Idunno, I kinda like the Galvanic Blasts for Mirran Crusaders and any other random, dorky 2 toughness guy that needs to die. And Metalcraft isnt out of the question with the pristine talismans and crawlers, lol =P
There's so much crap to cram in this deck, I didn't even think of Molten Psyche. I think the key is to have a solid early game and to not depend solely on killing them with Psychosis Crawler, that's why I have some Jaces in the list and Burning Vengeance.
This is completely new from any of the other UR decks that I've seen on the site, so bear with me.
I love me some good windfall effects. Standard has a few of these effects now with Jace's Archivist and Shattered Perceptions, along with alot of filtering in Desperate Ravings and Faithless Looting. I figured building a deck to take advantage of this would not only be cool and new, it might be extremely fun to play. Throw a little Burning Vengeance and Snapcaster Mage in the mix to take advantage of all the spells you will be throwing in your yard, and you got this.
The goal is simple. Survive, loot, draw cards, play a Psychosis Crawler, draw more cards, win the game. I like the pristine talismans in the deck because they can drop a Jace or Psychosis Crawler on turn 4, and gain you some life vs the aggro decks. I don't expect this to be some competitive tier 1 deck, but I think it's a nice fun deck that is new. Heck, if money is an issue for people, you can cut the Snapcasters and Jaces and put something cheaper in their place. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Are you kidding? Those 4 rares alone make the ****tiest deck of all time really, really good, especially the increasing devotion and the 2 utility lands. Seriously, those things are immense headaches.
Yea my first sealed, I played BW splash red for 2 Fires of Undeath and a Geistflame. The only rare I had in the deck was an Isolated Chapel. 3 of my other 5 rares were crappy curses, but I still ended up 3-1. As long as you have quality commons and uncommons you should be fine.
I hate Predator Ooze in standard right now. People will be running Tragic Slip and Dismember. Not a big fan of Young Wolf either, but eh..I think Sword of War and Peace fits nicely right now, slap it on a Thrun or Dungrove and get by all those pesky humans and spirit tokens.
Went to 3 sealed events, and my 2nd one was by far my best open. BR splashing white for Unburial Rites. It was the slowest deck known to man, but very bomby and if I could stabilize by turn 4-5, I was pretty much guaranteed to win.
Best game was when my opponent resolved a Falkenrath Noble on turn 4, and by my turn 6, had 4 other dudes out and I'm at 10 life. I slam Reaper from the Abyss on turn 6 with a Falkenrath Torturer out, by far my worst card. Every turn after that, mine as well as my opponents, I did not miss a morbid trigger. I sac'd the Falkenrath Torturer to himself to trigger morbid at end of turn, to kill his Falkenrath Noble and fall to 8 life. After that, it was removal spell after removal spell. The coolest play was when he had a Geistcatcher's Rig out when I'm at 4. He is at 12. My turn, I have a Devil's Play in the yard (due to Black Cat random discard) I COULD of flash it back for 5 dmg to kill the rig, but it didn't seem right. So I Unburial Rites my Falkenrath Torturer (of all things, lol) and sac him to himself to trigger morbid and knock out the Geistcatcher's Rig. My opponent conceded a good match, and I went on to not lose a match the rest of the day. Was a lot of fun.
Hmm, wonder how good Mimic Vat would be in this deck. Potential up-side
1)Skinrender becomes removal on a stick
2)Any Zombie enables all Gravecrawlers in the yard
3)Geralf's Messenger becomes an even BIGGER headache
4)Never bad having a Phyrexian Obliterator on the Vat.
He isn't anything special, but he's going into any mono-black zombie list. And the fact he can hit creatures in opponents graveyard is very relevant, shuts off Moorland Haunt, etc.
Posted a deck about a week ago, I still think it's pretty effective.
Obviously it's probably not the most fine-tuned list, but I feel like most Mono-Black lists will end up looking somewhat like this. I really want to put Smallpox into this deck, it seems like it might be ok, but who knows. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
If it costed 1, it would be a pretty sweet replacement from Joraga Treespeaker. I don't think it's playable in Standard as a 2 drop, unless you sideboard it in vs some control deck.
Too easily killed as a 1/1 (gutshot) and people are going to be playing spells by turn 2 most of the time.
Wow, its almost embarrassing seeing these posts.
Its between the removal Fires of Undeath or Hollowhenge Spirit.
Increasing Savagery is just way too lose. Maybe if it were an instant or your guy had hexproof, other than that, it jsut dies to removal and you just got timewalked.
Removal is always good in limited and fires of undeath hass flashback. 2 removal spells in 1... sign me up.
I believe the spirit is the pick here. Its a better combat trick and has evasion. I like it over the alpha, because if the have a fatty that you cant kill with the pump and block, or the creature thats going to kill you has evasion, you just feel stupid. Also, white is just the ebst color to be in in this format.
Hollowhenge Spirit isn't even in the top 3 cards in the pack. I've done some drafts over the weekend, and it's ok. Not anything special.
I also like a 1 of Mindslaver in the deck. You're already running Treasure Mage, and if you get a slave off with the combo ready, then you just win.

Lashwrithes and Phyrexian Obliterators. Not enough good cards to make the deck good if you keep it under 3
lol?
