Hey whats up long time since posting, I have been formulating a deck centered around the new morbid mechanic. I figured blood pet, etc, would be the perfect match up and with festerhide boar I figure the deck could be taken in an aggro/stompy direction with say rancor/unholy strength or something. I'm not sure to go with mono black or black/green for the boars, there arn't many cards with this ability, which makes me want to include red for brimstone volley pretty much alone. That and red lends itself well to the sac archatype.
here are my thoughts so far. I feel the main weak points are lack of removal, creature dependance, lack of draw power, you name it. anyway:
unfortunately, M10 hosed that, now the "owner" of a creature token is the player who controls it, on of those changes where the logic was "Well, it seems like cheating, so we're gonna make it so it IS cheating, so that way... yeah. Also, mogg fanatic". I'm pretty sure the owner of a non-token creature or card is still the player who's deck it started in (essentially), otherwise my Lich's mirror deck would be all about stealing my opponent's permanents.
you want juxtapose it would be perfect especially with stuffy doll, other than that looks like a fun deck, maybe some more genero red/blue like lightning bolt or unsummon, especially to hold up those first two turns while you get to 2-3 mana without accell. For that matter, perhaps add some accell (signet or something).
Fill out the rest of the creatures with various birds and bird-token producers (Battle Screech) and the Aerie will get nasty. Even include multiples for even more pumping fun!
Ajani Goldmane is begging to be used in a deck that is heavily white and aggro.
This is an interesting idea as I was putting together another deck right now comboing soulcatcher's aerie and ***, maybe I could combine the two decks...
I was about to type up a UWR deck list for the egg deck, but nothing really popped to mind. Suggestions? 8 of the 12 green cards mentioned in the last deck list are mana accell, so I don't know what to replace them with.
Mind bomb was brought up, I'm pretty sure "out of color pie" was a set theme for the dark, albeit the color pie was anything but set in stone at the time anyway... if I were you I would examine the whole set. Like you said, though, can be expensive...
How about cards that are reprints (or near reprints) of cards previously a different color? I've always thought these cards were interesting. Kami of false hope (spore frog) and rite of consumption (fling... but better) are two that come to mind quickly.
lol I wasn't even thinking about comboing blood cultist with skeleton, I just thought skeleton would cause the need for recurring answers to show up for your opponnent as the game would be stalled at 3 mana so a 1/1 would still be a threat, on that note also isochron scepter, and yes shivan wumpus would be perfect (plus I already have them).
I figured the rules question was a no, I only brought it up because most other cards that do similar things would say "the next time" I thought. Soul foundry is nice, but I fear expensive, I was thinking of going 5 color or splasing blue for seaside haven, as card advantage is the ultimate. Keldon Necropolis and Spawning pit I definably like, I was originally thinking Doom cannon but I forgot it costs 6 so maybe fodder cannon for effective removal. Thanks for the good advice on life gain, but believe me, I'm explaining the same thing to new players all the time (soul link).
*EDIT* Ehhhhhhh soul foundry not too expensive picked em up
memrocide is siiiiiick pretty much the ultimate step in similar cards (beyond lowering the mana cost: liliana's caress). Is it what prompted you to make the deck? The main thing I see is: no Sadistic Sacrament? You could do mesmeric fiend instead of sculler. I can see the role of telepathy, but I think 4 may be excessive. Extirpate (expensive tho), and planar void would fit plus an effective mill like mind funeral. Other than that, the scalpel-like precision of some genero doomy spot removal would be nice. And a win con other than "play 20 of the theme cards in my cards out of my deck" would help with the competitiveness. I would go with something like this:
I've been aquiring cards for a while now to make a real-world version of a deck I really liked in Microprose: Magic (the oldschool magic computer game that now has updates for newer cards!). The deck played Rukh egg and sacraficed it to Diamond valley, then recurred the egg via animate dead etc to be sacraficed over and over. Heck I'll just type it up.
