I'm an alleged "adult". 34, I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, a spouse, a house and responsibility up to my eyeballs. I make it out to draft about twice a year or I'll get drunk and draft mtgo every couple of months. I do try to hit every prerelease, though. I actually also played my first modern pptq a couple months ago.

I don't buy the x rares lots. I've had mixed success buying other lots with such vague auction titles as "magic the gathering cards". I randomly bought one on Sunday that showed up yesterday that I had too much happy for and had to post on the brag thread. Aim for the auctions that, rather than advertising x rares, don't advertise anything. Then look at the seller's other items to see that there isn't a lot of MTG related auctions (or a history of). One thing is sure, though...there definitely aren't as many treasure troves out there as there used to be.

I browse eBay all the time. I saw a random mtg auction from a lady in my province. She had a few lots of yugioh, but way more things such as shoes and...I dunno...girly stuff. I bid $30 (+15 shipping) and got it for 41 all told. It showed up today. It was an old theme deck box packed with cards. A bunch of good uncommons, a few decent rares...AND HOLY MOTHER OF GOD 8 DUAL LANDS. They're beat, but playable. I had too much happy. I had to let it out on an internet forum.

Hero's downfall is an edh house! I used to be all about the boardwipes, but that card is now in my black decks. I think the Dictate cycle has some potential, too.

I just ditched my modo collection (again!) And these guys are always the ones I end up going to. They're consistent, polite, reasonable and this time, it was incredibly fast. I've taken the cape fear credit before and didn't regret it (the envelope with my cards split in transit BUT IT WAS DOUBLE ENVELOPED!). This time I took PayPal and everything was processed today.

I speak super highly of these guys.

I would take pile a. I like nykthos, dromoka and the fetches. There's a little more, but I'd be happy with that.

When worldwake was just out of print I went to all of the Walmarts within 90 minutes of here and bought all of the fat packs I could find. It was 12 of them. I had the intention of immediately putting them on eBay for about $30 profit apiece. The crack addiction took over and I opened 5. I did list 4 on eBay, and I sat on the other 3 until last year. If I had sat on them all, I'd have done way better.

The one I regret most? I traded a Snapcaster for a foil Havengul Lich. I'm such an idiot.

Went 3-1-1 with Abzan. Came in 9th, winning only a consolation pack. With b/w mardu creatures, abzan comes out more aggro. My draw and loss were both against Jeskai. The b/w damage is great (harsh sustenance, I think). Absolute all star common in this. Didn't pull money. Frown

I sell them to my LGS for $20/per. He then cracks them and sells the singles at 1-2 per. 40-50?

Blistering Firecat in Onslaught. I opened 2 in a tournament pack (I miss those) and traded 1 back to the store for another tournament pack.

  • posted a message on Selling to buylists
The last time I did this, I let go of a substantial portion of my standard collection. There were 5 dealers there, and their buylists were all varying. I ended up making close to 65% of tcg mid at the time by shopping the dealers buylists. I guess the difference between a bottom of 50% for buylisting to one store for convenience versus spending 6 hours comparing buylist prices to get that extra percentage all depends on whether or not the value that you would gain is worth the time you spend gaining the extra. In short, what's your time worth?
