Success! posting rolls on here will go through the same sequence as the PMs, but won't "reset" with each comment.
EDIT=> Never mind it just reverted on me. Back to the drawing board. -
Jan 10, 2012Oculus posted a message on Best Pulls at a Draft or EventProbably the M11 prerelease. I got crazy lucky at the constructed - Inferno Titan, Sun Titan, Frost Titan, foil Primeval Titan together with Leyline of the Void, Chandra Nalaar and Protean Hydra. Craziest set of boosters ever.Posted in: KIllerKongo Blog

The wording should probably be cleaned up to only cast cards exiled with Leina though.
Sorcery {U}
Kicker 2R
Thunderstroke deals 4 damage to target creature or player. If Thunderstroke was kicked, add RRRRR to your mana pool.
IIW: Symmetrical effects as a drawback
Magus of the Melee 3R
Creature - Human Wizard {R}
All creatures attack each turn if able.
All creatures block each turn if able.
4/4
IIW: Symmetrical effects as a drawback
I suppose that's true - I'm too used to thinking of Echo as an advantage (the graveyard is a good place to interact with things). I take your point of having to pay twice as much to get the body though.
Related: how do people feel about this version compared to a.) Vessel of Unlife and b.) other recent reanimation spells?
Grave Guidance 3BB
Sorcery {U}
Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. Put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield.
I suppose it's not, no. Maybe a simpler comparison would be fairer:
Rough Waters 1UU
Enchantment {U}
3, Return Rough Waters to its owner's hand: Return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand.
"Bouncing lands is for jerks."
- Berlung, Geralian sailor
Heart 5W
Sorcery {U}
Return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield. You gain life equal to its toughness.
===========================
===========================
Soul 6W
Sorcery {U}
Exile target creature. Put a number of 1/1 white Spirit creature tokens onto the battlefield equal to its power.
IIW: Vanishing Acts
I gauged Mass Banishment to be weaker than Wrath of God, and originally had it at 1WW. Being repeatable, getting rid of indestructible creatures, and permanently wiping tokens is probably enough of a justification to leave it at the same cost though.
Wall of Snares is worse than Capsize in several regards: It can only target creatures, has to be cast at sorcery-speed without the option of casting it as a cheap one-off spell, and can be removed a lot easier. To counteract this, I gave it the ability to bounce multiple creatures (I also like the flavor of a whole bunch of things getting snared at once). Original cost was 3U/2U, but I like that playing and bouncing it costs the same as buying back Capsize.
Azusa, Lost but Seeking is quite a powerhouse on her own. I wanted to see what people thought of a toned-down common version of her. Another way to think of Disciple of Azusa is as a slightly larger Sakura-Tribe Scout with haste.
Vessel of Unlife looks insane at first, but in ultimately it's just a worse Karmic Guide (bar color[?] and an arguably better creature type). The best way to push it was to drop it a rarity, although it is stepping on Zombify's toes a little.
Shard Servitor is a really bad Shock in a lot of cases, but is meant to provide utility. In situations where an opponent can't block or kill it, it's amazing. Otherwise it either provides an extra body for the turn or some direct damage.
Creature - Elemental {U}
Haste
At the beginning of your upkeep, sacrifice Shard Servitor. If you do, it deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
2/2
Wall of Snares 2U
Creature - Wall {U}
2U: Return Wall of Snares and another target creature to their owners' hands.
0/4
Mass Banishment 3W
Enchantment {R}
When Mass Banishment enters the battlefield, exile all creatures until Mass Banishment leaves the battlefield.
Vessel of Unlife 3BB
Creature - Zombie {U}
When Vessel of Unlife enters the battlefield, return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
2/2
Disciple of Azusa 2G
Creature - Human Monk {C}
You may play an additional land on each of your turns.
2/2
Crowd Control was overcosted to err on the side of caution - it could probably cost less, but it's not like it's unusable at 6 (and I seriously doubt it would make it into a competitive format at any reasonable cost). 3WW is the lowest I'd go with it - hosing creatures is likely more powerful than artifacts, and it also beats out Feroz's Ban in many cases.
Enchantment {R}
1R: The next time you flip a coin, you choose the outcome of that flip.
Mirror Nemesis 1UU
Creature - Shapeshifter {R}
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, you may have Mirror Nemesis become a copy of that creature. If you do, it gains this ability.
2/2
Crowd Control 5W
Enchantment {R}
Creature spells cost 1 more to cast for each creature its controller controls.
Platinum Phylactery 3
Artifact {M}
You can't lose the game and opponents can't win the game.
When Platinum Phylactery leaves the battlefield, you lose the game.
IIW: Phylacteries and/or Liches.
Well it has been printed at 2UU before. Besides, there's more than one way to get rid of your own creatures. The cost is fine.
Enchantment {R}
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay X and sacrifice a creature. If you do, search your library for a creature card with converted mana cost X, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle your library.
IIW: Dwarf tribal
