Giant.
Godo is a house in this type of deck. He fetches an equipment and he gets a samurai based Aggravated Assault ability built into him. Perfect for what I want here.
stoneforge mystic and stonehewer giant are great fetches and they can carry swords into battle just fine.
Aurelia is Aggravated Assualt on a stick. A 3/4 flying vig haste angel stick.
I decided the other angel that deserved to stay was Gisela, Blade of Goldnight. This angel changes the game when it lands. It doubles our damage output (think gratuitous violence on a stick). It also doubles our opponents damage output on other opponents. AND it halves the damage our creatures/I receive.
Charmbreaker Devils work great with sunforger nonsense. Plus, they swing like a champ.
Most of these creatures make a lot of sense for the deck:
Aven Mindcensor is a solid beater with a cool ability.
Boros Guildmage can give haste and/or first strike. 2/2 for 2. Fits our theme perfectly.
Sunhome Guildmage is also an excellent card for us. 2/2 for 2. He can pump all of my creatures at once and/or make tokens. Another solid card
Boros Reckoner is a great card for this deck. It's so great, I almost want to find room for Darksteel Plate. Plus, it's a minotaur wizard. Who wouldn't play a minotaur wizard?
Frontline Medic is another great addition to the deck. Granting all of my creatures indestructible and is a solid creature in it's own right. Perfect.
Hero of Bladehold triggers Tajic's ability on her own. She also pumps everyone.
Mirran Crusader seems to fit nicely as well. built in evasion/double strike. Is a human.
Silverblade Paladin is great here. Granting other creatures double strike is a beautiful asset to have. Again, is a human.
Sublime Archangel helps us get there. Yes, her ability can be counter productive to our goal. But a 4/3 flying/exalted angel is nothing to laugh about. In the event you do have tokens running rampant, She will shine. If that does not happen, She will get there in the air. I like what she has to offer to the deck.
Sun Titan has many targets(26 not counting lands). Instant include in a deck like this.
Taurean Mauler is another one of those multiplayer must haves. Either remove it or be punished heavily. This can get out of hand quickly.
Urabrask the Hidden is amazing tech for the deck as well. Never sad to pull him off the top.
There's one I'm a bit hesitant about:
Boros swiftblade. It is not a bad card, with all the pumps and equipment but I just have never gotten a chance to see him shine yet. If a better two drop comes up, I may have to say bye bye to this one.
The Enchantments are much better this time around.
Glory of Warfare is a great pump spell for us
gratuitous violence is another amazing pump spell
mobilization is used mainly for the token generation but it does grant Tajic vigilance also. Which is icing on the cake that is Tajic.
stranglehold has saved me many times from U decks and I have only played the deck 10 or so times. I would imagine this is an auto include for any red deck.
Cards that would suit well if I wanted a heavier token theme would be
1 Hellrider
1 Cathars' Crusaders
1 Geist-honored Monk
1 Captain of the Watch
1 Mentor of the Meek
1 Odric, Master Tactician
1 Increasing Devotion
Truthfully, I don't want another token themed deck. I want this to be something different. But realistically speaking, a token theme may do wonders for Tajic.
Also, Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Gideon seemed to get cut somewhere along the way. I do not know how I feel about those cuts. Gideon easily became a large indestructible creature. He also took the heat off of myself directly. Gideon would be swung at, leaving them open for turning everything right and hitting as hard as possible. Maybe one of these, or both, deserve to be in the final cut.
All in all, I'm very pleased with the deck like this. It could use some tweaking but it is solid. Any thoughts would be appreciated
I really like the idea of "something to do with my extra mana at every eot while adding pressure and board"
