Played competitive last gen and did really well if I do say so myself. Kind of waiting until the the metagame stabilizes before I start competitive this gen, but from what I've seen weather teams are all the rage. That's unfortunate for me, as I really dislike weather for some reason. *shrugs*
Drizzle Politoed seems to be a fun 'mon to use though. Also, super excited that Blaziken will be OU this gen since he's one of my favorites.

Darkrai got banned because sleep mechanics changed too but I think he counts as a special pokemon. (Special Pokemon Clause)
Prediction just got ramped up, contrary to popular belief. The new team preview makes anti-leads kind of redundant and SR isn't going to be prevalent, but you'd have to be really experienced and good at prediction to choose your 3 pokemon.
Right now I'm running a Trick Room Reuniclus/Conkeldurr/Chandelure team. It's ridiculous.

Okay. Then my next question is this - I've been fighting Stunfisk's for days straight but only one of my Pokemon I've noticed his HP going up. And I read that in this Gen all the EV's are applied immediately. I've leveled the others up, saved, turned off, boxed them, taken them out and still haven't noticed anything. What's up with that?
Even though EVs are applied, it doesn't mean your HP is constantly going up.
If I ATK EV train my Kabutops, it's stat increases at 40-44 are:
