    Simply amazing.

The 5 allied color trio and 5 enemy color trio makes sense. Flavorwise, it would seem that for each guild, there's an internal separation as to which guild they are being allied to.

But that leaves us with 5 more cards in a 180-card set. What's next? Will there be a cycle of four color guildmana cards? (like, W/G mana B/G mana U/B mana G/U mana W/U mana W/B mana can represent the WGUB combination)

15 great rares in a core set isn't too surprising. 7th and 8th had their share of cool rares too, if you're willing to look.

10 painlands is a bit much for me, though. That's five more rare slots taken up. I can see it happening (and I wouldn't complain much), but not really likely.

I would have said the Hippie is an impossibility, but after seeing Underworld Dreams in 8th I just don't know anymore.

Get that picture the hell out of your post; the last thing anyone needs is a visit from WotC Legal.

:confused3: Why would they visit anyone who posts photoshoppery?

Or are you saying that these are actually real?

(Incidentally, is that new Lotus really drawn by Chris Rush?)

EDIT: It is. First time I see it though.

Like y'all said, the returning lands does not fit with the rest of the block. Sunburst didn't fit also, but flavorwise it was great, because of the fifth sun and all. So did the CC matters theme of Scourge; but it felt correct because of the big-ass expensive creatures of Onslaught. (Prophecy's Rhystic didn't fit at all with the rest of Masques block, but let's not go into that.)

Now, number of cards in hand fits with the theme of Wisdom, and high-cc creatures, plus soratami bouncing, plus ninjutsu, so it's not so out of place. But returning lands to hand in general (Not as a color-specific ability, 'natch) sound like they belong in another block altogether. (Like a Rhystic block. Oops, I said we wouldn't go into that.)

I'd believe this more if it was a return permanents to hand, as it allows for nifty Spiritcraft and Shoal tricks, resetting of flip cards with spent ki counters, etc.

Fishy story, aye.. But I actually overlooked skullclamp myself when Darksteel came out. Got distracted by Ravager, Colossus and the other Incredibles.. i mean indestructibles. Only when someone pointed it out to me I said "good grief."

I mean, nuisance engine? And hot on its heels came myr servitor.. and I'm just thinking casually here..

Back to topic: Yes this can also work as an ACC that's actually more expensive for once. Something like

    CC: 2RB
Chutzpah 5 (If you control a swamp or mountain, you may play this for 5 mana instead)

Could be cool. Or broken. We'll see.

    I'm disappointed in two things:

    1. The mechanic, if it's real.

and 2. The behavior of people posting in the Rumor Mill.

State your opinion on the card, and if it's needed, the validity, and end it there. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it. And yes, it is possible to state "I believe this is fake, X is wrong and Y is wrong" without being anal about it. I'm sick of all the people around here that will yell fake at every card that comes along and every person that posts something. Unless you have conclusive absolute proof and evidence that their card is fake, then you need to get off of rumor poster's backs and find something better do to with yourself. The same rules apply here as on the entire rest of the forum; you do not flame people.

I also think some people here need to learn basic mannerism. There's a line between calling fake and blatantly flaming the messenger. Yes I'm pissed about tightline/tingle/etc too but that's mainly because he was an abusive flamer in the first place. His torrent of fake cards were otherwise amusing, if only for the futile effort.

Now: That's probably not how Shinen works. We've discussed it in the Lotus Noir thread, so I think your "store owner" (if there really is one) is lying.

    There. Simple, no?

I expect the first mechanic will be blue-exclusive, because if red or green has it too with a little card-drawing it can get really silly, really fast - especially since we have Heartbeat of Spring still in the block.

The second one.. I'm not sure. The way you say it doesn't make it feel very guild-specific (it's more like "all creatures with flying gain first strike"), but WotC should be able think of some way to make it work. We still don't know for sure how the guilds are going to be implemented, anyway!

Good ideas here, real or fake notwithstanding.

EDIT: And I just got reminded of the Sky Weaver, Hate Weaver and their allied-color-boongiver buddies from Invasion. We'll probably have allied-guild-boongivers in Guildpact.

I liked Ixidor, but the rest of Onslaught block's character was forgettable. Kamahl didn't stand out as much as he should.

Mercadia had a strong basis for a story, pity that we only had merfolks as prominent non-human species - it didn't feel like Magic much. I'm curious to see what Ravnica will bring.

This artwork definately has more depth (artistically) than some of the other Kamigawa I've seen.

Much less depth to it than the fat guy in the "Part II" link.

Artistic Kamigawa cards? You're forgetting the dragons, 8.5 tails, Kumano, Wicked Akuba, Yomiji, Clash of Realities, Ink-Eyes, Genju of the Falls, ...

Can't have all of the art kick ass. I fell in love with Odyssey and 7th Ed art during the previews, and a lot of them turned out to be meh anyway. Chill out Wink

Zombie-guy's not holding a Konda banner per se, just a red flag and a lantern.

    The Ki-rins are SWEET.

Can't wait to see the other Ascendants (mortal-turned-kami). I think one of them, at least, should be female, eh?

And with so many lanterns floating around, the expansion symbol finally begin to make sense.

Hohoho! Lose the game if it deals damage? Sounds cool. Hermetic Study, Donate, respond with a poke. GG.

Shinen looks awfully similar to ninjutsu. (but it looks like the combat participant doesn't have to be unblocked) If this is true, the drawbacks has to be pretty nasty - Lose X life, empty hand, give away creatures, etc. I'm guessing the Ki-rins will have this ability as well. But what does "random" in his post mean, exactly?

For spiritcraft, outside of block you lose all the Arcane, but theres still at least a few spirits. Both of these abilities maintain at least some effectiveness outside of their home block, and will even add more playable cards from future sets (assuming the archetype is viable in extended or vintage). Chances are wizards will print at least one or two (possibly playable) spirits in Ravnica (new blocks almost always contain at least one or two cards that work 'well' with the former block, ie: crystal quarry).

These leave us with a block specific mechanic, which is done (splice). I am not disputing that there will be a 'guild mechanic' of some sort, there most certainly will be if any other information we've received is correct. Adding a second box when including 'Affiliation for blah' in the text box would do just as well (with appropriate rules explaining that this is a placeholder) wihout monkeying about with card templates, a wholly unnecesary change that would evoke as much 'i qit maigc now' ranting as the 8th ed card face change did.

Actually, It's possible that arcane might return in future blocks. (Pure random speculation on my part.) I know it's supposed to be spirit magic and whatever, but ancient, now-mostly-forgotten rituals once taught by the gods could also be constitued as arcane in another plane.

And I agree with the rest of your post.

The Judgment spoiler was because someone hacked Magic Online and found all the cards there.

Hmm. Actually it reminds me more of the LOTR TCG, where each "companion" has a race (Hobbit, human, elf, etc) as well as a "signet" and affiliation. Most cards refer to the affiliation, some refer to a specific signet while others depend on the race.

Also, the second type-line box isn't the first time they did something like this. Anyone remember Odyssey block's Tombstone icon? So it is possible.

That said, I'm not sold to this idea yet. I'm going to wait and lurk for a while before calling real or fake.

EDIT: Also, poor physical card sales of Kamigawa doesn't mean it's not popular. (It is being played a lot in Modo.) I love Kamigawa block, but I haven't bought many cards lately, for various reasons. I thought Odyssey block was so-so, but I went out and bought three boxes anyway.
