This guy is a lot better than people are thinking. Sure, he can be killed, but then they are wasting a removal on a two drop instead of your bigger threats. Hes a nice follow up to your 1 drop zombies, or vexing devil. He can block something when he has summoning sickness, without worry of him dying. I think he is better than highborn ghoul for sure.
I def see this guy in a B/R aggro deck.
Who cares if you exile cards from your library. This is black, the only life, and the only card that matters is the last one! Wink

    Quote from Guy-Incognito
Why is anyone still arguing about the validity of The Flying Spaghetti Monster. the only argument presented thus far is I don't like it and thus it is a bad technique. I have read both articles the first one doesn't look at the argument itself instead just saying lol southpark thinks its bad. While the second one goes on to state that it is a poor argument because The Flying Spaghetti Monster must be a physical object (that not needing to be the case) and since its a physical object can't be powerful enough to create the universe. Your missing the point. The Flying Spaghetti Monster has all the same metaphysical traits as any unknowable being, and is used to emphasize the absurdity of such a being. By giving it undesirable physical traits is meant to make the opposing party try to disarm your "new" argument with same level of evidence they require for their critics to disarm their own which they can't. It is limited to ID and can then be used in any argument where The nature of god or the creator or whatever is a central point of contention.

    (I am agnostic)
The reason why the "Flying Spaghetti Monster" is a ridiculous notion, is due to that fact that it is comprised of very specific physical details (and details CREATED and manufactured by man, ie pasta). Obviously, no one could take a statement that the FSM is god seriously, because there is no logical undertones whatsoever. So then, why do most atheists i talk to bring up a similar example (ive also heard "flying space whale") thinking "they've won."

Well first off, i think it's because they've heard a conversation/podcast/read an article between an unintelligent atheist vs an unintelligent religious person, and they thought it was witty, so they are reciting it verbatim, without really thinking it through themselves.

Let's discuss why primitive humanity started believing in the notion of god to begin with. Humans have an incredible ability to "create" new things. Whether is fashioning tools, art, music, or any other amazing thing that humans can do, it is obvious that we have an extreme power to "upgrade" our surrounding environment. Therefore, i suppose that primitive humans, upon analyzing their unique abilities, would naturally transition to a belief that somewhere in the unknown, there must be an entity that has an even greater power to create than man.
As humans draw closer and closer to being able to replicate life ourselves, i find it IMPOSSIBLE to say that, in our.... mind-bogglingly-HUGE universe, there isn't or couldn't be an entity that would be viewed as "god" to humans. Statistically it just makes sense, that there would be something else "better than us" out there.
So, the "Flying Spaghetti Monster," having no base of reference whatsoever, and no logical center, is a cute little trick to try and "get" unintelligent religious people, but it really isn't applicable in any logical discussion. The origins of religion are based on our own observations, what man can do, and therefore, what another entity in our universe must be able to better than humanity. A lot of human based gods don't even have physical descriptions of them in their texts. I know that the Christian god is known to just be "light and energy" and exists out of time and space, but chooses to interact with humanity in ways we understand, like manifesting himself as human.

I also totally understand if people choose to disregard all human religion as being "made up." What i don't think is very wise, is saying "there is no possible way there could be a god in our huge universe" because, not only does the word god have a huge spectrum of definition (meaning what you would call an advanced entity, someone else would call a god, and you'd both be right and arguing the same things), but also because it is very arrogant, and you sort of put yourself into the "I'm so smart, i understand absolutely everything in the universe" category, which... discredits basically anything you say, since that is obviously a lie. I'm sorry but, it takes just as much faith to believe in a god, as it takes to believe there isn't a god. Both are mere guesses based on how you feel.

Perhaps intelligent people tend to be more full of themselves, so they are more willing to claim they know the universe so well, that there isn't a god?
Perhaps IQ does not equal wisdom Wink
Perhaps being agnostic is the only logical conclusion, and if one were to be truly intelligent they would arrive to that understanding Wink haha
Perhaps many atheists have little to no understanding of the differences between BEING RELIGIOUS, and following a god.
Religion is a human construct, with human rules. I know for certain, in the bible, Jesus came to dismantle religion. Yet, humans don't follow what the bible says at ALL. It's pathetic quite frankly. Yet i personally know a few Christians that actually do what the bible says, and they are some of the smartest people i know (i certainly don't know any atheists who are as well informed, wise, or intelligent), who question EVERYTHING.

Overall, as an agnostic, i view atheism as the religion that doesn't want to be called a religion, since its as faith based AS religion Wink

IMO control is one of the hardest decks to play. You have to know the metagame really well, and guess what everyone is playing so you know what to counter and what to let through.

You should start off with an aggro deck most likely BW tokens, humans, or zombies.

    Quote from Blinking Spirit »
Speaking as an atheist, it's my judgment that a Christian who is not evangelical is either heterodox, hypocritical, or hateful. The orthodox Christian belief is that nonbelievers are going to Hell. This is an unimaginably terrible fate, literally the worst thing that is possible to happen to a person. Thus, it is every Christian's most urgent moral duty to keep as many people as they can away from the fire. So if I meet a Christian who doesn't try to convert me, I have to conclude either that they don't believe in Hell, that they do believe in Hell for Christians but have a double standard for nonbelievers due to modern pluralistic values, or that they care so little for me that they don't mind if I burn for all eternity.

Oh, and thread title changed for you.

I am agnostic, but i went to church (not in crazy american churches, so im not a brainwashed idiot haha) until i was 17 or so, and still go with my parents on christmas and other holidays. But let me just say, not all Christians believe in hell. Bold statement i know, but the modern version of hell was invented by Catholicism to control people.
A lot of Christians believe that if you believe in God, then you live on forever, but if you don't, then you just cease to exist (and its what my parents church always leaned toward, but they were very good at never really having a stance on any issue, and would just present all sides that could be supported in the bible. Hell isnt really one of the sides supported though).
here is a good summary of that belief.

