However, Temporal Mastery is the most fair of the traditional extra turn cards. Its the only card we allow because you cant hit it with a Chancellor of the Spires, Spelltwine, Snapcaster, etc. Also, I run a Personal Tutor and Mystical Tutor, so I put one in my deck. Most of them its just an explore for mono blue.
What kind of experiences do you guys typically have when ordering older, expensive cards from amazon?
I received a $50 gift card to amazon for Christmas and I thought about putting it towards legacy cards, like duals, fetches, or FOW. The only cards I've ever ordered from amazon were standard, and were therefore, unplayed. However, I am worried that since amazon doesn't state the condition of the card, I could get something that's terribly played. Some of the retailers that they use are credible vendors, like Troll and Toad and Strikezoneonline, but the lack of condition has me worried.
I'm planning on going to SCG Atlanta in a couple of days and I will be taking this. My question is how should I update the SB? Since this will be a new fomat, I expect alot of aggro decks, particularly boros and RDW. Here are some options I've considered thus far.
- Addition of Experiment One as a road block and as a later threat
- Fiend Hunter for their Hellriders and such
- Cartel Aristocrat to have a great blocker
I really dont like Gyre Sage, especially in a midrange deck. I feel like she has too much setting up involved. I honestly think Farseeks would be better
I really hate top loaded pages. I carry my binders, deckboxes, and dice in a backpack. One day, I accidently put my top loaded binder and pages upside down in my backpack. My baneslayer angel slid out and was severely bent (which was 40 bucks at the time.)
With side loaded binders, you don't have to worry about sliding out.
These are all great suggestions. I think you've guys convinced me to go voltron with a mill subtheme. Targeted single discard effects tend to be horrible in multiplayer EDH, which is what this will be played in.
Also, I might want to run a Yawgmoth's will in order to make the symmetrical effects more in my favor. Other than snapcaster mage, are there any other u/b cards to buy back graveyard stuff?
I've been playing the Mimeoplasm for a while now, but I've been getting bored of it. I am thinking about trying out Lazav and playing a U/B control with mill components, but I need help coming up with other cards that can be mill themed. Here are some cards that come to mind.
Chains of Mephistopheles- I'll admit, this is kind of a pet card, and I really just want to find a home for it. I like the idea that it punishes blue players by making them discard for me. I could also run Howling mine type effects, like Otherworld Atlas, Font of Mythos, etc.
Mesmeric Orb- Even though this hits me, it can get crazy in the late game.
Psychic Spiral
Consuming Abberrition
Life's Finale
The usual Reanimator package
Body Double
Keening Stone
I realize Mill is not a viable win con for EDH, so i plan to play control while milling for my general's effect.
I've been playing the normal Human reanimator list for a month now ( the one that one SCG open last weekend) and I can tell you now that its far superior to yours. In any sort of combo deck, you will need redundancy and consistency. You have way too many 1 ofs to be consistant.
Run 4 Huntmaster
4 Angel of Glory's Rise
4 Mulch
4 Grisley Salvage
4 Faithless looting
It is far better to have a consistent deck than one with too many 1-ofs.
Havengul best fits in a deck with Heartless summoning. While the combo is no longer standard legal, the value is just too good. Also, Evil Twin is a surprisingly fantastic card with Havengul lich. I have a friend testing with Heartless BUG Lich and its pretty sick. Turn three Thragtusks can be brutal, but recasting them is even more awesome.

I'm playing the traditional Human Reanimator that tour up MTGO back in December. Here a similar list piloted by Joe Lossett a couple weeks back. http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=52212
