Getting this polished turd at a FNM would be almost as nice a surprise as buying a pack of beta and pulling one of the laces.

So your sister told you that your fashion sense is terrible and you came onto a MTG Forum for advice?

Either its the weed, or this is really funny.

But if you're a dude (idk, read first post, can't tell really) then just go with jeans and a t-shirt. Hoodies are fine too. Idk, guys can't go wrong unless they were homeschooled.

;)Yeah exactly what I was thinking;)
The last time I went to an FNM I played against a guy who had the remnants of his last 5 meals spread across the front of his shirt. Not saying there are no fashionable magic players out there, but..........
I am certainly not the most fashionably orientated guy, but I have always pulled it off by enlisting help when shopping for clothes, my chick picks out most my stuff. Get a female friend or your sister to go shopping with you, they love that shyt.

    BR Koth Control

I have had a blast playing with this lately. It was a spur of the moment build the day of a tournament, I even forgot the sideboard at home when I went, but it ended up doing very well. This deck makes for some good games, it is fun to play and fun to play against. I have begun working on it in earnest since then and here is what I have so far.
The idea is to use bombs to control the early and mid game, targeted discard to scout and pick off threats, and to play into card advantage in the form of multiple-layered threats in the late game. Koth is key in this deck simply because of the synergy he has with what this deck is wanting to do.

    Card Choices-

    The Bombs-
This deck plays a lot of bombs. It is not the kind of deck where you want to hoard a sweeper in your hand. Because there should be another one waiting to play out behind it. Opponents may play around your bomb by holding on to creatures. Sometimes setting them up to play creatures by sweeping the board seemingly early is a sound strategy, This deck primarily targets aggressive decks in this way and the bombs are its bread and butter.

Pyroclasm and Slagstorm- aggressive decks are very popular where I play, they are cheaper to build in general and casual players tend to like them, and right now there are several very good variations. I see Boros, Vampires, Elves, Quest and Kuldotha Red all the time. These 2 cards provide amazing card advantage and answers. I run three of each.

Ratchet Bomb- This is an answer to whatever when used correctly. Against a control deck when played early I try and get it to four if it sticks to hit Jace. I think it is good to have a target or two in mind when casting this, whether they are in play or not. Against many decks it has obvious play as a sweeper, and against certain decks it is a game-breaking play.

Black Suns's Zenith- Sweeps the Board. Shuffles back in.

    Targeted Discard-
Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek- These cards are great early plays. I love nabbing a squadron hawk before it hits play. But I also love looking at a hand full of meta cards that really do not do any good against me and picking out the threat. IOK is the better early play against some opponents but duress is an answer to some cards that give this deck headaches, like a resolved gideon. Mid and late game they help to scout out your opponent's options before making a key play or sweeping.

    The Threats-

Koth of the Hammer- sweep the board, swing for damage. This guy is not sitting alone in a dark room making farting noises with his mouth. He is a great clock that functions in this deck along the lines of Samual L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction. The first ability is the most relevant, but his ultimate has helped from time to time.

Wurmcoil Engine- Its big, its scary, its kids come looking for it.

Hoarding Dragon- I know, I know. This card may not seem that great, but....it works here. Keep in mind, your opponent will be sitting there holding targeted removal that has not been used early or mid game waiting for you to play something big. Grab a Wurmcoil or Bonehoard and let the 4/4 flyer sit on it.

Bonehoard- This is another very key piece in the deck. It only gets bigger It brings in a body and then keeps doing its job. The sweepers ensure a robust graveyard.

Lavaclaw Reaches- This card can function as a finisher at best and is a dual land at worst. Sounds like a win-win.

    Mentionables-

Manic Vandal- He always has something to break. Sword of Feast and Famine, artifact creatures, and then the other things that pop up like mimic vats and Everflowing Chalices on Tezzeroids. Against some decks you would want to side him out, like Valakut, but for the most part he does his job. One quick point in his favor: He has a bigger body then Stoneforge Mystic and Negates her grab.

Lightning Bolt / Go for the Throat/ Doom Blade- Instant speed removal is needed, as well as answers for cards like the Titans

Sarkhan the Mad- have not got to playtesting with him yet. But I want to get around to it. I think he could bring in some synergy.

Hey guys, been a while since I have stopped in to check out the thread. Went through the last dozen pages or so. Great stuff too, there is a lot of cards being altered with defined signiture styles. Glad to see some new people are getting in on it. Klug, the amount of cards you produce is amazing, very clean work. And it is always great seeing your work Demonium, top notch. Lots of good stuff from everyone.

