How substantial is Ulvenwald Tracker to you guys/gals? I'm on the fence about him. I really haven't seen him much when playing. The few times i actually played him, i used him twice, the rest he was just a target. Normally that's the first thing i side out in almost any match as well.
It's been a little while since I've been on these forums, but I noticed this thread. I'm working on testing a list similar to the past few lists posted in this thread. I can't say i've honestly read any of the posts yet, except the deck lists, but will be doing so after posting my version of this list.
I'm sure some people will dispute the Golgari Charms, but there are quite a bit of token producer lists in my meta, followed by midrange with Lingering Souls/Midnight Haunting.
Haven't really got to do too much testing with it yet, but heading on cockatrice now to see what it can do. I'll post results later.
Edit:
I've been testing quite a bit tonight. So far the hardest match up I've had was American Midrange and an American Control list. Losing to the Control list 2-1, and the midrange list 2-0.
Other than that, i've played 4 different naya midrange lists, winning 2-0 against all 4. 2-1 against a 4c Midrange list. I've played 1 Mono \ed that I barely managed to win 2-1. 2 Rakdos Aggro that went 2-0 in my favor, and one Jund Midrange that was also 2-0.
Edit 2: I'm not sure if anyone has used, or thought about using, Underworld Connections. So far in testing it has worked really well with Arbor Elf. The Synergy between the two has helped me pull a few wins out as well. I'd really like to find a way to possibly add a second. It's definitely up in the air. I'm not trying to clog my 3 drop spot, but it helps keep us fueled, and allows us to draw multiple cards a turn. The life loss hasn't been too significant off of it. If I decided to add a second one, not sure what to take out, considering most of the cards have their advantages in this list.
I know I've read that Deadbridge Goliath was significant for them, but every time I've managed to draw him, he's been lac luster. He has good synergy with Troll, and is a nice body for 4, but seems a tad underwhelming to me. Not writing him off completely, but he may be what I cut for the second Underworld Connections.
Also; I really do like the 1 of Garruk, Primal Hunter. Unfortunately out of the 20 some odd games I've played, I've seen him in my hand 3 times, and played him once. The one time I did play him, was used to kill him off instantly to refuel my hand. Not sold on removing him, but it's another consideration for the second Underworld Connections.
Any feedback would be great. Going to continue testing, and recording against the major archetypes, and report back with more standings.
Edit: Changed up the mainboard a little. Took out a 1 of Wolfir Silverheart. I love the card, but 9 times out of 10, it sits in my hand. It's great with anything that has a rancor on it, or troll, but there's so much Selesnya/Azorius Charm(s) that it almost seems like you're begging for your fatty to get charmed. As annoying as it is, and as much of a setback as it is, to have your creature bounced back to the top of your library... I find it better to be able to draw it right back off the top with Connections and potentially draw another threat. Not sure if it's going to be a permanent change, or if ill put the 2nd Silverheart back in and tweak around more with taking out something else.
@ Knight - I am not sure how I feel about Trostani, The lifegain is good but you dont have any amazing populate tokens. I can see why your running it just not sure I would.
So far Trostani has proved herself rather useful. There isn't much spot removal floating around that people are running from what i've seen other than Slip. I'm still testing with her, and she very well may not make the cut, but for now she's proven useful.
As for sideboard, it's still wide open. With not knowing what the meta will look like yet, it's hard to judge how to build a sideboard.
More than likely there will be:
3-4 Rest in Peace
2-3 Pithing Needle
2-3 Duress
0-1 Oblivion Ring
0-1 Abrupt Decay
0-1 Liliana of the Veil
0-1 Vraska
2-3 Naturalize
0-1 Terminus
0-2 Curse of Death's Hold
I saw this thread and took interest in it. I've been testing around the past weak with a Junk Super Friends list with a buddy of mine playing G/B Zombies. Tested a few other random lists here and there. This is what I've tweaked the list to look like so far:
I've been toying around with different variations of trading post lately, and stumbled across this forum. I've been playing the blue white version more than anything, but a buddy of mine and I had a good laugh at the thought of stuffy doll in a trading post list with all the aggro in our meta. With that thought we came up with the conclusion of Blasphemous Act as well. I see a few people have strayed away from mono red, but wanted to post this mono red list i threw together with the thought of stuffy doll and act.
Can't say i've honestly seen anything along the lines of miracles, or naya miracles up here. This is something i've been testing for a little while. Haven't posted in these forums in a while, so I figured I would get some input on this list.
This isn't a fast deck by any means. So if quick is what you're looking for, this is not it.
The list is pretty self explanatory. Noxious Revival and Reclaim allows for putting any used or pitched miracle card back to the top of the library. Entreat the Angels and Bonfire are the win cons.
Testing has been pretty decent so far. Still need to put more time in it and figure out where the strengths and weaknesses are. There was a lot of fat trimmed off the list already.
As for the sideoboard, it changes constantly. I haven't found any set card that i want to keep in the SB yet. With my meta changing constantly every week, my SB changes with it.
I ran across this thread when you first put it up and couldn't help but chuckle at your idea. I saw it and instantly fell in love with hit. I've been doing quite a bit of testing with it, even though it's just a fun list for me, and it's been doing fairly well in most match ups. Then again my list is quite different from the rest. I liked the Chancellor's, but i hated how clustered my hands got with them, and being incapable of dropping them at times. I changed the list around pretty significantly but this is my version of it that's been extremely fun.
The SB is more geared towards my meta. It's heavy with U/B control and zombies. Not only that but there's a slew of swords and ratchet bombs flying about.
I know it's not like everyone else's with all the chancellors, but i tried it and it wasn't as fun or consistent. Any thoughts or suggestion are always welcome.
I find myself continually coming back to this thread, and progressively growing more intrigued by it. I've read the primer's. Out of curiosity, has there been any competitive testing with any of the lists? Or has there been a list multiple people have settled on that have been producing good results?
Yeah I wasn't sure if the raw speed of Frights (and somewhat more consistent mana base with mulch and one drops) outweighed the heartless/mass removal options. Act seemed as hard to cast as DoJ, so I didn't see a huge difference between it and a 4th wrath. Whipflare was nice against tokens but that's another piece that could be replaced with ratchet.
I imagine this deck beats up frights but I'm a little more wary of aggro decks and w/u then the slower guys
Aggro really isn't much of an issue. The only real aggro list i had problems with was the G/R Aggro list.
W/U is only an issue if it's traditional control, being as they run quite a bit of counters. With that, you've got to play cards and exhaust the counters. Bate where you can.
Wow that came out extremely well. Im more than pleased by this. Best sig ive had by far. Ill put it up with a shout out to you once I get to my computer. Again great job and thank you
Hey guys, I was wondering if I could request a signature done with y'all. It's been far too long since i've had an updated signature. What i was looking for is a signature with:
Havengul Lich in the center.
Elesh Norn to be to the left of Havengul Lich.
Rune-Scarred Demon to be to the right of Havengul Lich.
The Heartless Summoning art to the right of Rune-Scarred.
And last but not least, Unburial rights to the left of Elesh Norn.
If this is too much, you're more than welcome to slim it down however you see fit. I have nothing specific in mind for it, other than the card choices and the order they go in. I'd like to thank you all in advance, and say keep up the good work. Your work looks amazing. Thanks again.
