Alright another wave of changes:
+2 Spellskite in the Mainboard
-2 Spellskite in the Sideboard
-2 Sword of War and Peace in the Mainboard
+1 Sword of War and Peace in the Sideboard
-2 Timely Reinforcements in the Mainboard
+1 Timely Reinforcements in the Sideboard
+1 Midnight Haunting in the Mainboard
+1 Negate in the Mainboard
Overall the Timely Reinforcements has been bad in the opposing control matches and even against some other sort of psudo agro decks that dont stack creatures everywhere. I have enough creature support in this deck that it has on occasion been sort of tough to utilize. It is into stricly sideboard now.
Sword of War and Peace has been feeling lacking with how many infect oriented decks are out there... even decks that just kill with nexus so I am pushing one into the SB in case I feel it is still necessary but I haven't been thrilled by it of late.
The Spellskites give me more blockers and a misdirect option which I want to try out mainboard for a bit and see how it goes. I like how it can redirect pump effects so we will see how that goes down. Worst case it is a decent wall. I also like keeping my creature curve decent so I can utilize Moorland Haunt

It is hard to come up with a new spin on a commander as most of them out there have either been done to death or totally suck. As cool as Lim-Dûl the Necromancer is he costs tons of mana and at which point you might as well just run Maga, Traitor to Mortals as your wincon as once you get above 5 mana you have to have a lot of ramp to really try to utilize your commander.
If you wanted to do a jund deck you could also consider Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund as he is a bit of a different spin on a dragon legend. -
Oct 13, 2011ISBPathfinder posted a message on U/W Sword Control (Standard)I have a few changes to make to the list and I think you are right on the Think Twice. I am going to make the following changes:Posted in: ISBPathfinder Blog
-3 Forbidden Alchemy
+3 Think Twice
-4 Invisible Stalker sadly he wasnt doing as much as I had sort of wanted from him in this list. I am moving this to be a bit more control and token spawning.
+2 Midnight Haunting
+2 Day of Judgment
-1 Moorland Haunt the creature curve in the list has been going down plus having 2 in play isnt very productive.
+1 Inkmoth Nexus
SIDEBOARD CHANGES
-2 Divine Offering I feel like Revoke Existance is just going to be better going forward. The ability to strip O Rings and the fact that the rez decks cannot recur the target is good. Plus I still have plenty of occasional Wurmcoil Engines that wander past in my playgroup.
-1 Spellskite I dont see this card as highly neccesary in most cases. It is a nice wall vs agro but I already have a lot of agro hate.
+3 Surgical Extraction grave hate. I dont know how much I expect to run into Solar Flare in my own meta currently but we will see I suppose.
With these latest changes I guess the sword count and types are sort of on stand by. I might end up dropping the swords down to 3 as the creature curve has been going down of late and I might want to bump it to 3x feast and famine. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Another function I found extremely useful was blue card draw that included discard. This way I could throw a bunch of artifact threats away to rez later and go for more cards. Ancestral Memories works great, Fact or Fiction is amazing, Careful Consideration is nice, and also Tolarian Winds is amazing for such effects.
Plus there is the upside that Sharuum has a few infinite combo auto wins such as Sculpting Steel copying Sharuum for an infinite loop of legendary creature death / resurect that activates things like Disciple of the Vault and or Arcbound Crusher gaining infinite counters on it.
I understand if you just dislike Sharuum or prefur the triplets over him but I just wanted to point out that Sharuum is generally more competative and a very similar build style.
I would also keep an eye on how Rule of Law ends up working out for you. Generally speaking it seems to be more of a slow deck card as when you play your one spell of a 2/2 and they play their one spell of a 6/6 you will be loosing late game.
Second of all I know it really in the longrun doesnt cost you a card but you are running an agro deck, Wall of Omens has no offensive capability and its not large enough to stop much in EDH. Personally I dont think it has a spot in the deck.
Swap the Pacifism out for an Arrest as its the same but has the bonus of shutting down utility generals.
As far as the enchants go.... I personally think most of these should be axed.
Honor the Pure is for white weenie swarm decks. In EDH you arent going to get the number of creatures on the board to do said swarming.
Battle Mastery When they blow your general up you just lost 2 cards to one. Thats a fail. Swap these offensive auras out for more equipment or just something else.
Griffin GuideSame as above. The griffin out of this is not that great. I would cut this one too.
Daybreak Coronet..... you realize you already need the creature enchanted to put this on in the first place. You dont have enough auras to make that reliable. This is a MUST go card.
Holy Strength This card is just terrible. Trusty Machete or Bonesplitter are just outright better as you dont loose them when they kill your general off.
Out of your offensive auras you might keep in the Armored Ascension as it is huge, and the Hyena Umbra as you arent loosing the creature when it dies. The downside is it doesnt stop sacrificing or exile. Also if someone drops prison term on him he will still be useless there.
Also I would swap your Demystify for Return to Dust
I also find Howling Mine to be plain terrible. It gives you no advantage over your opponent.
Finally a good creature for you to add would be Eight-and-a-Half-Tails as he can use up spare mana late game, protect your general, and even allow your general have protection from their creatures thus unblockable.
Ohhh good call. I didnt even really think of it since I was running so few non swamp land.

Sorry if my card count is off by a few but I letrally came up with that list from memory as I dont have the deck in front of me. I have tested it a bit and it has done very will so far in my small group but I would love some suggestions.
This is the first deck that I am posting here so sorry if I mess it up a bit. Please give me feedback on the cards. Also if the card you are suggesting is more than $20 please don't bother as I do have a budget and I feel that I am just wasting money spending more than that on a single card.
I am already assuming I will hear the suggestion Necropotence and all I can say is that I just am not a huge fan. Yes it is good but no I don't like it.
UPDATE: OHHHHH forgot to say. I am using the EDH rules on the oficial website found here. http://www.dragonhighlander.net/rules.php
I for one would actually trade the War Priest of Thune out for Kor Sanctifiers as the Kor guys can hit artifacts as well and the War Priest usually just sits in your hand until they drop an enchant so paying an extra 2 mana to hit it shouldnt be much of an issue.
Emeria, the Sky Ruin is a card that you should definately make room for. It wont always be important but when it does kick in its amazing.
OOOO and Steelshaper Apprentice is another good one. I feel like you could use the extra creatures.
And i'm just not sure why you use Mawcor . Its just an odd card that I don't see much synergy with the deck. If you are looking for another flyer maybe add a Sphinx of Jwar Isle
You might also enjoy Spelljack.
The bottom line is I dont understand how your general's casting cost is affected by how many times you have cast him. I am assuming that once he is in play you take the mana cost of the card as the mana cost and while the card is on the stack coming into play you take what you payed for it as the mana cost. But realistically I have no clue how it works. Please let me know how this ruling works.
