So, I imagine that many of us have built Superfriends decks in the past. However, given that a) there are only so many slots in a deck, and b) there are only so many planewalker types, I always felt I had to be judicious in which walkers of a given type to use in order to avoid type overlap. Wizards has just announced that they're doing away with the laneswalker uniqueness rule, and instead making all planewalkers legendary, which in turn makes planewalkers just like other legendary permanents in that the card name determines whether you need to sacrifice due to multiple copies on the field, instead of the planeswalker type.
Given that, will this affect what planeswalkers you put in your decks? If so, which planeswalkers do you think will make the cut that might not have before?
I'm looking at replacing Scapeshift with Hour of Promise. I rarely need to fetch more than 2 utility lands at a time, and the ability to tutor them into play without saccing other lands is appealing. Thoughts?
Pasted face 4-0 with this deck in draft tonight. Game record 8-2 on the night, with losses only because of a) Sweltering Suns, and b) keeping a slow hand against a slow deck.
Others have mentioned Arcum Dagsson, and I agree with their choice of commander. However, they've also mentioned doing things like getting a Blightsteel Colossus into play on turn 3. I don't really view this as mean, because, while it's certainly very powerful, it also basically ends the game right then and there unless someone has an answer in-hand, thus granting your opponents sweet release all too soon. No, if you really want to be mean with Arcum Dagsson, go the prison route: things like Tanglewire, Winter Orb, Rising Waters, Back to Basics, Static Orb and ultimately Possessed Portal. It will take you absolutely forever to win the game, but you will win eventually, and your opponents will be forced to watch and wait in anguish until you do.
On an unrelated note, you might want to hire a bodyguard before doing this. No reason.
Is this the new Ex-marine with XX confirmed kills meme? People who like magic buy packs. You don't need to be a psychoanalyst to realize that. Maybe YOU won't buy any packs because you have righteously decided not to (and people like this are a dime a dozen and still buy the cards/packs), magic players are going to buy magic cards until the end of time. Your righteous indignation does little to convince anyone...
What made you feel you needed to butt into the conversation between myself and the other member? I don't give 2 *****s if I convince anyone or not. I do care when people presume to know how I think and say that I am wrong. I'm stating my position, he thinks I am lying. I don't take that lightly. Don't hide behind the internet with words that you wouldn't say to someone's face. Do what you need to do but don't ******* dare to pretend you know one thing about me and what I can or cannot do of my own volition.
Buddy, it's the internet; no one here actually really cares about whether or not you're true to your convictions in real life. However, the more you protest about your unassailable principles, the less likely it is that anyone will actually believe you, because everyone here knows that feigned moral outrage is one of the preferred tools of practiced liars. Do yourself a favor and let it go before you give yourself an ulcer, because there is nothing else to be gained beyond the hollow and meaningless sense of personal satisfaction that can only come from arguing with strangers on the internet.
What you need to do is talk to the rest of the people in your playgroup and find out how they feel. If there's generally a consensus that Emrakul is not wanted at your table, then your friend needs to either get rid of it or face the prospect of being excluded. If the rest of the playgroup doesn't take issue with, then you'll need to accept it.
(If there's a split, I think personally that the RC's restricted list should prevail.)
This is very true. I remember how much of a huge step up the quality of the deck composition took when C14 came out, compared to C11 and C13.
Regardless, this is my opinion of the best deck out-of-the-box in each cycle:
C11: Devour for Power (The Mimeoplasm)
C13: Eternal Bargain (Oloro, Ageless Ascetic)
C14: Sworn to Darkness (Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath)
C15: Plunder the Graves (Meren of Clan Nel Toth)
C16: Invent Superiority (Breya, Etherium Sculptor)
C17: Vampiric Bloodlust (Edgar Markov)
Given that, will this affect what planeswalkers you put in your decks? If so, which planeswalkers do you think will make the cut that might not have before?

...
Well, at least it'll have great character creation. The quality of every other aspect, however, is anyone's guess.

Might I suggest Dauthi Embrace?
Ditto. I've always felt the original art and flavor text were more fitting to the card than the Garruk-ized version.
