That looks like a card you'd see in a custom card creation thread. :p

Very nice, though. I do wish it would have costed 1R and be a 2/1, just for the sake of mirroring Snapcaster Mage.

Wizards showing they really don't want to complete the powerful 2 mana creature cycle :/ such biasness. I seriously doubt this would be insane if it was 2 mana

You also get multiples of several of those (Counterspell, Promenade) plus around 70 other $1 cards. More like $220-280 depending on your area.

Yes Yes yes we get it you get your moneys worth. However the only reason those cards are so expensive is because the duel decks that make up anthology had such a short run. Akroma, Angel of Wrath would be a lot less if Divine vs Demonic had sold a lot more. Do you imagine expect zugos helmsmasher to go into the $20? No cause speed vs cunning and khans have massive print runs in comparison.

I really don't care about value what I care about is how they are playing this product up to be a great x mas buy or a chance for players to get hold of something they might have never gotten the first time due to numerous reasons. Yet the products pricing and the insane store allocation means no one is going to get hold of this. Ill be surprised if I manage to get 1 of these let alone 4.

I spoke to my LGS and from the sounds of things they will be getting no where near enough to satisfy demand.

Quite disappointed, especially given there is no real reason behind this not being printed to demand. I know my store was happy to sell as many as they could keeping customers happy and profiting from the experience.

Damn if you raise the price and damn if you sell at MRSP, in the end no one is happy. The people buying it feel ripped off, the people who didn't get it feel annoyed at the shop and the shop that could of made $100 selling 10 pieces of 10 only make $80 for selling 1 piece at $80.

Its weird wizard choses to do this product this way given they know how well duel decks sell and they can compare it with sales and feedback of things like from the vault and the shameful commanders arsenal. I suppose Wizards want people to rather order online at places like Luis Scott Varge to secure their product rather than hope there local game store will have enough.

i'm gonna pick this up simply for the fixer-upper quality of the decks.

$100 on a fixer up deck?

Then again Im going to get 4 cause its the only magic product I spend money on. Guess I am going to have to raid every store in South Africa to get atleast 1. Wish the print run wasn't so limited else they really should of just called this, from the vault Duel Decks. Featuring 15 of the best cards from Magic's duel deck product line. Now for a limited time get your hands on that Demonic tutor or 14 alt artwork islands.

Still could of had 4 dice but ill take the 2 dice with hopefully the duel deck symbols on it and the 35 tokens are never a bad thing.

So what they said about allowing people who never got their hands on this product in the first place is a lie? Since it seems like only the most wealthiest of collectors will be willing to shell out $150 required by most shops.

I don't see all that resemblance, aside from the fact that they're both huge dragons, like me and you are both humans.

Ugin is turquoise and has feathery wings. Nicol bolas is of a golden-orange color and has bat-like wings.
And the horns are different: Ugin has flattened, almost buffalo-like horns; Bolas' are smooth, high and have that levitating ball in beetwen.

There was some small "family" resemblance.. For me, it's the horns despite the differences you have pointed out.. I guess I was expecting something different from a colorless dragon.. I do like the wings though..

For me its the body, both share upright humanoid positions, the body shape is sleek at best. Most other dragons in magic do not have a humanoid pose to them.

Horns while difference shape are still long and pointed. Notice the similar neck line as well. Also they both have goatee type beards.

Most likely he's an Elder Dragon from a group based on the wedges (Nicol Bolas' group was shards' colours). I'm guessing he's WUR.

Would make sense if he is these colors considering, Ghostfire " the eye of Ugin" and the whole Jeskia eye of the dragon parallel thing going on and simply replacing the B with W

There is most likely some relationship between the 2 dragons else Wizards wouldn't have made them so similar in look.

Found this on mothership. Looks a lot like Nicol Bolas to me.

    edit:
"Sarkhan Vol has arrived just in time to save Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. "
We'll get a colorless planeswalker next set. This means Bolas is going to be there too?

    This is Ugin.

