I like these mechanics that make you work to activate game text. Threshold, 7 cards in the grave. Hellbent, empty hand (my favorite mechanic ever), and Metalcraft, 3 artifacts on the board. I wonder if they'll change the Metalcraft conditions too, or just keep it at 3.
According to the articles today, this won't be the only indestructible card in the set, and it won't be the only equipment in the set. It is, however, the only indestructible equipment.
So, Venser's ultimate is an "emblem", like the updated Elspeth from DD. Does this mean that the emblem from Venser's ultimate continues to give you its benefit, even if Venser himself is gone?
The emblem will persist for the rest of the game. There is nothing in the game that can null it.
I find it most interesting that Venser lacks an affiliation watermark. Guess the theory of planeswalkers being exempt from the watermark rule, being "outsiders", was justified.
I've going to use this to keep track of the tokens that cards from Scars of Mirrodin can produce. Since they're not in the partial spoiler, thought I'd do something like this for others to reference. I like tokens.
When you add/update the partial spoiler linked on the top of the page, could you please add the card's affiliation in it? Be nice to look at it and be able to tell between Mirrodin and Phyrexia. Thanks!
I've had some thoughts about those fake 'purple' cards posted on Speculation a bit ago, the 'scar instant' Mana Drain in purple.
I've wondered if there was something interesting there. Cards that have purple frames but aren't actually 'purple' by game terms?
I'm thinking of maybe a new supertype 'Toxic' that works the same way as snow. Toxic mana costs can only be created by toxic permanents.

I choose 'toxic' in homage of the Scars of Mirrodin set - all the Toxic cards will refer to poison in some way.
The 'purple' cards come from this. If a card has toxic mana symbols in its mana cost but no other colors, it'll have a purple frame to show that it has to use toxic mana. I will use {P} to refer to toxic mana. The purple frame has no actual game meaning and the card will count as colorless.
For example:
Poisonous Counter 1{P}
Toxic Instant
(This card is colorless. {P} can be paid with one mana from a toxic permanent.)
As an additional cost to play Poisonous Counter, you get a poison counter.
Counter target spell.
Of course, toxic mana can be used in conjunction with others.
Toxic Blast R{P}
Toxic Instant
({P} can be paid with one mana from a toxic permanent.)
Infect
Choose one - Toxic Blast deals 3 damage to target creature, or Toxic Blast deals 2 damage to target player.
Toxic creatures can be fun too.

({P} can be paid with one mana from a toxic permanent.)

Cards will have normal-colored frames if they have colored mana in their costs. The purple will only show up if there's ONLY toxic mana in their mana costs. A toxic artifact will have purple text boxes but normal artifact frame.
Would it deal 2 damage to opponent as poison, then poisonous 3 from the aura kicks in and delivres 3 more poison?
