You mentioned 'Mirrodin Pure' - now that's something I hadn't heard of either. If you can link any news/rumors I'd happily read up.
Mirrodin Pure was the alternate name for New Phyrexia back when we were in Besieged, since the winner hadn't been announced yet. Mirrodin Pure would have been the name if Mirrodin won, but since Phyrexians won, the set was named New Phyrexia.
And since hes got a 7 body, hes almost better than sphinx, because what are they going to do? drop THREE bolts on him? And we already know that swords does nothing to him...
I for one welcome our new demon overlords....
Swords does do something to him if we have a Cursed Totem out, however. That was the point of this discussion.
Round 1: some random G/W aggro
I don't remember much about this round, other than I stomped him pretty bad.
1-0
Round 2: Naya-pod
Game 1 - He won the dice roll, and started off blisteringly fast, with a turn 2 Thalia which slowed me down incredibly. I could not recover from it, and he rolls me easily.
Game 2 - I essentially overwhelmed him with Lingering Souls + Gather the Townsfolk + 2 anthems, and even with a Bonfire he could not recover.
Game 3 - I should have lost this one considering just how badly I misplayed, but that's later on. He starts off the game, again, with a T2 Thalia. This is where the misplay comes in. I'm sitting on 4 mana with an Angel in hand, and for some reason I didn't process it as a creature for Thalia for some reason. I have a couple of tokens on board, no anthems, and he pods away Acidic slime (which he used to blow up an Isolated Chapel even though I had a Vault in play) to get Inferno Titan, killing 3 of my tokens. I then topdeck a Honor of the Pure, which I slam down, with 4 Human tokens in play. He attacks into it, killing 1 and trading with the other 3. I finally realize my mistake, and manage to topdeck a land to play Angel. At this point, the biggest things on his board is his restoration angel, and everything else is smaller than my Angel, and because I manage to finally get more lands to play my spells, I essentially managed to stabilize with her (pointing a big middle finger at Pod). He still can't find a Bonfire, and I proceed to roll him once I had enough of a board position.
2-0
Round 3: W/u Humans
I knew his deck, and the only blue he has is for Geist and Moorland Haunt. Considering he doesn't play board wipes, all I had to do both games was get a bigger board presence, which I did with ease.
3-0
Round 4: Solar Flare
Game 1 - He did nothing but play Planeswalkers, and 1 Day of Judgment. Tried to Gideon-lock me when I only had 2 tokens on board, but an EOT Midnight Haunting into anthem allowed me to push through easily. He couldn't find an out fast enough and I won relatively easily.
Game 2 - Got stuck on lands, which means he could not resolve anything useful before I overwhelmed him. He managed to Terminus once.
4-0

Top 8:
Quarterfinals: Solar Flare
Different guy, almost the same story.
Game 1: My opponent completely mana-flooded. Dropped a Tamiyo and a Gideon, one of which I killed and the other I swung past.
Game 2: Same story. Managed to Terminus once, but could not find a Ratchet Bomb, and I rolled again.
5-0-2
Semifinals: Wolf-run
Game 1:
After going the whole day without seeing one, I groaned when I realized who I was playing, guessing this was probably my last match of the day.
Game 1: About turn 4-5 in, I have 2 Humans, 1 Doomed Traveler, and a Hero of Bladehold. He has 2 Wolf tokens and an unflipped Huntmaster in play. This is where he misplays horribly and gives me the game: He Slagstorms without even bothering to attack. Apparently he thought Hero was a 4/3. This mistake easily gives me the game, as he can't drop anything important in time.
Game 2:
He mulls to 5, but I keep a semi-slow hand, which gives him enough time to build a board presence. I did play 2 Go For the Throats throughout (this is important), 1 for a Huntmaster and 1 for a Prime Time. Fast-forward several turns, where I have a sizeable amount of tokens but no anthems since he blew them up, and he has a Primeval, another creature, and an Inkmoth in play. He has enough to pump Inkmoth for 10 or a creature for 11 (this is also important). I swing with 6 flyers, leaving 1 for defense and still having a few ground blockers. I'm somewhere above 10 life and 0 poison, and I have 2 cards in hand (one of which is a Divine Offering) and 3 mana open. He looks at my board, then my graveyard, realizes what kill spell I've been playing, and swings with an Inkmoth into my lonely flyer. I block, and he taps all his mana, which is exactly enough to kill me with Poison. I Divine Offering and win the game.
