If they are holding mana up to cast Bolt for 4 and you aren't holding mana up to counter their spells, then you have gained yourself some serious tempo advantage. And if they aren't playing anything so they can bolt your Mutavault you become free to start attacking, if they try to remove it when you attack, then you polystaff in response.
if they try to remove it when you attack, then you polystaff in response.
in this case.. you actually cant. both cards are sorcery speed and cannot respond to bolt/removal spells.
Wow. people hates kamigawa so much... unaware of the importance of this plane to MTG? this is where Nicol Bolas is going. the MAIN villain of mtg as of the moment. it is innevitable that Bolas will destroy this plane because if the knowledge deep in the towers of Oboro that Bolas might be interested of.
I saw my friend play this general, to my understanding. derevi is a stand alone general, better than geist 100 times. this general abuses sac effects. blasting station infinitio! Chumpblock sac burn tap/untap at the same time. that is just insane.
One turn back is a BILLION opportunity unless you have some insane tech that can draw half of the deck and look for answers. or a Demonic tutor in which... modern does actually lack of.
actually the problem with countering a spellskite is when a defense grid is on the board and you lack mana to counter it.
i think this is actually a hint that we will someday return to kamigawa Plane (hello Tamiyo and the other ninja reprinted in PLANE chase). and also might be a hint that some cards on the reserved list will be taken out. like the tabernacle and (wishfully thinking) ancestral recall.
rest asured. bees willl soon be a creature type. LOL
and another planar chaos might be a huge possibility with all those conspiracies created by the Bolas faction travelling to Zendikar and Innistrad... getting stuffs like the eye of ugin unleashing the eldrazi's and while on the other hand... one of the original planeswalker who locked the eldrazi's is on Innistrad plane.
You don't need your lands to be creatures or your creature tokens to be in play on your opponents turns, you need them on your turn when you can polymorph them. They may play their control on their turn but it wont save them on their turn.
how will you counter spellskite? this is game 2 of a match that we are talking about. spellskite RUINS the deck. you need to either remive it at EOT or wait 5-6 turns before going off which is slow.
The Elder Dragon on Zendikar
At some point, Nicol Bolas took notice of the volatile nature of Zendikar. He investigated the Eye of Ugin and left after studying it. Long afterwards, Bolas sent Vol to guard the Eye, to make sure nothing disturbed it.
Sarkhan was, however, misled. Bolas had sought out and defeated Ugin, extracting a great deal of information about the Eldrazi and the lock that kept them contained. Knowing of the titans and what it would take to unleash them, Bolas sent Sarkhan to the Eye and manipulated the pyromancer Chandra Nalaar into arriving at the same time. Unfortunately, that only solved 2/3rds of the problem, and so Bolas gambled that Jace would show up if prodded in that direction. The ends to his manipulations were clear, the release of the Eldrazi, but the purpose remains shrouded in mystery.
i dont htink its a return.... its a new "planar Chaos"... and the block is set to unleash the eldrazi's to destroy the multiverse by some "evil" guy like ashiok and nicol bolas... so the blocks title is "Eldrazi Unleash"....
well. you have a point. however, IMO, i would still choose faithless looting over the izzet charm. why?
Izzet Charm, has many options to choose when you cast it... which may be a down fall when you need CA and Board wipe at the same time. faithless looting actually can do both as it draw's you cards for 1 mana having a chance to draw a board wipe in the process. the only advantage i see between the 2 is, izzet charm is instant speed.
what happens if you have both Library of leng and Psychic Vortex in play. vortex says discard your hand at EOT. and library of says, you may put that card on top... will you be able to put your entire hand on top of the library in any order?
can we shorten the number of rounds as opposed to playing 7 rounds when you get a 60+ turn out? just wondering, anyways great event, My Radha enjoyed the matches (except the Loss on 2nd Wanderer Match ...)
R1 - GAAIV w 2-1
R2 - GAAIV w 2-0
R3 - Derevi L 1-2
R4 - Wanderer w 2-0
R5 - Doran L 1-2
R6 - Wanderer L 0-2
R7 - Zur - W 2-0
...thats exhausting playing with all meta decks LOL ...hope to bring Marath next tourney
based on your 2nd match... rhada should be banned... LOL Kidding!
IT WAS YOU! (napulbos ako dun pre. 2nd match mo ako e. haha, sana makabawi ako syo nxt time)
it was a meta shift. what can i say, the old generals was too unprepared for those newer ones like derevi who packed a staggerring 40++ creatures.
ban hammer? it will opt for OLORO soon IMO.
Congratulations to the winners! more power to Duel Commander!

you think mana rocks is bad against derevi's?

oh the conspiracy.

i was pondering on this a while ago... found it here. http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Nicol_Bolas
well... i love speculating baselessly. LOL
the worst scenario dor us is, your opponent having spellskite in play. it messes up polymorph.