Too bad. Oh well, wotc does not just make these things for players that go to forums and read about product lists like us;)
I just wonder who they were targeting with this.....product.
I do like the foil kotr, one of my favorite cards, but I am still more a fan of the original. When it comes to Wayne Reynolds I like the Mad Auntie style cards.
I also think its cool there is some alternate art for seething song.

Because my list is still evolving. My local meta is extremely biased to aggro. I honestly do not think I could add very much to what this thread has been saying since it began other then to recommend trying Signal Pest. I have been watching since then and appreciate the caliber of players this deck has attracted. But, I will post it when it is where I want it. It may give ideas to players trying the deck with a similar meta to mine.

Aether Vial actually. The Vials were just not up to speed against fast decks like goblins or Zoo. This weekend was my first chance to play the deck with Signal Pest, I took first! A lot of my opponents knew the deck and did not expect the speed bonus the pest adds. Whats better then second turn Cloud, cloud, standstill? When its preceeded by Pest. Had that roll out twice in the tourney. Second turn Mistblade was nice too, coming in handy against lackeys at one point. Of course it needs more playtesting, but at this point I am 100% behind a Pest version.

So, I have been running this deck for a while now and it is a blast!
I prefer the aggro/excaliber version. I have been playtesting with Signal Pest in this deck and it seems like a really good piece. It can give you a power bonus that is an edge in close games, doubling the power of fliers. Ninjitsu works great with it after battle-cry goes on the stack, and then it can be cheaply replayed. All in all I really favor it as a one drop.

An Opinion- Every aggro or mid-range infect deck that I have seen (and built) would be at best a meta choice to make based off of a specific fnm. Not an fnm with control type dominatant decks, or kuldotha red, boros, quest or caw-go. So, play it if you have a very sub-par meta.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really want infect to work. I built Mono-G and GB infect decks and really enjoyed the game play but still agree with the comments made by detractors of those decks on preceeding pages. I typically play UB and collect decks that are based on those colors (growTog, fairies, cruel control, today's various control decks.) And last FNM I was playing with my newest variant, a UB Tezzeret control build. I had not even play-tested the deck, I just wanted to see how it would roll out. 6 out of 7 decks in my area are speed aggro, I put in Ink-Moth Nexus as a blocker should the need arise and to work with Tezz if the situation arose. It did, and quite often, it was the most secure victory condition of the night and worked quite well after board wiping. I went 3-1 against Quest, Valukut, UW Quest, Kuldotha Red with my loss being to Kuldotha Red. I am anxious to try a slight change up similar to a few successful UB builds lately and run Plauge Myr and Phyrexian Crusader as well, an investment in threats in a deck that still wants to have plenty of answers.

Yes, this new set is awesome for UB players. I am very happy with it:)

My two cents- I have been playing UB in fnm since Cruel Ultimatum was printed and have only been happier with it as it dropped the red and then began to become an incredibly tough deck. I was quite happy when it knocked UW of its throne at rotation, even though in my area all the other control players go UW still. I have been bored with it since then though. My UB builds are basically a binder of cards, the popular-Grave Titan finisher, Percy builds, Trinket Package, etc. But they all felt the same when playing through and I like a little diversity in a deck package that encompasses two colors.
I also had been working on a few proliferate designs, so when I saw several of the new cards like Tezz and Nexus I first thought proliferate. But the new set has even more to offer in my opinion. There have been a lot of articles on many new takes at UB, and many of them seem like competative decks. I like the idea of a Tezzeret build, proliferate or poison. I also like the Shape Anew combo with a single Blightsteel Colossus (feeding Shape Anew a Ink-Moth Nexus or singleton Everflowing Chalice snagged by Trinket Mage) This seems like an awesome build, unless your opponent has an answer and I suppose that would give the deck an Achille's heel, but still seems a fun way to go. I also think Abyssal Persecutor (I have always favored Percy as a personal preference) can now shine more as a finisher with Go for the Throat being the missing synergy. Consecrated Sphinx.....wow! I did not even realize how great this card is against control if you stick it until I read this thread.
I guess I need to go order some cards and do some playtesting. I have only gotten a fat pack so far- but I pulled a Tezz, Consecrated Sphinx, 2 Go for the throats, and a Black Sun's Zenith. a good start:o!

I really fail to see how what I wrote contained any hidden sales talk, maybe it was not read through thoroughly. And if my comments seemed to flame anyone in particular then that was not my intention. I was commenting on the practice itself.
All in all this thread has grown much to distasteful to me, there are gems here to be sure, but the drama just goes on and on....and rather then being stifled it seems to be encouraged....ergo this.
I am sure at least some of this will be snipped, please delete my account while you are at it.

