My favorite card is...*que drum roll*......
Mayael the Anima! She was a great card to build a deck around in casual and she remains one of my favorite edh decks to use to this day

Jan 6, 2013Rutherjc19 posted a message on U/W/G/- R Splash, Creature Controlthis just topped 4 at my fnm so i was pretty exited.Posted in: Rutherjc19 Blog
We all split the prizes, but since we were bored i played my opponent anyways, beating him as well. So iwould have at least made it to 2nd, and with my points i would have been first even if i didn't play my next opponent. First fnm ive done that so im pretty stoked -
Jan 3, 2013Rutherjc19 posted a message on U/W/G/- R Splash, Creature Controlgot a lot better results when i added another revelation, took out 1 o ring, added 2 more hard counters mb, added 1 more farseek, and 1 more land.Posted in: Rutherjc19 Blog
hoping to take this to fnm tomorrow, any advise is welcomed -
Jun 20, 2012Rutherjc19 posted a message on U/W Blink-Bounce AKA Venser-Stonehorn ComboEmancipation Angel! I also ran Cathedrl Santifier as well which kept me up to 20 or above life when i was down to about 17 twice. plus i mean its a free return for a creature with an etb effect, do you realize how much someone would hate the fact that you have a snapcaster or restoration angel BACK in your hand AGAIN, with good graveyard set up, also i would try to see about getting either sun or frost titan. with stonehoard/venser/restortion stalling you shouldn't have any problem, but i would recommend adding think twice if you did that, wonderful for control decksPosted in: GrickyTimmick Blog
hope i helped! if you would i have a g/w human/angel deck that needs critiquing if you could return the favor i would appreciate it - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
So for me, Humans usually won't be a terrible match up for most of us, most of the time. Most of us are running a lot of removal. Take care of the Mayor and champion asap. Watch for tricks with Vial if you have electrolyze or other burn spells you're playing if you're targeting any creatures. Pending person be prepared for both Thalia's, both can be troublesome but not back breaking. Don't be afraid to mulligan, don't be greedy.
I think my iteration will have an easier time with this match up due to more removal vs playing swiftspear and delver, but if you chop up their few early plays and you have a swiftspear and a flipped delver you will close the game out before I do. These human decks do not have room for removal so if you're delver flips early you're most likely good to go.

I'm getting back in the habit of playing on cockatrice so im taking extensive notes. Just played against taking turns and 8rack, both 2-0.
I will post my notes later on when i play a couple more games of mtg so i can have a good set of notes for people to read.
As far as Young P is concerned I don't like him main deck, pending how your meta is. Mine is filled with so much removal thats why geist shines and everything else dies lol side I like if you have room. i go bigger against abzan and grindy match ups which is better for my deck build, but I can see young p being very good for the leaner lower curve delver/swiftspear builds. But when I would draw it, I would usually wish it was something else. You also usually should wait until you can play it alongside something to make sure you get value like when players wait to play tireless tracker until they have a land to play with it in the same turn.

