Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more mythics than 15 and we see the full Praetor cycle spoiled on Friday.

    Welp.

The span of the number crunch is no longer something that is known from the Card Image Gallery at wizards.com, it is only a guess.

    ...

Great! Aether Vial and Ravager back in (theoretical) play!

    No Minamo. Frown

How accurate is the color cutoff and numbering? I find it curious that we only have 1 more artifact slot before Cranial Plating. I figured one of either Aether Vial or Arcbound Ravager was guaranteed, but it really could be neither.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there are more mythics than 15 and we see the full Praetor cycle spoiled on Friday.

Though there are «drafting archetypes», I don't think they'll go as far as include the full constructed decks :p

If it was me I would be buying up those since they were in the last Modern Masters as this might be what happens.

This is true. I can acquire the blinkmoths and glimmervoids easily, and cheaply enough that a reprint wouldn't kill me; it's the ravagers that pose a bit more of a problem. Thinking about it some, I'm still probably better off buying now and swallowing a short-term loss than to wait and pay $30-$40 per ravager.

With Metalcraft being a thing, you have to think some enablers are a shoe-in.

Are glimmervoid/blinkmoth nexus/arcbound ravager shoe-ins for this set? With Mox Opal and Cranial Plating spoiled, I'm thinking of giving Affinity a go. It'd suck for the Mox Opal price decrease to be off-set by increases in response to other rare staples not being reprinted.

OMG @ Terese Neilsen guest appearance. OMG!

On-topic, the anger directed at Fade should be directed at the supplier working out a deal with him. Fade is free to propose whatever sort of deal he wants and is free to capitalize when his proposal is accepted. Now, I do feel 8 boxes may be a bit excessive, but that's beside the point - the supplier will determine that. It sounds like Fade put in considerable time and effort to track down this store and its supplier; he created the opportunity for himself and deserves to reap the benefits. Theoretically, anyone in that area could have done the same, but general apathy appears to have played to Fade's advantage.

Personally, I've pre-ordered 2 boxes at $275 Canadian (basically US MSRP) and I think that's a fair price. If they were cheaper, I'd still have capped it at 2 because that's what's reasonable to me; I figure with my current collection, it's enough to build two decks with, one of which would be Tier 1 (maybe 2, if Scornful Sprites turns out to be legit). I haven't seen or read about boxes being offered for less locally.

One of the LGS just posted on Facebook they're doing pre-order boxes for $275 CAD cash price, $300 otherwise. That's insane since that's less than MSRP with the current exchange rate.

Literally within the same hour I just signed a cheque for $15k to finish our landscaping...I wonder if the wife will notice if I "accidentally" delete the patio? :p

Would they happen to be located in Brampton?

One of the bigger LGS near me has been steadily upping their buylist price on Spellskite. I would've thought a Spellskite reprint was all but guaranteed, but the rising buy price concerns me.

This could also be their attempt of getting as much money as possible before it drops. Frankly they should be selling it for the average of what most others are selling it for, but I suppose I don't have a business.

Except that's what they're paying people for it! They give 25% on top of that for trade-in credit (however, this is offset by significantly higher prices on singles, even counting the weak CDN-USD exchange rate). My heart is telling me to take the money and run, but my brain tells me something's amiss.

More goyfs is the right decision. Printing it at mythic is also expected; they set the precedent with the first, so why would they turn around and give an even larger collector audience the finger by mass printing at rare?

My only question is whether the print run for Modern Masters 2 going to be as low as the first. Even if they doubled the print run, I can't see Tarmogoyf dropping to pre-MM prices (which was already too rich for my blood). The bottom has to be $150 or so.

    Strictly better than Silverblade Paladin.

The art screams Twilight Angel. I don't think it could be Gisela, since there are no references to Avacyn. Even counting for artistic license, it makes more sense to depict the Twilight Angel dual-wielding than it does to make Gisela's appearance generic.

They all look good to me except for Ajani. Can't say I remember how last year's looked, but they ran out last year before my buddy had a chance to purchase. Hoping they print more this year, since I don't think they realized how popular these would be the first time around.

If they had Jim Lee do this instead of Jae, I'd fork over whatever ungodly amount people are selling them for.

Says a lot about my casualness when the new (?) Juggernaut art has me all giddy. I've been away from Magic for a little bit, but this looks great for a core set. I'll try a pre-release or two.

This is probably about the only way they can continue to develop the format without pissing off collectors and business partners, so I guess something's better than nothing.

Chances are there's more value in here than the asking price, so I'm not gonna scoff at the MSRP. The real problem is that they'll definitely be marked up to reflect the "value" of the contents. Either way, they have my attention.
