I know I have lost an arm made of gold-
    A pound of flesh,
    A hand set in stone

    Fibers stripped away-
    The sun marvels at
    Naked, glorious
    bones

Stuff I need to get around to:

Iggy Azalea, Pharaoh Monch, Chuck Inglish, Kool A.D., Girl Talk+Freeway

I've listened to the first half of Iggy's album, which is pretty solid. I hear the second half is a lot worse though, which is kinda unfortunate. But speaking of Female MCs, I'm pretty hyped to see legit women rappers again. Iggy got derailed on some pop ***** for a bit, got back at it though. Nikki Minaj has been back to her old "Monster," self, and I can't stop listening to leikele47 (I typed in several butchered mispellings searching for that link just now, before I decided to just punch in lekkelei47 into youtube). She's got some legit bars. Sometimes the hook structures get a bit repetitive, but sometimes it's perfect, like C&C (linked).

Sleepy week, huh? I really liked Blippy's. It's understated and plain in a way I like.

Similar thoughts on Ilvaldi- simple details nicely presented.

Itinerant eyes with a penchant for

    Wanderers vices

They linger long on a strangers tits

Or the ass of a dear friend

    Because hell, who am I?

The rest of me stays faithful-

But I am not my eyes

I love you and never want to leave-

But I am not my eyes

I want only to be perfect for you

But I am not my eyes

And I would give up sight and crawl
On hands and knees by the sound
    Of your voice;

But I am not my eyes

This link has nine of his songs from this year. The link for Coast is Clear is broken on that link, and since the end of March he released The Writer, which brings his single count for 2014 up to 10. A full ******* album. In singles. By April. While he was touring. Dude's a grinder.

On the weird and experimental side of things, Sisyphus is really good. Sufjan Stevens, Son Lux, and Sarengeti made a thing. Sometimes it's rap? Sometimes it's not? Sometimes its very Sufjan Stevensy, and sometimes it's just an incredibly infectious wall of angry noise. Couldn't stop listening all day.

Also, Heems made a thing for a Japanese Vitamin water commercial and yes it's exactly as weird as it sounds.

Okay, so uhhh...I didn't like it at first but

    TRAPLAWD SEESUN BUHGINS

Anyway, in terms of hip-hop, I've been drifting pretty hard into fringy type ***** this year. James Blake, Chet Faker, SOHNS, Ta-Ku, that sorta stuff. The "real" hip hop this year has been kinda disappointing. MadGibbs is so good, not sure how I feel about Ratking yet, the new De La Soul mixtape put me to sleep, Isaiah Rashad is nowhere near as good as the rest of black hippie; and I'm counting the mediocrity that was Oxymoron.
Chance the Rapper's deluge of singles this year goes hard.
SZA's album so far sounds good.

Mostly just waiting for rumored Frank Ocean and Kanye this year, hoping (as ever) for the usual cast of out-there cats who always impress a-la FlyLo, Chance the Rapper, Danny Brown, or El-P.

Has anyone listened to Satellite Flight, by Kid Cudi? Indicud has me so jaded about the dude's music that I'm reluctant to listen.

    I...almost didn't remember entering this.

Blippy takes this. Didn't even pay attention to the syllable count the first time I read the poem; it was the furthest thing from a distraction.

Liked Zelderex's but the red/blue/yellow palette threw me off.

Really liked Blippy's, just wish it had stuck with the reductive haiku thing (went 5/7/5 4/6/4 3/5/3 and then 2/2/2, which is where it lost me)

    When was it 2/2/2? Confused

And the award for Curse MVP goes to...

Change vote. You're right, misread a line. Yeah, okay. I loved the concept and thought the poem nicely reflected the concept.
changed vote to ilvaldi/Blippy. Is that allowed?

Oh hey, hadn't noticed the whole Primary Colors thing. Wrote it in three sittings, so while I only meant to use the R/U/Y to depict fireworks, it kinda spilled over.