Finals: Wolf-run
After all this, it was kind of depressing to face another Wolf-run, this time with a pilot that is much more solid than my last opponent. I mull to 5 game 1 and never get off the ground, and on game 2 he erases my board several times, including 2 back-to-back miracled Bonfires.
I get 2nd, but because of the structure of the tournament, I get nothing for prizes But good magic was played all day long at least.
A few remarks:
Revoke Existence is really bad in my meta. I'm going to cut them, and replace them with a 2nd Divine Offering for equipments and a 3rd Timely to deal with R/G aggro.
Shrine of Loyal Legions will probably be cut too, since there's no real control in my meta (I don't count Solar Flare).
Lastly, if your meta is filled with wolf-run & R/G, this is probably not the best deck to play, as Tokens is supposed to prey on current versions of Delver and other tempo decks that doesn't play a lot of board sweepers.
Oh, and savvy readers will note that she doesn't just get basic Swamps.
Though I'm not sure how that could ever matter, really. There aren't any other kinds of Swamp legal in Standard, and I can't see Snow coming back any time soon (it's currently pretty warm up here in lovely Renton, WA, and we're not exactly hankering to give ourselves the chills).
I'm just pointing that out for completeness' sake. Due diligence. Do it right or don't do it at all, etc., etc. I would be remiss if I didn't.
I'm trying to figure out which planeswalkers currently have any direct relation with Bolas. I know that Tezzeret and Sarkhan are working directly for Bolas, and possibly Liliana? Is that correct or am I missing something?
Cool so I bought the boosters and this is what I got,
#1, trip wire, empty city ruse, wolf pack (decent)
#2, corrupt officials, barbarian general, Diaochan, Artful Beauty (decent again)
#3, Zodiac pig, Imperial Recruiter (yay!), Burning of Xinye (pretty darn good)
So my question now is should I get Imperial Recruiter and Burning of Xinye graded? Burning is perfect and will get a 10, Recruiter will get a 9 or 9.5 because it is VERY slightly off center.
I basically bought the cards with the intention of selling any money cards that were not Capture of Jingzhou or Imperial Seal, but I'm not sure if getting them graded will make the market for them so small that they never sell. what do you guys think?
Damn nice pulls. Do you know if your seller is still selling packs?
Stromkirk Nobel went from $5 to $13 overnight. Just as a goblin guide replacement or is there another use for this card I am missing? Anyone think the price will continue this way?
My guess is all the RDW that placed in the SCG Opens? Not 100% sure but that seems the most likely.
Also, what happened with Liliana? Went up to 60ish overnight...
SCG had one pod list that barely squeezed into top 32, a Naya aggro list. No BUG, junk, or Bant lists here. Could this just be a result of an unpredictable metagame, or is this the death of pod?
TBH I don't know if I like the blue splash as much right now, and a couple reasons:
It seems like your forcing blue just for snapcaster mage, which doesn't always have a target in this deck, and you do risk slowing yourself down because of both leaving mana open for mage and because of the mana base. Also, the U/W utility land does seem kind of slow, and very conditional. Although I personally think straight up WW is best, if you were to go with a splash, IMO green would probably be the best, since the G/W land is much more synergistic with the deck, and you will have access to another lord (somewhat) in the form of Mayor of Avabruck.
Mirrodin Pure was the alternate name for New Phyrexia back when we were in Besieged, since the winner hadn't been announced yet. Mirrodin Pure would have been the name if Mirrodin won, but since Phyrexians won, the set was named New Phyrexia.

I played in a Black Lotus tournament (lotus for 1st place only, no other prizes) with this list:
4 Doomed Traveler
4 Champion of the Parish
3 Hero of Bladehold
1 Angel of Jubilation
Enchantments:
4 Honor of the Pure
4 Intangible Virtue
2 Oblivion Ring
Sorceries:
4 Lingering Souls
4 Gather the Townsfolk
4 Midnight Haunting
2 Go for the Throat
Planeswalkers:
1 Elspeth Tirel
Lands:
11 Plains
5 Swamp
4 Isolated Chapel
3 Vault of the Archangel
3 Surgical Extraction
2 Timely Reinforcements
2 Revoke Existence
1 Divine Offering
3 Shrine of Loyal Legions
2 Dismember
2 Celestial Purge
6 rounds into top 8.
