Alright another wave of changes:
+2 Spellskite in the Mainboard
-2 Spellskite in the Sideboard
-2 Sword of War and Peace in the Mainboard
+1 Sword of War and Peace in the Sideboard
-2 Timely Reinforcements in the Mainboard
+1 Timely Reinforcements in the Sideboard
+1 Midnight Haunting in the Mainboard
+1 Negate in the Mainboard
Overall the Timely Reinforcements has been bad in the opposing control matches and even against some other sort of psudo agro decks that dont stack creatures everywhere. I have enough creature support in this deck that it has on occasion been sort of tough to utilize. It is into stricly sideboard now.
Sword of War and Peace has been feeling lacking with how many infect oriented decks are out there... even decks that just kill with nexus so I am pushing one into the SB in case I feel it is still necessary but I haven't been thrilled by it of late.
The Spellskites give me more blockers and a misdirect option which I want to try out mainboard for a bit and see how it goes. I like how it can redirect pump effects so we will see how that goes down. Worst case it is a decent wall. I also like keeping my creature curve decent so I can utilize Moorland Haunt

It is hard to come up with a new spin on a commander as most of them out there have either been done to death or totally suck. As cool as Lim-Dûl the Necromancer is he costs tons of mana and at which point you might as well just run Maga, Traitor to Mortals as your wincon as once you get above 5 mana you have to have a lot of ramp to really try to utilize your commander.
If you wanted to do a jund deck you could also consider Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund as he is a bit of a different spin on a dragon legend. -
Oct 13, 2011ISBPathfinder posted a message on U/W Sword Control (Standard)I have a few changes to make to the list and I think you are right on the Think Twice. I am going to make the following changes:Posted in: ISBPathfinder Blog
-3 Forbidden Alchemy
+3 Think Twice
-4 Invisible Stalker sadly he wasnt doing as much as I had sort of wanted from him in this list. I am moving this to be a bit more control and token spawning.
+2 Midnight Haunting
+2 Day of Judgment
-1 Moorland Haunt the creature curve in the list has been going down plus having 2 in play isnt very productive.
+1 Inkmoth Nexus
SIDEBOARD CHANGES
-2 Divine Offering I feel like Revoke Existance is just going to be better going forward. The ability to strip O Rings and the fact that the rez decks cannot recur the target is good. Plus I still have plenty of occasional Wurmcoil Engines that wander past in my playgroup.
-1 Spellskite I dont see this card as highly neccesary in most cases. It is a nice wall vs agro but I already have a lot of agro hate.
+3 Surgical Extraction grave hate. I dont know how much I expect to run into Solar Flare in my own meta currently but we will see I suppose.
With these latest changes I guess the sword count and types are sort of on stand by. I might end up dropping the swords down to 3 as the creature curve has been going down of late and I might want to bump it to 3x feast and famine. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
For anyone who hasnt been keeping up with the spoilers I will list his attributes below as I cant link to him since he isnt out yet.
Ezuri, Renegade Leader
Cost: 1GG
Type: Legendary Creature: Elf Warrior
Abilities:
G: Regenerate another target elf.
2GGG: Elf creatures you control get +3/+3 and trample until EOT.
P/T: 2/2
I had a thought of creating a deck using Kamahl, Fist of Krosa before but I like the flavor of Ezuri a bit more and also I dont have any tribal decks as I dont think they work out so well usually. But I am willing to give it a shot for this guy as I expect that I can fill in the cards I dont have for the deck for arround $50 or less so its also going to be a rather budget deck which I like. Here is what I have so far I will explain the strategy for what I picked so far. I have mainly concentrated on what creatures I want so far, I will have to cull it down quite a bit yet as I havent even looked into artifacts, enchantments, and for the most part my scorcery and instants.

