Heya, I just noticed that the foreignNames field is no longer present in AllCards-X.json. How come? It was populated by the latest translation before and now it is completely missing. Frown Can you please add it back to AllCards-X?
I just need to know the translated name of each card and don't care about in which set it was translated / not translated. Smile

    Hi,
first of all thanks a lot for the great work - I will definitely use this in one of my upcoming projects!
However, I noticed some issues with the hybrid mana symbols. I went ahead and opened an issue on GitHub, as well as a pull request with a proposed fix.

    Cheers. Smile

So, are there any further plans to keep this cube up-to-date with the latest sets or has it been abandoned? Smile

Why don't you run Cabal Coffers? With that many Swamps and even Urborg already in the deck, it would improve your mana base quite a bit. Wink

Hey Trov, I talked with the people from MCM who built the API and it's on the list of features that are coming soon, so I have to stick to the "average" price for now, unfortunately. But thanks for the feedback! Smile

Yes, MagicCardMarket (where I pull the prices from) recently changed their API, I'll have to update the code and fix it. Smile

I don't know. The reason for an offline database is for trades happening while you go to a tournament. Perhaps you need more than two sets. Is the whole db so big? Maybe without the pictures? If you have a only a list for offline use, i think it's allright. If you want pictures you need to be online.

The problem is, that it's simply not possible to batch-update dozens of sets whenever somebody wants to have the prices offline. The APIs I'm using are throttled, so if I went ahead and grabbed a couple of thousand card prices whenever someone wants to get the data for offline usage, I'd probably lose access pretty fast. :/ Not sure what I could do about that. Keeping all 30k cards with updated prices isn't something that I can do at the moment, but as soon as I can, I'll put in an offline mode for sure. Smile

I feel like caching the prices is not really that good because prices can change over the course of a day and they might not be accurate. Trust me, I'm sure the TCG servers can handle a few hundred fetch requests a day, they are designed to handle that.

You're probably right - currently it's cached for 7 days since I was initially using a custom built crawler to fetch the prices. I guess lowering it to 24 hours won't hurt. I'll make the change today.

Hey veder, thanks for the info, looks like I missed the Gateway promo version of Pathrazer. I added it now. Smile Seems to have been a bug indeed.

I considered making an offline version of the app, too, but the problem is, that it's just too much data for caching. You'd need at least the huge list of prices (which I would need to fetch from MCM, too, since prices are only updated when someone looks them up on the tool) and probably the images as well. What I did plan at some point, though, would be an option to have one or two expansions ready for offline usage. You'd have to select them in advance and download the prices, after which you'd be able to look them up even without internet. How does that sound?

Quote, what's wrong with this? http://jsfiddle.net/skibulk/6BB8j/2/

The different DOM for the small image and the big image? Of course it's trivial to fake some borders if you know that you'll get a low-res image, but like I said, I use the pics in an app that generates HTML code on the fly, so I can't check whether I end up with a big or small image and adjust the HTML accordingly. I need to use the same code and CSS for both big and small images, and instead of performing a headstand with CSS / containers it would be a ton easier, not to mention more consistent behaviour (for an API), if I always got back the same resolution and proportions.

@quote - here's a quick example with css. You'll have to adjust the numbers to get the proper border size. http://jsfiddle.net/skibulk/6BB8j/

Thanks for your effort, but CSS is just not going to work here. :/ http://jsfiddle.net/6BB8j/1/
Especially when dealing with a responsive layout where the elements can't have a fixed width / height but must only have a max-width / max-height to constrain proportions. I guess I'll just have to accept that the unscanned images will look strange next to those with the right dimensions.

I know, I know, but CSS won't be able to fix the different borders...

I have a small request: in order to embed these images directly into a website it would be necessary, that all images are returned with rougly the same size / proportions (ie. of border-width to card-width). Could you return "low-res" cards from (yet) unscanned sets like BNG in the same upscaled resolution and with the same border width by default?
    Example: http://mtgimage.com/card/Hero of Iroas.jpg is 223x310 with a thick border while http://mtgimage.com/card/Heartless Summoning.jpg is 480x680 with a thinner border
It would be totally okay if they looked blurry due to manual resizing.

Minimum price is the first NM+ (or EXC+, if there are no NM+ offers in the first 10%) offer from a seller that has a good reputation (gold star or better) and no warnings, plus it has to be an English or German (since these are the 2 most popular languages) version of the card.
For average price, I apply the same criterias, but calculate the average among all offers that fit them. Average calculation also ignores offers that have a price of more than 5x the current average (which is usually altered art stuff or made-up fantasy prices)
