So today I was drafting my friend's (very expensive) cube. I would love to have one of my own, but don't want to pay for it. Instead, my roommates and I had a fun idea: All Multicolor Cube. I pulled one-ofs of most of my multicolor cards, rares excluded for now. I realize that this could be really silly.
Does anybody have any good ideas for what to make sure to include?
Important sets so far:
Signets, Obelisks, Talismans, Guildmages, Elder Dragons, Split-cards, etc.
Ok, so I was looking through some common boxes at my LGS, and I had a fun idea for a deck. Basically, Leyline of the Void with things that offer an opponent the option to exile cards from graveyards. So far, I have this worked out. It's crap, but that's why I come to you guys. Suggestions?
I second what Acrimone says about Sentinel. I had a playset and love this card, but knowing how well they work in Doran has led to me giving them all away to friends making Doran EDH.
So I was looking for a way to make a mono green mill deck, just to troll my meta, but I came across something that could actually do some damage. It's a GUW mill deck with space for a beatdown strategy as a backup.
The point of it is to abuse New Frontiers and Collective Voyage to set up a win-win-win scenario. 1, if they don't have basic lands, I get huge land advantage. 2, If they do have basic lands, I can Trepanation Blade them into instant mill. 3, they do have basics, but don't search for them, I have land advantage.
I'm thinking about taking out blue (for sphinx and crab) to do something with Baru, Fist of Krosa or something else to that same effect. White is purely in for steelshaper's gift, so it could be replaced.
This is just a framework around a concept so far. What can you think of to add to it?
Instead of Prophetic Prism, I'd recommend using Mox Opals and Springleaf Drums. Sphinx Summoners are also too slow for almost any deck considering the cut off at 3-4 CMC in modern unless it's just a complete bomb.
...Hence the tag, "...though it's not completely modern rebuilt yet."
It's true however that the summoners don't really help. I've had some luck swapping in Myr Servitor for annoying defense, as having two of them gives you a free block every turn. The reason I have Prophetic Prism in there is half for mana fixings, half for the cantrip. Being able to draw two cards off of prisms and mishra is pretty helpful when it can be done.
The deck generally wins (if it does) turn 4 or 5 with some sort of Etched ChampionCranial Plating things, though that's with inclusion of the banned lands.
Since Modern ruins this mana base, I might end up completely changing the deck and cheating out Mishra instead of hard casting, letting me change colors (but I love Esperzoa so much!). We shall see.
I'd recommend more 4-ofs. Also, you do know that Peat Bog is part of a cycle, yes? Saprazzan Skerry Sandstone Needle Remote Farm Hickory Woodlot
I'd recommend getting rid of Szadek and adding some creatures with Modular. I also really like Gilder Bairn for anything involving counters. Also, Thrummingbird is good fun and plays easy. Maybe not in 5 color though. Have fun!
Am I the only one who wants to recommend UB with Haunting Echoes? I feel like you could do a lot of milling with your current deck with a late game Haunting Echoes. I realize this gets away from the deck concept, so another idea would be splashing white for Path to Exile. I looked through options for white splash, and you could also add Oath of Lieges or maybe Oblation. Also, this is weird: Prophecy. Scour for some more removal. Visions to slow some dudes down.
That's all the white cards that could help you, and fortunately, they're all (except scour) only one W, so you can splash pretty easily for any of them.
I like this deck a lot. Keep up the good work.
Panoptic Mirror, Scrambleverse, Falling Star and Ensnaring Bridge are all excellent ideas. Exactly what I'm going for. Zephyrnoir, I don't understand how Galvanoth and Molten Psyche are very chaotic. Also, Chance Encounter is already on the list.
So I have a few old cards from bargain bins that really don't help either player consistently. I can't imagine every feeling the need to build decks around them in fact. In this case, I'm going to build a deck loosely around random chaos effects. The catch is, I need you guys to help me think of more cards to throw in the deck. I don't plan to have a consistent win con, since half the fun of it is having a crazy game that you could very possibly win by chance. So far here's what I have. Some of these I don't see myself using, some I do. What do you think?

I realize it doesn't have a real win condition yet, but I thought I could use the help before I spent too much time on Gatherer.

Edit: BOOM!

Also, don't suggest Chaos Orb