The power of the deck is to provide consistent chump blockers, beef flyers, lifegain, and removal all at the same time (virtually). The only problem with recreating it is that diamond valley is a 100$ card. Luckily, animal boneyard fulfills the same requirement with only a slight loss to tempo, as diamond valley essentially hoses your land for a turn. Furthermore, Saffi Eriksdotter and angelic renewal nearly remove the need for black as reanimation. Slight tangent: does the text of saffi eriksdotter imply that EVERY TIME the targeted creature would go to the graveyard that turn it would return to play, not just the first time? If so infinite combo heaven could be achieved with a sac outlet and a CIP or LP ability involving damage... anyway here's the deck:
Thoughts? I think it could probably use some more mana accell, but I haven't received the cards or proxied the deck yet so I don't know how the new version plays.
I've been kicking around a deck idea for a while based on BR aggro rush + BR equivalent LD (raze, army ants, tremble). The aggro section of course writes itself and is only variable based on budget (goblin guide, lightning bolt, hellfire elemental). In case further explanation is needed, aggro section is cheap 1 - 3 cost (more like 1-2 cost) cards that beat face and enable you to activate the equivalent land destruction every time you have 3 lands (plus play something else, or LD at 2). It's time for everyone to kick down a deck! May the best deck win... nothing. But... (incredibly ephemeral) recognition! yes.. that's the ticket...
hey maybe use spoiler tags
*EDIT* AGGGHHHH that's what I get for looking at a forum other than casual... one interesting idea makes me look like an idiot..... MOD HELP AGGGGG
*EDIT* Thanks, might as well throw down my own current concept:
The main obstacle I ran into was that the aggro section, as it turned out, was a little more difficult to construct than a standard BR aggro deck simply because with so many slots going to LD, the aggro section ended up being a little less aggro and a little more about staying power (besides staples blightning and lightning bolt). This is why I figure blood cultist is perfect for the deck, she just chills and keeps most any creatures your opponent can cast with 2-3 land dead (other than against green) and meanwhile gets way bigger than aforementioned creatures and stomps them by hand. Lava runner should probably be replaced with some tek, I just wanted there to be a little one-sided LD in the deck. Besides that, my deck I'm sure could use a lot more improvement, after I wrote that sentence I added the lands to the deck, mainly for the manland, sheltered valley because it came up in the gatherer and it fits nicely into the deck, the duals are there primarily for good measure (Akoum Refuge just for the constant lifegain with crucible of worlds, but the CIP tapped might be too bad in this instance, and lifegain is fairly pointless... but it could actually be kind of nice for this deck, same with sheltered valley). Crucible, of course, being the obvious choice for and against the deck, could warrant artifact destruction in the sideboard, which, also should probably exist. I'm sure star compass could be replaced with a less crap card, it's just there as I figure a little permanent non-land mana wouldn't hurt so I could sac down to two (or one) land less painfully (Rakdos Signet).Oh yeah, I put in the Simian spirit guides to keep it aggro.
elvish farmer (or Mycologist) plus lich for the card draw combo of doom (plus tons of saps to sac... may need more consideration). I would go with elvish farmer because I'm pretty sure white is probably the standard color to go to beside lich.
My main point is that while the amazing cards are bannably amazing (Metalworker, Sol Ring, Vampiric Tutor, etc.) the actual Pentavus combo is unwieldy and unreliable to me, and the amazing Metalworker could be put to better use with a more solid combo.
This describes my timmy strategy to a t: come up with a wacky combo out of sub-par cards for casual, try to get the deck to work via awesome cards. A noble pursuit, if you ask me.
Yes I actually already picked up the mimeomancers because they were cheap (and cool) but I'm not sure if they go into the deck (my deck). This may seem like a noob question, but due to the strange wording of mimeomancer it almost seems that the 3/1 designation would trump any pump applied to the creature, I'm almost positive it wouldn't work that way though, or mimeomancer would have a dual use of limiting the power (and especially toughness) of opponents creatures (and would combo very well with tims).
The combo with mimeomancer I would exploit in your deck would be Kangee, as his counters are also "feather counters", you could continually upgrade your birds, even if you didn't play him with his expensive kicker in the first place.
Lol well maybe you don't want to bump but the deck seems pretty standard in the elfdrazi archetype google your combo (tooth and nail eldrazi) and compare to other decks that will surely be easy to find.