Hello again my fellow peeps Another 2-1 with my opponent urging to ID the last round so he can go eat out with his friend... s unfortunately I was not able to play 4 rounds... once of these freakin days ill be able to actually play 4 rounds.
Emeria R1
First Round
I think he is on soul Sisters but it turns out to be an Emeria, the sky Ruin deck. Squadran Hawks, Flickerwisp, Blase Splicer, Wrath of God maindeck, Pilgrim's Eye, Lone Missionary, mistveil plains which turned out to be really good during out grindfest of g2 that he took over with that and Sun Titan. Activating that and putting a squad hawk into the library, playing or attacking with Sun Titan to get a Squad Hawk then getting the other one back was pretty good lol All the cards that i seen, moving on.
So I see both Copies of Electrolyze this game t3, snap t5 electrolyze, then a few turns after I see the other copy. This card destroyed him lol Squad hawks and blade plicer and flickerwisp (which btw seemed pretty good to flickerwisp a bladesplicer to get another goldem)...after I played geist t4 he played his wrath but I drew another one soon after and just rode it to victory.
Took out 2 helix, a logic knot, 2 geist and a bolt,
Brought in 2 Relic, 2 Pia, 1 EE, 1 Staticaster.
G2 it starts a little worse for me. I'm partially flooding out and he is drawing into some good things this round. An unanswered Sun Titan just runs away with this game combined with the Mist plains. I saw a relic earlier this game but popped it to try to counter an Oblivion Ring that was going to target my spell queller that had snagged his flickerwisp. He makes a few more golems and I flood out not really doing too much this game.
g3 went a lot more my way. Bolt, path, geist, Izzet staticaster was in my opening hand and that single handedly won my the game lol just did the jeskai way this game, removal, a cryptic, and rode geist to the Win. Great games, a lot of fun.
2-1 = 1-0
Affinity R2
T1 he pays a blinkmoth... then passes.. sweet! My hand is FLOODED with removal. 2 lightning helix, a bolt, 1 electrolyze, 2 lands and a serum visions. He plays stuff, I kill it. He plays stuff, I kill it. He plays stuff, I keep killin it lol
Steel overseer, master of etherium, arcbound ravager and he didnt have enough to get him out of helix range, then plays a vault skirge and swings with a blinkmoth nexus so i tag them with electrolyze. I see a spell queller but it eats a galvanic blast. finally i get to my Celestial Colonnade and I start working my way down. Felt like it took forever to see it this game. See geist soon after, and i win kind of easily.

mull to 6, I keep a one lander fetch on the play with a bolt and EE, a snare and a logic.
Scry doesnt matter but i fetch t1 and serum visions. got a land and set up a land for next turn so im good. He Thoughtseize my logic knot, and I hit a ravager with the spell snare, but then I soon get a cranial plating in my face. Im able to stir off a big attack with it with a few removal spells and then EE away the cranial. He just plays another with Etched Champion, balls. I dont draw my supreme verdict but it didnt matter, and lose soon after he plays Bloodmoon... i forgot they played this... lol 1-1
g3
I'm greedy and Keep a one lander but with my hand looks good. I really give this a long look, and know I shouldn't have kept it but my gut said It would work out So i trusted him lol
We trade back and forth on a couple things, nothing is stickin on his side but im staling on lands. He gets a Champion down with a plating and my heart sinks slightly, without any counter spells from me, and sets up for next turn. I play Pia and Kiran Nalaar so I have a couple blockers thankfully.
I'm running on a very short clock and i even spite him and start attacking with pia and k. I play my other one and stall longer. last turn.... SUPREME VERDICT YES! Slam it down after attacking. He draws land, the race is on. I need a land for CC.. got it! start the clock, he hits a few lands and a vault skirge but i hit that easily. THE GAME IS MINE!
2-1 = 2-0
last round... mono black Infect... he wrecks me. Just legitimately stomps me. 0-2
1st game 2 discard spells hitting a logic knot and a geist, and i top deck a lucky geist for t3 but he plays Liliana of the veil on his t3 and clears it. After getting rid of 2 geist and a logic knot I dont have too much more to do and I draw irrelevant stuff and he beats me with a Inkmoth Nexus attached to Lashwrithe... that game ended stupid quick. I also made a mistake during the game and am definitely not used to playing against Lashwrithe. I lightning helix'ed it instead of path to exile it off of a snapcaster flashback. For some reason I thought that would kill it... not really sure what was going through my mind... moving on...