OK Ok I know this is a fairly hard and dirty put together of the deck but I was hoping to get some more ideas.
If you want to post things like Gaea's Cradle and Survival of the Fittest, I know how good they would be in here but quite frankly I strongly despise spending more than $10 or $15 a card for EDH cards so while I understand when I get the time and money yes I will put them in here please don't bother listing cards that are over $20 on average to acquire.
As far as why did I pick the strategy I have here well I suppose it comes down to who I play against. I currently have the only counterspell deck in our pool so vs blue is currently not my worries. However one of my opponents runs 10 wrath the board cards in one of his edh decks so I quite frankly have to anticipate rebuilding quite a lot here. I like reusable effects and strategies that I can use with 3-4 elves tops. I really wont be able to get off many more than that between wrathing effects which I know will make this a much harder playgroup to run a tribal deck but its cheap and looks like it could be fun. Let me know if you have any suggestions for what should go in yet.
And ya... I know this is gona be quite a ways over 100 cards at the moment. I need to do some culling but also want ideas for what else to add.
Secondly it really depends on what you want to run as your general. If you want to run black / green for this rats deck as I have seen often then there are a few other good picks. Aluren allows you to instant cast your rats for free to boot. Very nice to combo off of the thrumming stone. Bloodbond March rezes all your rats everytime you drop another one. This makes the deck viable vs wrathing opponents. Plus if you want you can run Necropotence with bloodbond march for a hilarious effect as you draw into a tonnnnn of cards just to discard the rats and rez them all with one.
Lastly I would say this. Run all of the black tutors you can get your hands on. Also run the transmute cards, the one for 5 mana, Brainspoil can retrieve thrumming stone. The transmutes for 2, 3, and 4 mana can retrieve your tutors who can then go and get your thrumming stone. This deck is all about how quickly can I get the thrumming stone.
4 Student of Warfare
2 Elite Vanguard
4 Kazandu Blademaster
4 White Knight
4 Stoneforge Mystic
3 Emeria Angel
4 Baneslayer Angel
4 Honor of the Pure
3 Oblivion Ring
ARTIFACTS
2 Trusty Machete
1 Sword of Vengeance
PLAINSWALKERS
3 Gideon Jura
LAND
3 Marsh Flats
19 Plains
4 Leyline of Sanctity
4 Kor Firewalker
4 Kor Sanctifiers
3 Devout Lightcaster
Let me know if you have any suggestions for change. My current playgroup is a bit odd we dont have many extremely competative decks in it. We have a few running a black controll type, Plenty of RDW decks, and some White / Blue jank control (they run like enchantment oriented control decks its odd). One of the big issues I have been running into so far is some guy who runs mono green weenie. He ends up activating Beastmaster Ascension turn 4 or 5 quite often for a you loose in one turn. He also will drop Eldrazi Monument on occasion which I have a hard time dealing with as I dont run enough flyers to block his first assult and white currently lacks instant speed artifact destruction.
The Baneslayers and Giddeon plainswalkers are a bit slower than I like but I cant believe how many times someone will be turning a game around and they end up making the game for me. The whole 22 lands can sometimes be an issue but I hate overdrawing them and 5 is the most I ever need so it works out ok. I know I need more of the fetchlands when I can get more but thats for me to worry about later.
Originally I ran only the Sword of Vengeance for equipments but I found that they are usually slower than I want. I run one of them in case it ends up being a slow game and I am fetching an equip.

I agree with the not being very good at 1v1 but the way Zur is worded, he doesn't really target with his enchants. Its kinda cheap. You can check the ruling on it at gatherer.
http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=121162
Also I for one don't care for too many Dark Confidant effects in a deck. I know they are nice as they are reusable card draw but something like Promise of Power, Ambition's Cost, and Ancient Craving can be decent as well as they draw several cards for a set amount of life loss. I guess I just dont care for the Dark Tutelage much as what do you do when its in play and you are at low life? You mainly just die. Sure you might get that nev disk off to save yourself but I have seen my buddy die a lot to tutalage.
If you want one more means of killing off enchants you could add in All is Dust.
Hateflayer This guy works great on overly huge creatures and indestructible targets.
Scourge of Kher Ridges This guy wraths the rest of the board all the time but he doesn't die himself to his own abilities making him really ridiculous board control
Living Inferno reusable utility killer. It makes it very difficult to play much.
Also dont underestimate the effect of a Worldly Tutor or Congregation at Dawn as you can stack up your deck and activate your general essentially bringing whatever creature you need directly into play.
Ahh my bad I suppose that does work. A thought for a card for when they bounce/kill Chainer would be to run something like Spawning Pit as you can sac all the minions b4 it resolves to keep some of the creatures in yards to target for when he comes back.
Just wanted to mention the fact that you cannot rez any of the big eldrazi as when the big 3 hit the graveyard they shuffle your yard back into the deck. So dont run them at all in your deck as you dont want to loose your gy targets.
Here they are so you can see the text on them Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
I repeat do not run them in the deck as they are a HUGE hindrance if they manage their way into your yard.
Graveyard tutoring is nice with him Buried Alive, Entomb, and Corpse Connoisseur
Another great card would be Moonlight Bargain as you dont have to pay any life for the creatures, just let them hit the yard. You can pay for the noncreature cards you want and just rez the creatures into play.
All the basic black tutors should be fine. Assuming you dont have unlimited resources just go with Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Tutor, and Beseech the Queen.
A splash of Dredge would be nice. I would suggest running Golgari Thug and Stinkweed Imp but I dont know if I would go any further beyond that.
What you said makes sense. I still have a tough call on the Scion copying as they state on gatherer that if you try to clone a clone you will copy the original target of the first clone. However there is the issue with Scion that he is only temporarily another dragon so I am wondering if I the clone would become a copy of the current dragon also copying the ability that it becomes Scion again at the end of turn. I know clones don't retain abilities like counters or tapped but this one is a brain buster.
That seems like its only doing what his general already does. Granted you cant always count on having your general all the time still... Not doing anything his deck doesn't already have.
Into the Roil and or Evacuation might be fun to run.
Humm interesting. However I looked up what ruling I could get on Gatherer and its copying effect does go off before it actually hits play as it is able to trigger coming into play effects. Anyone else have a viewpoint on how it works?