Different wings than Bolas (featherlike), different horns than Bolas (different angle, ridged, no gem between). It is the same dragon that is bothering Sarkhan at one of the pics and speculated to be Ugin.

To point out , the artwork with the red dragon bothering him was confirmed to be Ugin during the Pax world building event. Clearly Wizards is trying to be deceiving and I am pretty sure the look of Ugin will relate to how he and Bolas get along (spoiler, not very well)

I like how wizards gives Ugin and Bolas the same look, making people think they are kinda twins I guess you could save but also hiding the fact of Ugins return.

Just from the Pax Panel , the return to Zendikar is screaming off its lungs right now.

I will also say, so far the art direction and the styling has been fantastic, Khans of Tarkir is looking to be one of the best looking sets in terms of artwork. (subjective of course)

Just my 2 cents to echo the chorus of people.

Outlast : this just screams development had issues, it would be an ok mechanic if it wasn't at sorcery speed. I guess its decent in constructed.

Prowess : probably the nicest mechanic, might see tournament play depending on what cantrips there are.

Delve : Not impressed by what I have seen so far , but considering dredge was powerful, I wouldn't be surprised if this had a few very good spiky cards.

Raid: a nice mechanic, simply, again will likely see tournament play depending on what other cards there are.

    ferocious: boring

I have to say I am not in awe of these mechanics, Return to Ravnica had some very cool ones like overload or populate. These just seem to be very boring. Hopefully Monday will give some decent cards with the mechanics else the most exciting thing in this set is sadly the fetch lands.

I have to say I am 3 out of the 5 mechanics are just ...triggers, if this then do this.

And what I don't get from that article is how he goes on about how sticking an ability from three colours on one card does not make a satisfying wedge card, and then goes to show Zurgo Helmsmasher as ''our current thinking on how to get wedges to work in modern-day Magic". Zurgo who is basically exactly the strap together card...

This is exactly what I thought when I read the article, too. First, he holds up Lightning Angel as an example of how they shouldn't regularly do wedge mechanics, and then he shows Zurgo which does the same thing. You can literally point to each ability and assign it to a single color.

Ok so he maybe doesn't have that great of a understand when it comes to design but he did do speed vs cunning and look what a great product that was ..... oh wait yeah he isn't my favorite magic employee at the moment. I don't see a problem with assigning 3 different things based on color, just as long as the whole set isn't as linear.

The cheapest eldrazi with annihilator is 8 mana. If you let your opponent resolve an 8 mana creature then untap with it, you deserve to lose. Annihilator is a perfectly well-designed, balanced mechanic.

If old spaghetti dad only came down after people had been playing lands for 15 turns... and I were playing a blue deck to start with... I still couldn't counter it.

So yeah, no... I never want to see another Eldrazi in a Standard set. Ever.

An argument could be made for them needing a reprint at some point of course, though Standard isn't the only vehicle for that, but personally I'm perfectly fine with banning them in every format ever as an alternative.

They are only ever cheated into play into formats where there are a ton of other unfair decks. The eldrazi are not oppressive in any format. Did they even see play in their standard? I don't remember there being a way to cheat them into play.

I Believe polymorph was legal during a time. Even if the EEldrazi are oppressive, they are designed like that. There a variety of spells that can deal with eldrazi. If I am honest The sun titancycle was way more oppressive in standard that giant Timmy cards.

It seems so weird that they have not spoiled the winter set name by now that i think it will not be Dragons of Tarkir. Maybe, just maybe, the title of that set is a spoiler in itself that they don't want to spoil it. I've been thinking about a name such as Ugin[UGN] or something that has Ugin in its name.
It is possible that Dragons of Tarkir is the spring set which will mirror the first set to a certain degree (ofc not Wedges).
For the second set I am going to go with the possibility of a full-on colorless theme. It can easily tie two draft environments.

I for one hope the set will be called Enter the Ugin

Also hope we get a cycle of colorless mana spells like ghostfire

Art number 3 makes me think we will see a similar cycle to that of the
Emberstrike Duo , Safehold Duo , Thistledown Duo, Gravelgill Duo, Tattermunge Duo
