there is a mis conception about COLORLESS mana source.
SOLRING is vital in all cases in EDh. in fact, all of the colorless mana sources are VITAL. how many times are you gonna gast your commander? even if your commander does not have colorless in its CMC.... it will have soon enough after it landed and you cast again... even if your deck does not depend on your commander that much.. you will still cast your commander when everything else fails. thats how and what commander/Elder dragon Highlander Format is... or as far as i know is. IMHFO.
Finally my rant. I HATE HATING, its a waste of time. thats all, lets just enjoy magic the way we want it to be.
can her +1 protect her from damage your opponents control until next turn? if it is like that... then she is very most likely imbalanced. with a 9/9 finisher when you get an emblem.
LD is hated because.... it destroys your lands? and lands are the very base of any deck, it is the main strategy of any deck, and is why you play spells... unless ofcourse if you play manaless stuffs in legacy.. then you would disagree.
I'll definitely go with the Paths, Staff and Sphere, but may I ask why Peer Through Depths wins out over Serum Visions? What testing I've done has almost exclusively been with Peer Through Depths, and while I appreciate being able to keep mana up at the end of a turn it still feels clunky. Whether I find a combo piece or counter, my opponent gets important information and it'll likely be at the expense of my countering or removing anything that turn.
I'm sure there's a reason to take Peer over Visions, I'm just not able to see it right now.
the reason why we run peer through depths is because it lets you dig spells (5 on top is very reasonably deep) and not let you draw an emrakul at hand that will cause you delay for a few turns.
IMO. Zur is not an issue at all. we run black which would actually disrupt Zur quickly on either a resolved permanent or a card in hand. it will have no escape.
the problem with derevi is.... it runs 40++ creatures which is all significant against you. destroys your land, destroys your enchantments, then can swing and beats you down evin if you gain much life and have already disrupted their hands... or am i just playing with a good player? probably the best around my town? LOL
protection from discard? Yawgmoth's will, brainstorm, Jace, the mind sculptor. these are my only protection against hand disruption. i guess its not enough, but who cares. the lesser hand, the happier we are. and laso, i would always mulligan my hand if i have doomsday at openning hand. i dont want it at oppening hand.
WOTC will reprint whatever they want as long as it is profitable... in the Fetchlands case. it will be highly profitable. especially with all of them in standard.
What do you guys think about Rest in Peace + Helm of Obedience. Would it be worth jamming that combo in? The only problem I see is that RiP doesn't play well with Doomsday.
Anyone have any experience against Marath?
i've just started playing Esper doomsday just the other day.
so my comment about this is, if RIp does not play well with our main win condition, then dont play it. its useless if you stuck it in your hand and wait for our doomsday to be countered. add some more hand disruptions. about 12 hand disruptions. Just IMO.
Round 1 - Maelstorm: Lose 1-2 - Could have won on game 2 with Skittles out and enough mana for a regen with him at 6 poison, but he cascades into two boardwipes. Game 3 early Fastbond means Lottery.dec wins.
Round 2 - Oloro: Win - 2-0, lol.
Round 3 - GAA4: Draw - Game 3 Cataclysm in the last 5 turns and STP on my critter before my alpha strike. Sad panda.
Round 4 - Llawan: Win - 2-1 - Won games 1 and 3. Locked down in game 2 with Veldalken Shackles and Isochron Scepter imprinted with Memory Lapse.
Round 5 - Talrand: Win - Paired down but Talrand gives me the win. Lucky break here.
Top 8 - Derevi: 2-1 - Phyrexian Revoker and mainboard hate Dystopia ftw.
Top 4 - Zur: 1-2 Game 1, he controls the board early with Tidehollow Sculler and SoBaM. Game 2, early Hymn to Tourach and Sudden Death on Zur lets me infect with derps. Skittles finishes. Game 3, down to 8 poison and no answers to my Phyrexian Crusader, he topdecks Brainstorm and gets Helm of Obedience. Zur fetches RIP. gg
Not a strong swiss showing for sure. But I did manage to Top 2 a 26-man tourney last October (no Derevis yet) using Skittles. I faced 3 Zurs in the swiss going 2-0-1 against them. Faced the same GAA4 in swiss and Top 4, losing the swiss and winning to get to the finals. Lost to Karador in the finals in 3 games 'cuz I didn't know his combos.
Zur is so skill intensive to play and when the really good players started to pilot him that was when his win numbers rose locally. GAA4 and GST were the popular choices before Derevi came out. A friend told me during their playtesting that GAA4 was weak to Derevi while Geist was 50/50; which could be the reason of the decline of those decks.
Prizes were really good in recent DC events in Manila so you'll expect players to use what will win.
GAA4 is a really bad choice right now especially with the rise of derevi decks. only Zur and oloro can match Derevi IMO.

Biorythm + underworld dreams = the end.

Mizzium Skin is better than emerge unscathed