I agree with Masume, any digital "help" on an alter is just misrepresenting to the buyer and not at all the point of this thread, and those cards are rather blatant. The last month has seen quite a few travesties. Come on guys! If it is not done with paint guided by your hand then it does not belong here, put your little photoshop training wheels on and ride on over to the digital thread.

I have a big chunk of cards done that I have not got around to posting, sorry Lowpaan and Urbanlegend, etc. But I will have them up soon, my scanner is such a pile, the lid fell off last time I used it. I started a new job, one that pays much better then I am used to making but takes up a lot of time. So, that combined with my frustrations with dealing with some people here have led me to the choice to get out of altered art. As far as commissions and auctions go. Just thought I would get that explaination out there for the people that have e-mailed, e-bay messaged and pm'd me.

Sorry about the influx of negativity, there really are many amazing things going on here, don't think I do not believe that! While the super-hero fad is not really my cup of tea, they are very well done, especially Klugs. And Sandreline has really been on a roll lately, very very talented stuff.

    Don't flame.

    The Boneyard

This is a deck I have been tuning and working on as a side project for quite a while. The problem with it was a lack of playable cards in the right slots, and then along came the Mirrodin Besieged previews....so I suggest being familiar with the new cards in the MBS spoiler.

The idea behind the deck is cards that all have synergy with each other so that the deck equates to several mini-combos. Some of which grow into bigger more complex combos.

The decks has several finishers, but its main goal is to eat away at your opponent's life total while making the game a heavy attrition war. Here are a few of the decks combos and key cards.

Jinxed Idol: This .23 cent gem gives your opponent a hard choice and control players a headache. Bloodghast and Sword of Mind and Body obviously fits in with the idol well, and makes it hard for your opponent to stick it back on you. Perilous Myr also works well with the idol. If your opponent's have no creatures in play Phyrexian Revoker naming Jinxed Idol is also nasty. And the Idol is a great sac outlet for Abyssal Persecutor. But mostly the Idol is a great card in its play value, many players will spend time looking for an answer to the Idol or trying to play the game of "here you go!"

Bloodchief Ascension: Jinxed Idol lets this ramp up quite fast. The life gain is very good in a race. Many of this decks creatures hit for 2 and start hitting early. So, this is a reliable card here.
When the ascension has its three counters a hit with an equiped Sword of Mind and Body is fun. Of course simply blasting a land with tech edge or wiping out a creature is a much better shift in tempo then it would normally be as well. And taking down a board of creatures with Black Sun's Zenith can be lethal to an opponent or at least give you a huge advantage.

Abyssal Persecutor: I have found in my region that Percy is a legit threat, against opponent's that can remove him from play, this is many times their objective. Of course, when it is not his game text is a problem. But alongside Jinxed Idol, MBS gives us a new card: Go for the throat. So, with 8 pieces of removal I am very comfortable playing Percy. He is a great target for equipment and can end the game very quickly.

Bonehoard: This deck wants to kill a lot of creatures quickly, and also wants to swing with Sword of Mind and Body, so this card makes a great crusher. The token is nice, making this a Mortivore that can equip to your bloodghasts after a board wipe. Or equiped to Ink-Moth Nexus for alternate poison wins.

Sword of Mind and Body: If you want to fight an attrition war this is the sword. The wolf token is great for the Jinxed Idol side of the deck, the Mill is great for the Bonehoard and Ascension side.

Ink-Moth Nexus: So what if it is not an infect deck? This land is great, a good blocker, a sac outlet to jinxed idol, and an alternate win conditon when equiped (which only requires 3 other lands.)
After a board wipe the Nexus can swing with a Bonehoard for many poison counters, or a Sword which allows you to make wolves, from an artifact and land. Nice.

Black Sun's Zenith: This card is amazing. It slays any decks that could compete in a jinxed idol war, and it does not really slow the deck down at all, making it a one sided re-shuffled wrath. And late late game it can even bring down your Persecutor.

Here is the list that I have come up with so far:

    Creatures(16)
    Abyssal Persecutor x3
    Bloodghast x4
    Perilous Myr x4
    Phyrexian Revoker x4
    Reassembling Skeleton

    Non-Creature (11)
    Black Sun's Zenith x3
    Go for the Throat x4
    Bloodchief Ascension x4

    Artifact (9)
    Bonehoard x3
Sword of Mind and Body x2
    Jinxed Idol x4

    Lands (24)
    Ink Moth Nexus x4
    Tectonic Edge x4
    Swamp x16

Another direction that this deck could take would be a splash for green for the new Glissa the traitor, who has obvious synergy with everything this deck wants to do, however without another playset of BG lands I do not see it as a feasible option at the time.

I would appreciate if anyone interested took an oppurtunity to explore this decks potential and contribute to its development.
