I'm sure this has been covered by somebody at some point, But I've noticed most of the people worried about splashing heavier green for Atarka's, are not running Copperline Gorge. Why is this? It does allow to have to fetch less often for Stomping Ground, Typically I'm only having to fetch for my white source. Every so often yes I'll wind up at 14 looking for both sources, But so far Copperline has pulled its weight.
I'm actually kinda sad about the bear, I'm an alt 4th, foil 8th, foil 9th, foil 10th, foil m10, and an m10 from having 1 of every grizzly bear/runeclaw bear they made...
I want to say that when Iaquinta mentioned a "Green sideboard card" would be in the list rather than Noble Hierarch....I'm assuming Plummet, the destroyer of flyers one at a time....
Can we get any assistance in this department by chance?
@Jinholic, I think partially the reason we didn't receive Chieftan once more, is due to that damnable Fervor that took over the set.
(Granted, It'll have some cool interactions with the titans and other cards for a few months....but I'm going to miss my gob gob's Gob.....)
Alright.....It's kinda cool and kinda uncool that you already have most of the info Iaquinta, however it is certainly rather welcome!
This leads me to wonder about the other cards I and a few others have previously wondered about...
Spreading Seas, War Priest of Thune, Pyroclasm, and...
Ranger of Eos. (We have his birdie, we have his Mastiff....did we leave him back in Shards block?)
Thank you for your time and hard work.
Edit: Nevermind on Spreading Seas, just saw that recent developments cuts it out of the crunch....
Damn.
War Priest of Thune does seem rather fitting as the third "War" titled white card, as well as something that handles enchantments, (M12 had Demystify I believe which is unable to attend the M13 Release) and I do not think we've gotten white's core set equivalent of smelt/naturalize as of yet for this set. (I could be wrong)
Spreading Seas would be an awesome reprint for this standard....
What I'm wondering currently are the group's thoughts on reprints of:
Prophetic Prism/Reflecting Pool-esque card,
Ranger of Eos, (to go with his little Falcon and Mastiff that are already in the set)
Ponder, (as sleight of hand, preordain, serum visions, visions of beyond, think twice, and telling time are all out of the running...)
Pyroclasm/Volcanic Fallout,
Planar Clensing or a Black style board wipe,
and finally....
Just what the hell happened to my buddies the Runeclaw Bear and the Sacred Wolf???
(I collect stuff like that, especially Foils....Forgive me.)
Just curious as to everyone's thought process on a set that nears completion rapidly.
I've a question that I think someone would have an answer to...
In the past when we knew "Something" was going to be banned/unbanned, didn't someone already have an image of the article that was going to go live at midnight?
I can vouch for that being the case with jace/mystic, and ponder was an image used back when it got banned with it's group in modern, as well as punishing fire.
So if anything's changing tonight....
Where's the imagery?
I would absolutely Love having Telling Time return to standard....either in addition or in place of Sleight of Hand. TT is just too awesome Not to have around!!
Slipknot, Dr. Wurm, and the others that did respond to my earlier post in the thread, Thank you, I really appreciate it. Due to not being able to find my log in info for a couple of days and losing track of which thread held the discussion, (whoops...) I've not been able to reply.
As an answer to my own previous post, the only cards on the banned list I personally care about, would be Bitterblossom, and Preordain. I am not a Fae player, though I can see how that would Really help them, I just like the blossom for what it's capable of, those tokens have multiple, multiple uses, and the lifeloss is small compared to what a deck such as zoo can do to you without it on your side.
I play a deck in the colors of R/W/B based around bolt, helix, blightning, and other cards I've always loved/used in the past. Do I care if it's the end all be all best deck in the format? Absolutely Not. I would love to use the blossom to give me a little room to breathe in some matchups.
Now I agree/am in the camp of belief that a decent amount of cards on the banned list could come off with no relative problem to the format as a whole. (admittedly I do love valakut being On the list, but thats only because I simply dont have to deal with it being in the format. That being said, vala-vesuva? ouch.....)
Preordain coming off is something I support for the reasons of: It's a multi-purpose tool that I not only would enjoy playing with, but know that many, many decks would rather it than its cousin Serum Visions. (On the other hand my girlfriend was (and is) supersad when she found out they banned a card she actually used.)
On the topic area of zoo vs the world (and zoo's right on tha win)
I don't agree totally with the banning of miss kitty, but okeydoke they did...
I see the initial gut response to be Gob Guide, Ape, Lion, The Lynx, Miss Hiearch, and a few others, right on target. What the loss of Miss Kitty really does though, is split the old (modern) zoo into about 4 camps or so...
No Nacatl = No Absolute Must to be running at least Naya in color. (unless you must always pair your helix's with Goyf's and Kotr's)
One camp that will probably go under quickly, is one drop zoo, similar in build to most of Dan Musser's legacy versions.
The next would be Bloodbraid elf based- meaning it can go straight Gruul Aggro if one wanted-though restore balance is another cool thing to do with it-
Number 3 on my list, would be a the Super-Fetch version, running Steppe Lynx, Tribal Flames, Snapcaster/Confidant, Kotr, Goyf, more and more burn, and maybe even a Scapeshift to top it all off.
The 4th camp I see, would be a Zoo-Growing Experiment, Kavu Predator, Goyf, Kotr, Countryside Crusher, Splinterfright, Oust, Fiery Justice, Grove of Burnwillows, Ajani Vengeant, etc...
Seems it may still be basically Naya based after all, but it least it doesn't Have to be.
(In the meantime, till they figure it out and adapt with beast within....What does a typical (non specific) Naya based zoo deck do against the road block that is Phyrexian Crusader? Outside of a massive Goyf, he causes most Zoo player's I've met Massive Headaches....
On another note, how cute would it be to run a 4 or so color zoo deck based on actual real life zoo animals? apes, lions, big kitty's, Wolves that Watch a flock, Rhino monks that know a secret to life....so on and so forth? Seems playful, especially when the Giant Siege Tower leads a charge. hahaha
Just a few things to make people think. (regardless of how much some bits have been mulled over and toasted.)
P.S. I still love the format, I still find people that play awesome decks, and I'm still going to find a way to enjoy myself, format eventually oppressive or not.

(M10 had the castle, m11 the sentinel, m12 i forget at the moment even though innistrad had the manor....)
I like to collect these cards.

I love this game...they are basically remaking my all time favorite time period in standard. Thanks guys n gals!!!
I've absolutely no complaints.
Country-wise I mean.
