Thinking of building this deck because I have a lot of the pieces and the new card looks sweet with it. How important is simian spirit guide?

Ok, thanks guys. Going to try the white splash again and figuring out my sb. Going to run the Return instead of Kataki.

In the white splash, what's better K Return or Kataki? I feel like they take similar slots against affinity and the sb is tight because of the souls and ranger.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. I kind of dig the 2/1 split with 2 K command md still.

So there's a list I saw that was kind of interesting. It ran K command in the sb and a 2/2 split of both Lili's. I'm not sure how good it is to be honest as it was one of the team unified decks.

Had a pretty good run tonight despite ending 2-2.

Round 1, ripped affinity apart. Granted, this affinity player is very bad.
    1-0

Round 2, wrecked Breaking and entering combo
Game 1, get the hand hate and beats going too fast for him.
Game 2, He rips my hand apart, but I get him to 12 while I'm at 14. He takes my 6/7 goof and hits me with a griselbrand. I go to 1, he draws 7 and I crack back with a temur battlerage for lethal.
    2-0

    Round 3 Ad Nauseum

I keep a land heavy hand with hand rip, I know, bad idea. I take his unlife and lightning storm. Feeling pretty confident, but then I flood and end up with all of my lands in play and lose to the maniac draw.

Game 2, I get it all, hand hate and beats take him to 0 in a few turns.

Game 3, turn 0 turns off most of my hand and I don't hit dudes to kill him in time.

    2-1.

Round 4, I play Jeskai Kiki control
Game 1, Hand rip and tripple goyf beats end it fast.

Game 2, Elsepeth stabilizes and it comes close, but he wins

Game 3, super close, but he gets my threats off the board and gets me to snap bolt range.

    2-2

Nothing was a blow out and I still love the deck. I am going to give the white splash another go though as both matches would have been a lot better with it.

Would be great since it seems that the other guy left the thread.

Speaking of possible new cards for the deck, we should definitely pay attention the the new split cards too. If they're two types, they count as both in the GY and might be better than say tarfire or architect.

It's mostly up to preference. The white sb cards are really good, but occasionally makes the mana awkward.

I'm a little surprised vendetta doesn't see at least a slot in the sb. Most the big dudes we're worried about aren't black and it can set us up for a big crack back. I can see the downside of it getting turned off though.

It feels like you're overthinking about cards that could see play in this deck. I don't think you want to get fancy with the deck, you want it to be brutally efficient and effective against a large spectrum of decks. This is the new Jund deck for the foreseeable future
Probably. I get excited when I start playing new decks. Look for any tech that can be good and see if it is. I'm also eager to see if any Amhonket cards will be strong enough for modern and this deck specifically.

I do agree that it can be a bad draw at times and that's why I've only been playing it as a 1 of. I have been testing it and enjoy it so far. I also like being able to guarantee another land drop if I need it. There's so many corner cases for it too. Like countering an opposing surgical extraction. I've also been able to keep 1 landers with it more often because I can set up my draw to hit the second land I need to finish playing my hand out.

Has anyone else tested noxious revival? It's pretty solid by itself as a "shock" and lets us recycle anything in our yard. It's especially nice with street wraith and slightly less with bauble. There's some corner case situations where you can control your opponents next draw too.
