Well, primarily bc this is a combo deck, and there is no answer to your genesis wave being countered, which I think would happen more easily in extended.
Heya tydobbs and all, I've been thinking of utilizing this same engine in extended since it's just so fun to play with, but maybe splashing blue, any thoughts? Or is it simply too fragile in that environment?
Heya guys, first post in this thread, I tried the version in OP last week, love the concept and it's great when it goes off However I've had some pain vs control decks with Jace. Once that hits the board and with 2 mana constantly untapped, it now costs 3 extra mana for every spell to counter mana leak (need 10 mana to genesis wave for 7?), and in the meantime Jace uses the +2 ability to remove genesis waves, etc. big threats from your deck. Also didn't get much luck with summoning traps, either I had one with no big creature, or had creatures but no trap. Does this not happen to everybody else? I notice stats like 60-70% in our favor after SB, it didn't quite seem that way to me but probably just small sample size.
Would anybody trade JTMS for duals in favor of duals? Despite the number of people in this thread who advocate this and say they would trade JTMS for duals, I have not seen many posts in the trade section for this type of trade I have, however, seen some offers like:
I would gladly trade Jace:TMS for duals. Duals will only ever drop in price if the eternal formats die out completely and if that happened then most everything else will have as well.
As for Jace:TMS? If he's ever reprinted or put in a duel deck then his price will plummet tremendously in an instant.
It's pretty much a no-brainer for longterm investment.
Love the article, pretty comprehensive! One thing not discussed, however is why Wizards would or should tweak formats to benefit players. Players also need to know that as with all companies, Wizards has long-term financial gains as a key driver - whether that 'benefits' a particular group of players who seek to have fun or profit is a distant concern. Magic's primary consumers are the consumers who continuously buy packs. Thus, prices are here to stay, PostModern will likely be a thing. In the meantime, players should diversify their collection to avoid price shocks and like the writer said, just say no to being exploited!
