So Currently, land is at 24, with 4 of them entering play tapped. Or, 20 usable when played. Adding another forest and mountain will bring it up to 26 total, 22 usable when played. I'll want to find 2 more cards to remove. So, my choices are perhaps creatures or 2 of the tapped lands, reducing my cycle ability. I'll go with the tapped lands and remove one of each for now.
With Manalith and Beneath the Sands, not really sure what you mean by
so, with 2 of each in this deck, or maybe 3/1 sands to manalith? With 3/1, that brings my spells up to 15 cards, including the Manalith. With 24 land, thats 39 cards, leaving 21 for creatures, going 3/1.
Having only 2x Tenacious Hunter at a cost of 4 mana, that is a mid-level cost. Getting these in without screwing up my mana curve seems challenging. Just by cost alone, this means that candidates for replacement are Sand Strangler and Oasis Ritualist, or one of the four Puncturing Blow. I don't mind dropping the Strangler, but not O.R. or P.B.. I'm thinking I drop one of the fatties. Prefering 'Menace' over 'Trample', I'll lose a Hippo with the Strangler to get 2x T.H. in the deck.

I'm going to run this version against some friends decks and see how it plays.
Thanks a ton for the many suggestions. I learned alot from this thread. And, any further comments are of course appreciated.
Edit: replaced Manalith with Beneath the Sands.
Edit: 61 cards. Dropped 1 Granitic Titan to get to 60.
So, clearly, my deck tech is outdated...
land/creatures/other:
Current split: 24/19/20
Target split: about 24/24/12
Agree on the life gain as a waste in of itself in the deck. With that in mind, 2x Life Goes On is relegated to the sideboard for now.
Creatures:
Starting with 6 early creatures, this leaves 18 for the mids and the fatties.
Tenacious Hunter may be out of place as there is no way this deck can get a -1/-1 counter in play for vigilance and deathtouch, and not sure I want to rely on my opponent helping me in that regard. Seems it would pair nicely with Blur of Blades.
Hope Tender is a nice card. Wish I had 4, but 1 will have to do.
Land/Mana:
Based on your mana observations, including 2x Manalith looks like a good move. This maintains my mana base at 24 cards but improves flexibility. Liking that. The balance between R/G mana I will tweak based on feedback from playing the deck.
Spells: Added 1 Overcome.

Slipping back into the game after long layoff. Trying my hand (with some help) on some exclusive HOD decks to ease myself back in.
This deck is not complete, but curious on thoughts about the direction. At the moment it needs a useful Sideboard and some trimming/tuning. I'm restricted to HOD and my current card base of about 400+ cards from a box of boosters, so know that going in.
TIA

What I'm trying to avoid is having to purchase cards from previous sets to make decks playable. I think I can do that.
Thanks again.
So, I'm wondering where do I go on MTGSalvation to see some deck lists I can lift that I can make with my current collection of HOU-only cards, modify, rinse and repeat?
Point me in the right direction, please!
Regards

Sorry.
If my opponent has an Island in play and I tap Boss Hog and target said Island, can he tap the Island for 1 Blue Mana before it becomes a Swamp in response?
Re: Rotation - ok, thanks. I built it on MTGO for ease of use, and of course, that place is behind in rotation by a couple of weeks. I'll adjust the deck to reflect that tonight.
Any Suggestions welcome.
TIA

I think the mana curve looks good for what the deck tries to do. I've playtested it a little and ran into trouble against a Scrye/Permission deck and could not get off the killing blow. Help appreciated.
Keep in mind the $$ for the cards. Not a big spender at all.
10/07/10 - EDIT: Replace Firebreathing in Sideboard with Shiv's Embrace;
T2 Rotating out: Raging Goblin, Firebreathing, Panic Attack, Lightning Elemental
10/07/10 - EDIT: Added 4 Goblin Bushwhacker; pushed 4 Firebreathing to sideboard.
10/06/10 - PLAY - MTGO: 0-1 vs. Scrye/Permission Deck. Had 2 lava axes countered when opp. life at 7...
Already a goblin thread.
For clarity then, if I have an Arcbound Hybrid w/2 +1/+1 counters on it and an Arcbound Lancer w/4 +1/+1 counters on it, and I am able to put enough -1/-1 counters on the Arcbound Hybrid as one SBA to reduce it's Toughness to zero, it goes to the graveyard but since it's a SBA that is simultaneous with the one that puts the creature in the graveyard, the 2 +1/+1 counters on the Arcbound Hybrid can transfer to the Arcbound Lancer?
Have I got that right?
Just so I understand the stack in this example correctly:
The Stack, top to bottom:
Inexorable Tide: "cast a spell" trigger: proliferate.
Casting of Contagion Engine
Now the Stack Empty
Then:
Contagion Engine enters the battlefield, put a -1/-1 counter on each creature target player controls. This effect goes on the stack.
