I get the impression the characters are monocoloured WUBRG legends (in order, from right to left). Most likely all new characters that can also serve as EDH generals, but definitely not the last we'll see of any of them.
This block's mythic unbalance makes my OCD so sad.
For those not keeping track, W and B have one more mythic than the rest so far. Green, UR, RW, and BG are all short one, and I think there's only one slot left for them.
One of the few cards that's going to skip Standard and go right to Modern. UR is a staple Modern color combo.
UR isn't a colour that can afford to tap out for a 5CMC card that doesn't do anything until you untap with it.
Maybe it'll work in some kind of Top Control shell with that Dakra Mystic, Think Twice, Thought Scour, Electrolyze, or whatever other instant-speed draw you can think of. I really want to make it happen, but it'd barely work at 4 CMC, let alone 5.
Edit: "On each of your turns". Damn it. Was that really necessary?
Thanks for the tips so far--I ordered stuff from within the last few years so hopefully they won't be too bad. And there's nothing to do now but hope for the best with customs.
The sales solicitation sheet says there are 60 new cards, but the original announcement article says there are 65. I wonder if something happened? Are the five basic-land-related somehow? Are they not new anymore as of Theros block?
First and foremost, let's avoid discussion of the character behind the store, and focus on the store itself.
Has anyone ordered from Saito before? If so, I just had a few questions--namely, what condition your cards arrived in and whether or not you were hit with customs fees (along with the approximate value of your order). He only seems to have two conditions on his site (NM-EX+ and EX-PLD, which could mean anything), so should I expect something closer to an SP or an HP?
In the FAQ, he is also very adamant about declaring the full and real value of the shipment on the customs declaration form to avoid trouble. With this in mind, how much, if anything, should I expect to pay in customs? Some of his prices are quite good, but it'd be a waste of all those savings if I have to pay a bunch of customs fees. If it matters, I'm in Ontario, Canada. I'd really like to avoid paying HST, but from my history of online ordering the border police seem very hit-and-miss- on when to charge me.
The commenters don't seem to be aware that Spellskite can redirect the Raveger's modular ability--they keep saying that the counters will get put on the Ornithopter when it dies. =\
Edit: never mind, they just caught it. Also nath'd x2
I don't quite understand why Dickmann didn't choose to blow up Inkmoth instead of the Plating. He has the green mana to flash back Ancient Grudge, and wouldn't it be preferable to starve your opponent of mana (not to mention a potential attacker) whenever possible?
Although it's possible he was saving it to blow up noncreature artifacts as well--but regardless, I'd rather kill the creature and land.
This is my first time seeing RUG Twin in action, but it's definitely one of those decks that I thought shouldn't work, but did. I don't think I'd have attacked with the Ooze early on, but it worked out perfectly for him.
Really highlights the skill gap between the pros and commonfolk like myself.
Kiora's ability gets more relevant with Landfall. Karametra's, as well, for whatever that's worth.
We now have ramp spells at 3 and 4, one ramp creature at 1, three at 2, and 1 at 5 after this set. Considering Voyaging Satyr's text, I'm really liking this theory the more thought I put into it.
Might as well call Rampant Growth in M15 back now too.
Courser is terribly written. By the wording you should be able to just keep playing lands, it says: You may play the top card of your library if it's a land card...
It's literally giving you the ability to play the card. I mean obviously it's overpowered without the rule, but they needed to include the rule on the card.
I don't think it's necessary. Melek doesn't let you get around timing restrictions--the only rule it breaks is being able to play spells from your library in addition to from your hand. It doesn't mean you can play sorceries at instant speed. Likewise, the timing restrictions on Courser of Kruphix don't mean you can play more than one a turn. Now, it'd be a different story if it said "you may put the top card of your library into play"...
I'm going to guess that this is the next-block-hint card, a la Stoneforge Mystic hinting that Equipment would become relevant in the next block. People have been asking for the return of landfall and full-art lands too.
I can't believe how many people are taking him seriously.
I thought it was a pretty obvious joke...at least, I hope it is.
On-topic: I can see myself mid-picking this. Hopefully green will be able to get to 3GG before turn 5, meaning your opponent either has to deal with a slightly undercosted fatty or give up a land and deal with a bigger, deathtouch-less Acidic Slime.
I may be wrong, but I didn't think their were foreign languages for Beta, isn't it more likely that they are FBB Revised?
EDIT: Nath'd, should have posted it but I wanted to double check if I was right...lol
I don't think any more needs to be said on the topic (yes, they're FBB, as explained above), but you didn't do anything wrong.
It's a little sad (and representative of the mindset of the average Internet user) that you put yourself down for prioritizing the validity of your advice over being the first to respond.
I'm a little annoyed at the bit being on Rapid Hybridization though. This was a good opportunity to print an "improved" version of Pongify with their new philosophy, but WotC decided to leave it in. I'm trying hard not to sound like "blue gets everything good" but it's not like Incinerate was too powerful for Standard.

Pretty excited to see this card in Standard though, looks like it'll enable a bunch of different strategies (and make Burn a little better).

Yes, they are.
Lightning Strike
Searing Spear
Every other piece of removal in the format outside the three you mentioned.