    I stumble
    lead footed
    and stone faced
    onto that pale
    beach

    My path is
    lit by the
    harsh,
    crackling
    chandeliers:
    roaring red
    and blue
    and yellow
    in the sky:

    I can feel neither
    my lips nor
    my toes

    Watch them as they go
    Watch them as they grow
    Roses into death throes
    Rosy cheeks into screaming tis
    Sultry eye flits into
    Distant, pale lips

Did they remove the option to see who voted for what? Hopefully it's still available for poll starters, because otherwise it gets hard to enforce voting rules (not that many Hosts have ever had many problems with them).

Anyway, voted for Preve. I just loved the rhythm and phrasing, my mind was just kinda drawn across words and ideas, those ugly rolling phrases like "latticework bleeding structures" flowed in a way that, at least to me, reflected that idea of an end being inviting; as though it were an ending as natural and immediate as the next word in a rhyme, or as alliteration off the tongue.

    A tiny angry man
    In a large angry body

    A Russian nesting doll
    Of symptoms and diseases

    And symptoms and diseases

"You are one with the ocean!
    And the trees!
And the sun and the breeze!"

Who the **** has ever heard
    Of an autistic ocean?

    Is the sun bipolar too?

    What are the trees taking?

Maybe I'll like those pills better,
A change of scenery, at least-
    Some new diagnoses

Better than the deep freeze "normal"
    Better than the stillwater "normal"
Better than the steel jawed all singing all tap dancing all praising all calm all collect all god fearing all brotherhood of man loving all mother ****ing god damn

    "Normal"

    Maybe I'm just hungry.
    Maybe I'm just lazy.
Maybe I'm just a tiny, angry man
    In a large, angry body,
    In a massive,
    All consuming,
    All enveloping,
    All surrounding,
    All apathetic
    Tiny,
    Little,
    World

And maybe I'm sick of using my flowery, vivid, passionate, sanguine and expressively ornate

    Tiny,

    Little,

    Words

So based on the 3 tracks that have been released so far for Schoolboy Q's album Oxymoron, I'm pretty stoked for it. Not to mention good features in the line up; Rae, Danny Brown, Kendrick, Rocky.

He's said that nothing that came out in 2013 will be on the album. Dude is on the slow track to becoming the black, west coast Despot

Finally gave Aesop a serious listen. I'm almost creeped out by his wordplay sometimes, never heard anything like it. This dude a genius or do his fans just read too deep between the lines of his lyrics? A lot of it seems to bypass conscious understanding and it has a subconsciously chilling effect. Lotsa neurolinguistics unless I'm giving him too much credit

Too much credit. He's just one of the best at making word salad with consistent cleverness and running themes

Don't understand why anyone would buy either without games....

Because the XB1 does other cool stuff. I'm normally a diehard PS guy, but the PS4 felt complacent to me. Like, they want me to spend $400 so I can stream? Really?

Dont let people get you with the 1080p VS 720p upscaled. The only game so far with a significant difference graphically is CoD: Ghosts, which has framerate issues on PS4. Graphics are NOT the selling point of either of these consoles, and the fact is that games will either be developed for both consoles, and will look the same, or will be developed for one and will do everything it can to get the most out of the hardware.

It's really a question of how you'd like to use your machine. If you want to play all the biggest blockbusters, watch netflix on it, or just multitask (picture in picture is what made me switch from Playstation 3 to Xbox 1: I'm a huge sports fan and I hate choosing between video games and watching a game), go for the Xbox.

If you want to play tons of indies on it (personally, not big for me since I use my PC for those), are excited by the MMOs slated to launch for it, think Kinect is stupid, don't care about the non-game stuff so much, or don't think the other features justify $100, PS4 is for you.

But by and large, it's a preference call with no right answer. For the first time, both manufacturers have put out a great product with stellar controller design, online services, and hardware. Even all the big name titles that were once sony exclusives like Metal Gear Solid and Kingdom Hearts will find their way on both platforms. If you have friends with the consoles, or have a gamestop with demo displays, check them out. See which UI you find easier to navigate, which controller feels more comfortable, because at the end of the day, the right console for you is the one that pisses you off the least.
