Yea I am not going to go buy a 100 dollar card for this. I like the card but it is not worth it to me. (Well maybe I will get it. One day, not today though.)
Haha yeah, I kinda figured. Thought I'd present the option though. After all, you're running the entire suite of swords, so you're obviously not playing a budget deck.
It's expensive to purchase, but if you're so inclined, Riding the Dilu Horse is an excellent option. The thing about it is that, while it's a sorcery, the effect isn't until end of turn, meaning Rafiq will have +2/+2 and Horsemanship so long as it remains on the battlefield, effectively acting like an aura that can't be removed.
One of the foibles of EDH is that, generally speaking, it's harder for a more traditional aggro deck to really compete, for a few reasons: multiplayer, higher life totals and generally larger creatures with whom smaller creatures often can't trade with or kill effectively.
That's where Iroas comes in. His abilities, best described as Goblin War Drums and Dolmen Gate stapled to an indestructible 7/4, are ideally suited to forcing through damage from smaller creatures, and his body is both harder to deal with and efficiently costed. It's also not terribly difficult to turn on his devotion. As such, this is the deck I've come up with:
Uh, no. We already have Ghave, Guru of Spores as a WBG Saproling commander. Adding red would only serve to make it more combo-y, which Ghave is plenty already.
Went 2-0-1 during Swiss today, then lost during the semi-finals. Small event, only 8 players, so not exactly telling results:
- Round 1, won 2-0 against mono-green ramp. Not exactly shocking when you can walk around them with Kabira Evangel.
- Round 2, won 2-0 against Abzan Midrange Control. I won game 1 on the strength of 2 things: a) I opted to mainboard 2 Leyline of Sanctitys exactly for this matchup, and b) he mulliganed down to 5, and while I didn't have natural Leyline in my opening hand, I drew one turn 2 and, because I cast a Noble Hierarch on turn 2, I was able to drop it turn 3. Then game two I got him with a hand that had no aggression but lots of stopping power. I had natural Leyline in play turn 1, and then I was able to Path to Exile both a Tarmogoyf and a Voice of Resurgence. After that, I was able to fade creatures off the top, triggering everything I played every turn.
- Round 3, I ID'd with Infect.
Alas, in the semi-finals of top 4, I lost to Tron. I won game one because, while he had natural Tron in hand, he didn't have anything to play with it except Oblivion Stone, which he would have cast and activated turn 4. He sandbagged it masterfully, playing a non-tron land on turn 3, bit I was able to do lethal next turn, so he never got it down. I lost game 2 and 3 to turn 2 Torpor Orb, being unable to find a piece of artifact removal both games. Game 3 I was able to get some good damage in thanks to Mirror Entity, but then he dropped World Breaker to both stonewall me and blow up my Stony Silence. I dropped a couple more guys the next turn in hopes that I could go wide the turn after that with Mirror Entity, but then he dropped Karn and exiled it. That was pretty much it, and Tron went on to beat a different Abzan Midrange Control deck in the finals.
Of the cards on that list, Tireless Tracker is actually the one that strikes me as being the most likely to make it. I've gotten to see it in action and it is a house.
I once beat Bruna while playing Sigarda 1v1 by playing Vow of Duty to prevent it from attacking, then Spirit Mantle on Sigarda to prevent Bruna from blocking.
@OP: Sigarda Voltron is actually quite beatable thanks to the cards that other people have mentioned in this thread. Up until a couple months ago, I played a Sigarda Voltron deck just like that. However, the metagame adapted with things like Arcane Lighthouse. That's when I decided to switch to a control style build.
You would expect a millennia old vampire would remember that kind of thing...
At this point, he probably just wants to forget. Sorin might be a milleniums-old vampire, but on that fateful day it was Nahiri's lawyer who was the REAL bloodsucker in the room.
Not often that you hear that 7/7s aren't getting the job done because they're too small.
If you're really intent on bumping up your removal suite, there are some green cards that can help, such as Desert Twister and Tornado. Green's ability to deal with creatures, aside from flyers, is quite limited, so you'll probably have to turn to cards like Karn Liberated, Duplicant and bothflavors of Ulamog.
I've thought about most of those cards before. I stopped trying to make tokens, maybe ant queen gets another shot. MY deck focuses on cheating big creatures in to play. I have been thinking about changing it a bit just have not made up my mind as to where yet. Question on tornado to make sure I'm reading it correctly. The first time you use tornado. All I have to do is pay 2G, I don't pay the three life since I put the counter on after I destroy the permanent? This is how I think it works.
1. 1st activation, destroy permanent: put counter on tornado, pay no life
2. 2nd activation, pay 3 life for 1 counter, destroy permanent, put 2nd counter on tornado. Total 2 counters.
3. 3rd activation, pay 6 life for 2 counters, destroy permanent, put 3rd counter on tornado. Total 3 counters.
Am I correct?
If there was an effect in green that would allow me to search for a permanent or artifact I'd probably play it but I've looked a lot and I have yet to find one. I know there there are things like planar portal. I'm trying to keep in mind that my strongest search effects search for creatures. Green Sun's Zenith, natural order, I know that there are other in general creature search effects such as wordly tutor. I'd need to use a general creature search effect to get Duplicant or one of the ulamogs. Which is fine. I was just really hoping for a green creature effect that somehow kills a creature that is not specific to flying. I know that it may not exist.
Unfortunately it seems like you're searching for support cards that simply don't exist. If you want to keep playing Omnath given that, you'll have to accept that limitation and either try and build your deck in a way that better takes advantage of Omnath's abilities (because, really, any color combo aside from maybe mono-white can cheat creatures into play in EDH) or simply live with the fact that it might never be what you want it to be. Given that you've already said that cheating fatties into play isn't getting the job done anymore, maybe it's time to look at a different approach.
As far as Tornado goes, yes, your interpretation of how it works is correct.
Love the primer Xaios. Im surprised I don't see Bain of Progress. Especially with all the tutors its so, so good. I find it really helps me in ALOT of situations. Have you given him a try?
Gxmiter took the words right out of my mouth. Despite the obvious green-ness of Omnath, he does run a pretty decent number of artifacts and enchantments. Playing an effect which destroys these things symmetrically when it would hurt me as much as my opponent doesn't make sense when there are other ways to accomplish the same thing in an asymmetrical way.

Not in the slightest.

Not the most insightful post, I know.
- Seasons Past
- Ulvenwald Hydra
- Traverse the Ulvenwald
- Tireless Tracker

Heh, that's no guarantee.

If going big isn't working, go wide. Make use of cards like Wolfbriar Elemental, Ant Queen and Avenger of Zendikar in conjunction with mass pump like Craterhoof Behemoth, Beastmaster Ascension and Kamahl, Fist of Krosa (which I see is already in your list).
