Toploaders always seem to be too tight for 4 cards + a sleeve. Is there a better way to ship 4-8 magic cards in a plain white envelope while also being cost efficient?

I guess cutting up cardboard and sandwiching?

I took a vacation to Tokyo earlier and the difference in professionalism is insane. I bought out stores that mispriced cards to the level of cleaning them out of 40+ copies of 20 dollar cards priced at 4, and they shipped them all same day, then updated the price to 20 for any future copies. I did similar things to at least a dozen other stores, and they all did the same. Not one issue with card condition - even the "SP" cards were NM. They're all super nice too; if you email/call them with a question they'll respond right away: I even had a guy at Tomoharu Saito's store take time out of his schedule to call me personally to discuss the cheapest ways of getting a website (since I want to become a store by 2014 and figured I'd ask random stores how they did it. The Americans I asked were basically like FU, figure it out on your own).

Be sure to check out the magic scene both online and in person if you guys ever go there. Worth your time. If this post came off as a random brag that I made some money buying magic cards that's obviously not my intention - just that more stores and vendors in this country should take a page out of their playbook. One of the biggest reasons SCG is so big despite having the highest prices is that you can trust them to be professional.

They do things to try and manipulate the market, like bumping Advent of the Wurm to $10 right after their own AJ Sacher writes an article about how good it is, and constantly pulling down stock on items. People can deny it all they want and will always do so. They're not the only influence on the market but the fact that they are one at all is dangerous.

Do not use GSP for your listings. You will lose a lot a sales with canadian buyers. For us, GSP is simply ridiculous extra fees we have to pay.

I only buy from US sellers that do not use this program.

    Interesting. Thanks.

I recently got back into eBaying, and see they have a global shipping program. If someone out of the US (I live in NY) buys my item and they qualify for the program, do I still get charged extra for the international shipping? Or is it just like shipping to the US?

It just seems a little bit strange that Dark Confidant was at $60 on SCG for the longest time. Then MORE supply of it is added to the market and the price... rises $20?

I guess this is partially explained by increased interest in the modern format, but it still seems somewhat odd to me.

Not odd at all, just typical SCG manipulating the market. It's really getting out of hand, and people blindly stand up for them for god knows what reason.

Even if they were actually out of stock on Bob at some point, which is entirely possible, they're still manipulating the market if they're buying at retail and bumping the price up. It's the same thing.

They are trying to provide supply for their customers. I suppose some people think it's crazy to do that. They have 0 Confidants in stock, and not many goyfs (well, for them).

    Cheers

Amazing how so many people still believe this nonsense. They obviously don't have 0 Confidants in stock, they're hoarding them and will re-stock with a higher price. It's really not difficult to notice this pattern. They were out of stock of Jace the Mind Sculptor, and next thing you know they had 40+ copies at $150. Do you think they just suddenly acquired those at once?

Just heard from a semi-vendor friend there that SCG is buying out every Goyf and Bob at retail @ the GP, and because of it people are already raising the prices to $70 for Bob and $185 for Goyf. For the sake of Magic's longevity stop buying from SCG, tell your friends to stop buying from SCG, stop using them as a price guide, etc. They are a cancer to the market.

if you have a wide variety of cards you don't need to price your cards low. look at ChannelFireball (and numerous other sellers), they have 50k+ sales on tcgplayer and rarely go below the mid price on anything.

What do you guys think the ceiling on the wurm is? I wish I stayed up last night to preorder them when they were $3, but I was able to get them for $5.

They were never $3. eBay started them at $5, SCG and CF at $4. I think the realistic ceiling is $15ish. It's likely going to be $10~$15, jumping when it sees play in the PT.
