I´ve played all versions (R, RU, RG, RW, RB) and RW is the best (although only R was very funny). I suggest you changing silence for Orim´s chant because it´s almost the same effect but chant can save you from being attacked.
I've tried Orim's chant before and I switched it to silence because, although not played in a whole lot of legacy decks, I've actually had it misdirected too many times that I just got fed up with it. Silence keeps that from happening since you can never be your own opponent....regardless of how bad you are playing
Hey I'm kinda new here and have yet to figure out how to use deck tags, so if someone could PM me or the moderator just go ahead and edit deck tags in here it would be greatly appreciated.
I was wondering which deck build of sneak attack is better. I know the deck in general is starting to see play and doing moderately well but there are a few builds which have been tinkered around with and I was wondering what the general consensus was on which is best.
RU version
This one runs brainstorm and force of will and the like. I used to play this deck in Vintage with recall and time walk and mana drain and timetwister if things got really out of hand. It did pretty well and the only 2 creatures it ran were playsets of serra avatar and nicol bolas. I realize that since you dont have the moxen or lotus to power sneak attack out there so fast to kill your opponent with an avatar on turn one so in legacy I would say the eldrazi are strictly better. Anyway, deck seems good with brainstorm for digging and the counterspells are a nice touch in keeping your sneak attack safe.
R version
This one sis my least favorite. Running gamble is just too much of a risk and you have no real way to protect your sneak attack game 1 against any counter deck out there right now. Sure game 2 you can side in red blast but those still dont do it for me. The mana accel is less than stellar and it just seems to fragile with no protection game 1. once again, runs Eldrazi.
RW version
This is my personal favorite and the one I have assembled right now. The tool box is great with enlightened tutor and silence. Since the deck relies on sneak attack, you pretty much have to mulligan until you find it or you just cry on the inside. Enlightened Tutor solves that problem. I run 4 of each of the Eldrazi, and 2 Nicol Bolas and 2 Sphinx of the Steel Wind and kargan dragonlord so 20 creatures total. Some people wonder about the bolas and sphinx but let me explain, whats better on turn 1 or 2 than a bolas to the face? sure you can turn one or 2 emrakul but what would that accomplish? You might get a land and some inconsequential one drop but it still wont kill them. Bolas to the face buys you stupid amounts of time. Sphinx of the steel wind is amazing because if you have sneak attack and no creatures, just go ahead and tutor this bomb up with Enlightened tutor, saved my ass more times than i can count. Kargan Dragonlord confuses a lot of people but he has his uses. If you dont have sneak attack you lose, if someone drops pithing needle, you lose. Kargan Dragonlord is a great early drop against goblins and if you have nothing better to do, level him up and start the beats. he has also been a great addition to the deck.
I run silence in this version as well for 2 reasons. 1. it gets around counter magic, cast silence and then cast your sneak attack without having to worry about counterspells. and 2, against tendrils or belcher combo, its great to use in response to spell 7 to 9. let them try to combo and use all their pieces and then silence them and the game is over. I'm looking for input on which you guys think is best
How does it kill the moxen flavor? The Original 5 Moxen (plus Diamond for quite a while) have been essentially Legendary since the first restricted list back in 1994. They are not totally unique, but are so rare as to be nothing more than myth and legend to the average person.
Well I have the 5 original moxen. And when I'm playing vintage and I play a Mox Emerald, I dont have to worry about my opponent playing a krosan grip on my emerald by playing his own. Restricted and Legendary are not even remotely the same thing. So to someone who plays with the "myth and legend" moxen, it kills the moxen flavor
The alter on the swords to plowshares looks amazing. I kinda just started so sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, but what set is that from? The only StP art i know of are from the ABU and Ice age editions, both those arts suck
Also, HELL YEAH to everyone who posts on this page! 1337 fellas!
I'm not complaining about metalcraft. Honestly, it's a pain in the ass for sure but it's not what kills the card. Why make it legendary? not only does it make the card suck, it kills the flavor of moxen.
Sorry guys but I gotta go with Viperesque on this one. Although the fact that he does indeed let you draw your library with Ad Nauseum, he doesn't let you do much else thats productive. And I also fail to see how giving them an 8/8 that does not allow their life total to be altered at all productive. then they just beat the hell out of you with the 8/8 you so generously gave to them.
Does anybody know of a use to break mox opal in legacy. It's ☺☺☺☺in legendary! Why the hell is a mox legendary. I really can't see this being at all useful except maybe in ANT. but ANT functions just fine without it
