Success! posting rolls on here will go through the same sequence as the PMs, but won't "reset" with each comment.
EDIT=> Never mind it just reverted on me. Back to the drawing board. -
Jan 10, 2012Oculus posted a message on Best Pulls at a Draft or EventProbably the M11 prerelease. I got crazy lucky at the constructed - Inferno Titan, Sun Titan, Frost Titan, foil Primeval Titan together with Leyline of the Void, Chandra Nalaar and Protean Hydra. Craziest set of boosters ever.Posted in: KIllerKongo Blog

Creature - Shapeshifter {R}
When Stalker of Aphellus enters the battlefield, name a card.
Whenever a creature with the chosen name leaves the battlefield, you may have Stalker of Aphellus become a copy of that creature.
2/2
IIW: Hibernation.
(NB: While not specifically built for Multiplayer, there are definitely multiplayer aspects to it. It would probably work better as a 1v1 deck but it's funnier this way.)
Motivation
This deck was built as a proof of concept for a different kind of aggro deck - throwing pump spells at your opponent until they die. As much as that sounds like a bad idea, it's a riot to run. And surprisingly, it works very well. Radha's extra mana leads to very explosive turns dropping very early on, leaving your opponent scrambling to put up a defense (which invariably gets overrun in the follow-up turns).
Building this deck is easy - look through your box of spares for red and green pump spells, throw in some creatures that benefit from them (Kiln Fiend and Prowess/Heroic dudes are good), and pepper in some contingency plans. Fine-tuning comes later - which is where I'm currently at. Suggestions are appreciated.

Key Cards
Bad Cards
These are cards that need to get cut, but I haven't yet found a suitable replacement for.
Rubblehulk, Skargg Goliath - The heaviest hitters in the deck, but also the clumsiest. They're okay if the game drags on forever, but really it shouldn't get to this. Looking for creatures that hit just as hard without costing more than 4. Troll Ascetic and Thrun, the Last Troll would both be nice choices. Mistcutter Hydra was also a consideration (Putrefax would be funny but I'd feel bad running infect).
Brutalizer Exarch - amazing card, awful cost. He's borderline right now, but I don't know what would take his place.
Might of Oaks - The cost doesn't really justify the power. Might end up getting cut for Stonewood Invocation.
Street Spasm - Originally meant to be a token sweeper to synergize with Radha's extra mana. While not awful per se, it is a turn I'm investing in thinning down blockers without doing much actual damage.
Prowler's Helm - This wants to be Basilisk Collar.
Ring of Kalonia, Ring of Valkas - Something cheap that gives trample/haste and incremental pump. I can't help but feel there's much better options, although none spring to mind.
Make a Wish - I don't even know. There's a lot of alternatives here, although Past in Flames would be my ideal one.
Surreal Memoir - On the fence about this. It's durdly, but pumps twice for a total of two heroic triggers (or four Guttersnipe/Kiln Fiend/Young Pyromancer triggers).
Shiv's Embrace - Decent, but again, it costs 4. The flying is relevant in many, but not all matches, and the firebreathing is a nice sink of Radha's attack mana. Dragon Mantle was one consideration; Canopy Cover was another.
Lands - Just generally lacking. Like everything else here, mana base is just scraps I had lying around. Stomping Grounds, Khalni Garden and Kessig Wolf Run should all be in there.
Things to remember
Feedback is appreciated - I haven't yet gotten any cards for this, but I'm enjoying the theme enough that I might go and improve on it. And if you do try it out, tell me how it goes and if you find any cool interactions. Let's go claim some scalps!
- T2: Radha.
- T3 is the setup turn (barring a miracle or really good/really bad hand) - examples of setup cards are Wild Defiance, Kiln Fiend, Hunted Troll, Rancor, equipping Infiltration Lens.
- T4 is the swing. With six mana available and 3-5 pumps in hand, you'll be expecting upward of 20 damage. Example: Cast Assault Strobe on Kiln Fiend. Radha, Heir to Keld and Kiln Fiend swing. Cast Violent Outburst and Predatory Strike; Violent Outburst is almost guaranteed to hit a pump spell, all of which add at least 3 power (let's say it hits Giant Growth). Radha is swinging for 3, Kiln Fiend for 38. Block or die.
I like the part where I look at the top card, then decide to stack ten copies of the third ability.
No wait that's stupid. Still funny with Words of War and friends.
Creature - Human Soldier {R}
Exalted
Other creatures you control with exalted get +2/+2.
4/4
IIW: What a twist!
Fair enough, I suppose the challenge was just intended a bit more literally. FWIW I didn't count it against you.
The difference between Incarnations and Elementals...with very few exceptions, Elementals embody something concrete (such as bogs, Desecration or even Time), whereas Incarnations are embodiments of more abstract concepts (Vigor, Wonder, Filth(???)). You can see Incarnations as a subset of elementals in that way - the Lorwyn incarnations certainly seem to suggest that.
ManyCookies: Doesn't really fit the challenge, but the flavor of this is the best thing. Good card. Any reason it's not an Incarnation?
Rudyard: This is "bad" the same way Nettle Sentinel is "bad". Given that's it in blue, it could comfortably exist at 5. 4 is pushing it.
avatarz: Cute, reminds me of Solarion. It's worse than it looks at first but I'd play it.
Willows: There's nothing here that's not to love. 10/10.
scarbo: I'm not familiar with Pokemon so this is mostly clunk to me. the second line is pretty cool though.
Am Shegar: Greedy Dragon is pretty cool, although 2R is more appropriate. Peaceful Baloth is a no-go - just sac a token and you're off.
Winner: willows.

Casual MastersConspiracy. Opened every legendary creature in the set - torn between EDHing Marchesa, Grenzo, and Selvala. Any ideas on what might be funny?Update: Marchesa is a funny commander. Casting Slave of Bolas on a Bearer of the Heavens is the best kind of rude.

IIW: What the blind men see.
If Dumb Ass is any precedent, it's probably "You choose whether creatures with music counters on them attack or block and how they attack or block".
Also, Ice Age strikes again.
