The idea of 4 relics post board never dawned on me. In any deck I choose relic it's typically been 2 or none.... Between relics, seas, adept, and copter....we never stop drawing cards! This sounds pretty sick honestly.

Hey guys, finally got the chance to play with my waveriders in legacy. I'm sold on smugglers copter in merfolk, was able to pull out a win against a smokestack contamination build that was actually pretty sick earlier primarily because of copter. (Ophinomancer is actually pretty good. Lol)

I played a build almost exactly like the one fanattic posted above. Just with a 4th chalice as my 61at main board card. Sb is kinda up in the air, I actually like spreading seas still vs the decks we can use it against. Still have some diehards in my area that love jund like I love merfolk and burn and there is a ton of stuff to board out in that match, boarding in stuff that's effective and draws cards is sweet.

I thought tidal warrior was insane. Though I am concerned by the fact he can be responded to and gotten around situation depending. (I faced a random tron build that kept O stoning me.) I'm assuming cloud post or lands could be similar. Never been a fan of back to basics so I'm going to try both seas and tidal for now.

I normally don't find myself agreeing with nikachu on card choices, but I believe I do when it comes to negate vs fluster storm. Having a hard time theorizing having an issue with the changeover.

I've been kinda missing v clique lately so I will likely work it back in. I'm actually a fan of harbinger of the tides so due to testing copters and tidal I've got him back in the board over something like submerge. May yet try tide binder, but am happy overall.

Any questions just ask, I love seeing you guys discuss the deck both in modern and legacy. This is one of the most informative and interactive threads I've seen. Almost everyday there's decent discussion going on in both formats. Most threadscan't offer half of that so certainly give yourselves a pat on the fins. You guys are awesome.

    Happy Easter!!

Finally had some time to give my waveriders some play in both modern and legacy. I'll stick to modern in here.

Overall I've been very pleased. Smugglers copter does give an additional angle. All the good stuff we knew already is great. It fits us just as well or better than it did the standard flash deck, as they played stuff like reflector mage and avacyn, while we have far more etb effects and static powers than that deck ever did.

I'll likely be playing it from here on out till we get more or better merfolk aka something like a blue ember hauler that spell pierces rather than shocks. Or draws a card. I've only played a handful of matches but it definitely feels like it belongs. Right now I'm on 3 copies at the expense of a 29th creature and main board spell pierces. I also regularly run 61 cards.

My sb isn't tuned any differently from most of ours on here. 4 seas claim, 5 counter spell mix of unified will and dispel, 2 relics, 2 tide binders and 2 echo truths. Feels fine so far but if someone has a better configuration let me know.

Against Living End, never assume the game is yours due to chalice alone, as they typically run cards like Ingot Chewer and Beast Within, trying to stall with Gnaw to the Bone till then. Remember to bring in your Relics if you use them because in this match your Chalice will be set to Zero rather than the typical 1.

It's worth it to sac your Cursecatchers to attempt to counter, even if they have the mana required since you'll get them back post End. This play is typically not enough, but every little bit helps. This match in particular is what reminds me that Cursecatcher is better than Cosi's Trickster, as an important g3 was lost due to not having a catcher for my opponents Anger of the Gods that he needed to resolve. He won 4 ftv Legends because of it that day....

I've been wondering, with regionals coming up on the same day as the pro tour, so far I've found I have something like 5 slots main and 3-5 slots open sb that I'm having trouble ironing out.

I feel (Chalice of the Void) is potentially a strong way to fight our semi-known meta either out of main or side but, I can't decide which way to go. Out of the 3 primary variations of Folk, what are the pros and cons between the Classic build (4 snag/dismember/pierce in any combination) the 6-7-8 Seas build, and Chalice main builds matchwise?

As for the rest of the deck most of us agree on the numbers on the rest of the deck, roundabout 28 core creatures, 4 vials and 20 lands, but those slight variations warp how the rest of the deck plays I feel. As I'm a player that gets stuck on all the options while having little playtime, I'd really like to see more discussion between the variants.

(Just in case, for reference I read this thread multiple times a day, loving the discussion of one of our favorite tribes. Merfolk is my primary modern deck and secondary legacy deck, flip-flopped with Burn. I play whenever I get a chance but being I've had a ton of personal stuff and work second shift I don't get to try out all my ideas.)

Thank you all and best wishes my friends!
