201.4. Text that refers to the object it’s on by name means just that particular object and not any other
objects with that name, regardless of any name changes caused by game effects.

    I guess not.

So I just.got back into standard and I wanted to know if I have two Favored Hoplite on the battlefield and I play giant growth on one , since there is two in play and the activated abilities read when Favored Hoplite is targeted and I am targeting Favored Hoplite both there heroics trigger for each other since they share name right.

No. when a creature refers to itself in its rules text, what it really means is "this creature". so what heroic really means is, "whenever you cast a spell that targets this creature..."

Detention sphere has an activated ability. when detention sphere enters the battlefield you may exile target nonland permanent and all other permanents with the same name. so as that ability resolves, it exiles them. It has no effect on any other permanents with the same name at any other time

    tl;dr: No.

So when the god cards are in a graveyards are they creatures or enchantments? Does it depend on the owners devotion or my devotion if I were to cast Animate Dead or Reanimate effects? Or are they simply just enchantments while in the graveyard?

Gods do not have Characteristic-Defining Abilities. so when they are in a zone other than the battlefield, they are creature enchantments regardless of your devotion.

(someone feel free to correct me if im wrong on this next part) though something to note would be that Animate Dead gains "Enchant Creature put onto the battlefield with Animate Dead". when the God stops being a creature due to you not having devotion >= 5, Animate Dead would fall off and you would have to sacrifice the God.

A clarification for the Kokusho scenario: you can't respond to the sacrifice effect, but there's something you CAN do.

    From the beginning,
    Cast Kokusho 1.
    Cast Undying Evil on K1.
Cast K2. K1 dies before you can do anything.
Undying triggered ability goes on the stack, trying to bring K1 back.
In response, cast Undying Evil on K2.
Let everything resolve. K1 comes back and K2 dies before you can do anything.
Undying trigger happens, trying to bring K2 back.
Assuming you're out of Undying Evils, K2 comes back, and you must sacrifice one of them before you can do anything.

    You've gained 15 and they've lost 15, and you're left with a 6/6 dragon.

Be careful how you ask questions to judges, since in a tournament, they're not allowed to tell you how to do what you're trying to do; they're only allowed to answer the exact question you asked.

very true. ive also been warned on here about giving extra strategic advise in my rules answers. Rolleyes

okay so I've understood questions a/c

mikeaus gives other non humans undying. so when I play the second one is he there long enough to give my first one undying as well? if so when and I have to sacrifice them to bring one back sacrifice the other one, bring it back then sacrifice one so that way it would have a +1+1 counter?

ah, sorry. i misread it. so, yes. you would choose one to keep and put the other in the graveyard. then an undying trigger would go on the stack and resolve, returning the Mikeaus. then when state based actions are checked again you would have to choose which to put into the graveyard. assuming you chose the one without a +1/+1 counter, the same thing would happen. when that undying trigger resolves you have 2 Mikeaus each with a +1/+1 counter. then you must choose one to put into the graveyard again. this time Undying will not trigger.

A - When you control multiple legendary cards with the same name you choose one of them and put the rest into the graveyard as a state based action. there is no priority here to cast spells or activate abilities.

B- I dont understand this question as they are legendary. if you are asking how two instances of Undying work together i can answer that. when a creature with two instances of Undying is put into the graveyard from the battlefield you will put two undying triggers on the stack. The first will resolve as normal. the second will try to resolve, but cant because the creature is no longer in the graveyard. See answer below

C - If you take an opponents creature and give it undying when it dies it will return to the battlefield under its OWNER'S control (your opponent)

  • posted a message on Blight Mamba vs Deadshot Minotaur
    Quote from The Fluff
Hi. I'm a little unfamilliar with rules on regeneration. For example, I have a Blight Mamba untapped. Opponent is attacking with a Deadshot Minotaur, which I block with the mamba.. I regenerate the mamba to save it from dying..

    Questions.

    1. Does the mamba still give the minotaur a -1/-1 counter? I remember someone say that a creature that regenerated does not give damage anymore.

    2. Mamba becomes tapped because I regenerated it?

    Thanks for the answers. Smile

Regenerate means, "The next time this creature would be destroyed this turn, instead tap it, remove it from combat, and remove all damage marked on it."

in this situation the regeneration ability applies after combat damage has been dealt. the Minotaur would get the -1/-1 as usual. Though, if somehow the minotaur had first strike. then the mamba would be removed from combat in the first strike combat damage step and would not deal any damage.

You are not wrong. Delver of Secrets was cast, it was also countered.

  • posted a message on Epic question
The short answer is yes. Epic doesnt apply until the spell resolves, so anything already on the stack stays and resolves as normal. there will be two triggers at the beginning of that player's upkeep for the rest of the game.

You are correct. if you sac your reckoner and make your aristocrat an illegal target then your opponent will have to choose a legal one. assuming this is all done in response to the spell being cast, not the ability on the stack. the target is not named until the oblivion ring is resolved and the enters the battlefield ability is put on the stack.

it does not. It would be a Coralhelm commander with no level counters on it. Counters are not part of a permanent's copyable values.

Faiths reward would resolve before the worldslayer ability in this case. it would not have the desired effect.