I mull to 6 after a no lander. Keep an ok hand. He starts with 2 discard spells, hitting another login knot and a v clique.
He rides a Liliana of the Veil up to 6 since I don't draw anything i can throw at her and my spell queller and Celestial colonnade attack arent sticking around due to fatal push, and ult's Lili after I play a P and K. So i keep the pile that has 2 thopters and 2 lands which gives me all colors. I am stuck on 2 lands, I have a snap in my hand that im thinking about throwing out to try to get the damage race on since he doesn't have anything else, but i keep it hoping to hit a land so i can serum visions. I'm thinking if he top decks a lashwrithe and an infect creature he will have me in 2 turns, So i wont win the damage race anyways and need to set up my library for some kind of answer to actually win. So i keep it for 2 attacks, and throw it out anyways when i draw stuff i cant play. He plays phyrexian crusader.... SOAB.. he finds ANOTHER one a couple turns later and He rides those thoroughly to victory. I never really felt like I had a chance against this deck. I kind of think i should have left in a couple geists but i dont know.
All in all the deck still feels very good. I am going to drop geist down to 3, probably 4 my quellers. I also adjusted the mana base to have a mountain and 2 hallowed fountains.
Been considering Runed Halo, Thundermaw Hellkite, and or Gideon, Ally of Zendikar for my sideboard. Halo for a whole bunch of match ups, the other 2 I just want to have a threat I can rely on that I don't have to worry about getting fatal pushed if i side out my Geist. Gideon I had great success with in a jeskai geist shell. I havent used thundermaw with this build yet.
Hope everyone is doing well and happy thanksgiving

Hola my jeskai peeps. After literally, over a year I'm finally back to going to TNM. I went last Tuesday
Results: 2-1. I wanted to play my last round but my opp had to leave early so I was nice and we intentionally drew the last one, and I just made him hand over his participation pack lol

I feel a lot better about this match up since I'm running logic knot + Geist. First game went smoothly. Great starting hand. Helix t2 into geist t3 im on the play. I'm waiting him to slam something big since he's hit tron on t3, but he doesn't hit anythin, just a bunch of the filter star/sphere's. I leave mana open for my cryptic command, he trys to play ugin I counter and draw. Ride a Celestial colonnade to victory after he wipes my geist with oblivion stone, the look on his face when he reads NONland permanents... fantastic lol

Starts out pretty much the same, t3 he plays a Wurmcoil Engine, and I throw out a Snapcaster, just to get my beats started early. I path his wurm, and beat. Hold up some counter magic. I spell queller an ancient stirrings, he isn't drawing anything too powerful. I hold up more counter magic this turn, beats with snap and queller. I draw a pia and kiran nalaar but not enough red mana... awkward... lol he tries to fatal push my spelll queller, i cryptic command. Next turn i beat and hold up another queller and logic knot. HE goes for a stirrings, i queller it. He plays oblivion stone, and i logic knot for 5, if he pays, he is short for mana to crack it, so i get him good Smile
prolly a few turns i forgot but you get the basic gameplay lol

This is a good friend of mine, so i laughed because i knew the only way i was going to win is if he drew terrible, at least the first game anyways. I have sideboard tech (a little) for it G2/3.

He drew terrible lolol He got stuck on 1 land, and a dryad arbor. I killed the arbor quickly and was able to counter everything relevant which was great. He has a better start. He was slow playing his enchantments due to me leaving mana open for counter spells, I let him play a few minor ones, path a kor spiritdancer and bolt a gaddock teeg and countered the big ones like rancor and I wear / tear his spider umbra so the angel on geist can get through. Then I just played another one after he blocks and kills the first one. Cryptic the team a couple times and I get in with lethal with a celestial colonnade, and a burn spell.

Blue Moon
1-2, A freaking slug fest. blue moon is always a difficult match for me personally. i did not take notes as we would have never finished the round lol
Keranos, god of storms + Blood Moon + Search for Azcanta is a crazy good combo when I can't play spells... lol I squeezed in a geist before he blood moon on the 2nd game and got there. 3rd game i got ooober f'ed on fetches and wasn't able to fetch basics in time before he landed 2 blood moons... echoing truth is a possibility here lol
I have been speaking personally to Harlan Firer about his deck and it's been cool to talk about the in's and out's of his deck (which is the one im using currently).
I've been advised to take out mystic gate, and put back in my basic mountain by him as well. What do you guys think? Sorry about my slopy note taking. It will get better once I get back into the hang of things.