Um, as an agnostic, let me just say this straight up.

I am really smart. I've always been in the 93-96th percentiles of basically every test i've taken, yet, even i am not bold enough to say "i know the universe so well, and everything in it, to say that WITHOUT A DOUBT there is no god." That is a bold statement, and you have absolutely no proof. I view you atheists to be as faith driven, and pushy as extremely religious people, except, i find you all more annoying, since for some reason you feel you have the right to demean religious people for their beliefs. It's appalling, and you are the people who are trying to set an example for how humans "should be in this new world". You are literally blinded by your hate of religion to see any good that it has done. Religion has done very VERY good things in our world, as well as some extremely bad. Most foreign aid foundations are religious at their core, and the western world has been founded on Christian principals (the same morals, and principals that you hold people accountable for).
But overall remember, in our life times, secular governments, people and societies have killed far more humans than religious people have. Look at the Chinese government, or the Ugandan government, as prime examples.

I think humanity still needs religion in the world. It needs to know that there is something bigger to live for, something that is no solely their own desires and greed.

Yes, when people get "religious" for the sake of religion, and then get fanatic, that is bad. Yes, when people dont really "believe" in god, but claim they do to manipulate others, that is bad.
But what is worse, is a group of people, who sit on the internet all day, and claim to be so smart that they UNDERSTAND everything in the universe, so much to say "there cannot be a god." I'm sorry, but you guys are just not smart enough to make such claims. I doubt any humans at this stage in our evolution are. You guys are displaying classic primal tendencies to hate others that are different than you are, and that is all. You use examples of the craziest religious people as your proof, yet, for the most part, that is not even close to the reality.

It is arrogant, and hypocritical, and you all should keep your own beliefs to yourself, just like you want your religious counterparts to keep their beliefs to themselves.

    Signed,
    Your friendly neighbourhood agnostic

    imo

    -1 divine offering
-2 Timely Reinforcements (youll almost always have more guys than your opponent)

+3 Surgical extraction/nihil spellbomb (whichever you prefer) otherwise frites will walk all over you

Also you need b/w dual lands. 5 swamps is really gonna mess you up badly. And you need a shimmering grotto or something. Id do like, 2 swamps, 1 shimmering grotto, 1 evolving wilds, and 4 duals

Ive been using it in my SB against UB control.. Resolve it, and you basically win. They cant get rid of it, and you can steal their sphinx, or just get an obliterator/geralfs messenger on it and its GG for them. Nothing they can do.

Its also good against the mirror, since you can stop their messengers from returning.

Establishment doesn't hand out free money to middle class people. Even if you made 1mil, the bank would give you more trouble than it was worth, trust me. No inkmoths right now. My old version had 2, and i think i might readd them for a side wincon with my lashwrithes after sweepers.

you know, ive been getting flooded a lot as well =/ 22 might not be the worst, but i worry that ill miss that turn 4 oblit or lash. Ill have to test it out tomorrow.
Luckily, flooding is good when you topdeck a late game lashwrithe, equip it to your vaultskirge, and swing for 8 (or 16 point swing) haha

in my version of the deck, i have 14 one drop creatures (and then 4 tragic slips on top of that, which ill use to burn off a bird, delver, or stromkirk), so that's rarely happened. and then i always have at least 1-3 two drops in that case so i dont sweat it Wink I might mull if i only had 1 land.

This deck is really good on mulling tbh. Last FNM, i had to mull to 5 because i got 2 hands in a row with NO land. I won the match on a mull to 5, where i went first Wink RAWR! Vault skirge and lashwrithe ftw

Did you just state cemetary reaper was even comparible to diregraf captain? Also, what deck runs both DOJ and Mirrodin crusader? I seriously am questioning if you have ever even played the deck because these statements make no sense to me, or anyone else who plays zombies competitively. The point of vapor snag is to apply pressure on them while making them effective skip turns. It dings their life while you attack. If you have ever played or played against delver you would understand this.

Never even mentioned cemetery reaper. Hes godawful too. Nice straw man argument, but i stated earlier (which you apparently chose not to read) that all lords are not good in monob, since you only have 12 zombies.

I don't buy the diregraf captain arguments. You are all being so situational with him.
    A) he has to be alive when you other zombies die. 9/10 hell just be spot removed, and all your 2/1 and 2/2's will just get chumped to no effect. He doesnt even do a damage if he dies himself!
    B) You have to overextend and play bad zombies, instead of good black cards. I know this is a "zombie" decklist thread, but that doesnt mean you cant run skirsdag highpriest, and vaultskirge which are useful cards on their own.

And humans have DOJ in the sideboard. Youd be an idiot not to, with all the token decks running around. Not to mention, all your creatures come back from DOJ with moorland haunt, or doomed traveler's. For delver, you just kill their delver bro. Much easier than wasting a vapor snag on a 1 drop lol.

And im not saying mono B is the best. If you read my first post, i said there is no point in diluting your deck to blue for ONLY vapor snag, image, and the captain. Those are all cards that either shouldnt be played, or have better counterparts allowing you to run mono B with lashwrithe. If you are running blue for COUNTERSPELLS, now thats a whole different story. Thats a completely different type of match, and i can totally understand why youd consider running blue for those.

But for image and a lord, that if topdecked lategame on an empty board, literally does nothing? I dont think so. Give me a lashwrithe over a diregraf anyday. That way, every single card in my deck is a threat that has to be dealt with.