Been jamming a ton of games on xmage. I have a lot of notes to type up about cards and stuff but with kids and being out of town for 2 days I wont get to much of it today probably lol
So far (testing on xmage) the midrange has won WAY more than the delver build. Delver never reliably flips for me.
I am tweaking the list and not giving up on it yet so no worries.
I can say that no matter what version I play, Geist of Saint Traft is a freaking beast, for sure.

maybe testing in person will be much different, im not sure.
About to go to my card person and buy some cards so not sure which deck to play yet lol
Those are some great tips. I haven't seen queller enough to speak for it. Only about 3 games i have seen it lol
1 time it grabbed a timely summoner's pact,
2nd time it got a resto angel, 3rd time it got a burn spell i believe.
All ok, nothing great but a counter on a body isnt shabby, and with remand and stuff i dont mind holding the mana open most of the time.
My plays are getting better, and im getting more comfortable and familiar. Sometimes i just need to stream my thinking into,
"Am i the aggressor, or the control"? Then go from there.
I do wanna try ancestral in the sides though for all this control bs running around lol

hey gang. I apologized to StevomatUWR awhile back via messager cuz i kinda called him out for no reason and acted like a complete douche. So just apologizing here just to clean the air. Now moving on...
This is my list! I've been getting deSTROYED online via xmage ( Ruthejc19 is my name, friend me! )
Ive been learning a lot about my playstlyle. I made a lot of misplays throughout this xmage journey. Heres my record... not a lot of wins to be warned... i have to get used to when to lean on pressure vs my counter magic. sometimes I realized I should have played my burn spell vs counter magic and sometimes vice/versa.
0-2 Cheerios (new puresteel paladin build)
2-0 Through the breach
1-2 Burn
1-2 R/W control (dont remember the record... its possible a 2-1)
0-2 Amulet Titan
0-2 Mill
1-2 U/W control (w/ sphinx's revelation)
Notes about the deck:
-I have never been able to cast Elspeth, every single time ive had it in my hand ive been stuck on lands. May drop her.
-I like Negate Mainboard
-I kinda want more spell pierce, it has been good.
-delver is great when it flips and is terrible when it doesnt lol
-there was only 1 game where i couldnt cast cryptic command (when i got to 4 mana)
-im thinking for the online thing i need to fix the manabase with another fetch and more basics + check lands like sulfur falls. its annoying when i get those fast lands on t4 lol
-i think geist has to go up to 4, just not seeing it enough to play it on curve.
-Vapor snag was in the place of path, and every single time... i absolutely hated it. so i dropped it for now lol
im getting my ass handed to me out here guys so anything you can say to help, i will greatly appreciate it lol will probably put sahili in the place of elsepth to test, or another geist. we will see!
*edit* went 1-0 against a bant exaulted deck (random casual player)
Got disconnected against infect but I would have 1-0'ed him. He had 1 card left iin hand with no infector on the field and i was about to slam geist and he was aat 12.
I'm not trying to be a douche, but i wouldnt go to an infect page asking people to check out this page about bw tokens.
I was planning on probably cutting down my removal for more burn. I will not be replacing mantis riders though. I may trim him though. If you played with them as much as I have you would understand how good they are. why cant rider and delver go together? I like multiple flyers Lol
I do agree on cutting land if im going to be keeping the curve the same. I'm thinking of going a little bigger due to my meta and how hard my area is pushing love for control decks and fatal push.
Mentor has gotten worse since the ban, im not sure if ill be picking them up just yet. I will be taking another look at boros charm though for sure.
4 Snapcasters is a must honestly. It's seriously one of the best modern cards in the format. I think the only reason a person isnt running 4... is because they dont have 4 lol
