Wish I had more concrete data, I could go through all our stuff again to try to see what we opened, but honestly random is random, it's a little frustrating to open 10 boxes and miss on two of the biggest mythics but that's why it's random! =)
This sounds like way too much headache for the TO. First you need a working computer for each player, and then you have to check every deck to it's physical cards, and then make sure players can't edit their deck, and keep track of players cards, plus etc. Way to much work. In addition, there are a ton of players, including myself, that enjoy the tactile feel of playing paper magic. I play MTGO as well, but paper magic is a completely different experience.
Been magic awhile but just got to a new city. I used to play in Oklahoma City, but have since moved to Atlanta, GA..
Was hoping maybe someone here could point me to a good store to play Magic at in the Atlanta area...I thought this place was supposed to have a huge community, but if it's here it's hiding very well.
Anywho formal hello, look forward to some good discourse.
Hey Snoozems!
There are several great places to play in Atlanta or in the surrounding area.
The top four places I would look into playing at are the following:
Raven's Nest in Marietta: Fairly laid back, nice, and welcoming group, big FNMs, $5 entry payout to Top 8, they are starting to do bigger events like IQs and there is going to be a PTQ there next season.
Super Games in Alpharetta: The competitive scene in atlanta is here, the players are a more spikish and competitive, but that comes along with the territory, once you get to know them they are cool guys but most of the big events are held here. Sometimes they have vintage events but they have a free tournament on Wednesday (Legacy), Thursday (Modern), and Standard (Sunday) with $100 to first place.
Gaming Pit in Lilburn: I don't play here often but my friend does, seems like a fairly nice group of people, some nice tournaments from time to time and they have bigger events as well, if someone knows more feel free to chip in!
Triumph Games in Buford: Very laidback group as well, a fairly decent Commander Scene, they host a lot of TCG player events and IQs, free FNM with prizes awarded for 4-0 and 3-1 finishes, have their own tournament series with a biannual big money tournament you have to qualify for. Definitely a cool group.
If you have any more questions feel free to message me! There is also a facebook group called Atlanta Magic! They can definitely help you out!
I think this should say enough, I sideboarded into Battle of Wits against my round one opponent after I won game one. His start was Tormented Soul into Knight of Infamy on the play. I won at 2 life on t6. = )
Did you consider putting up things(or moving them into another room) that were valuable to you (aka your Magic Cards) before letting people come into your house to paint your room? With paint. That could potentially get everywhere. And ruin things. Like for example, magic cards.
I'm currently running 3 Relentless and 2 Primal Hunters and that feels right to me. Relentless helps fill the hole you get from not playing Green Sun's Zenith by being able to tutor up Primeval Titan and Elesh Norn while Primal Hunter can very very quickly clog up a board and either draw into more cards/answers/gas or force your opponent to over commit into a board wipe.
I've been play testing a lot and I would say the only matchup that I have had issues with is 4(5) Color Control. I'm not sure if they just drew hot (I've only been able to play against it twice) or if it is just really not a good matchup for WRW, the Phantasmal Images are just such a beating when you don't have a Day of Judgment or way to get rid of their Sun Titan that is also in play.
I agree with your earlier statement that it's not tuned for control, I'm not sure what exactly the backbreaking card against control is, I want to say Thrun, but considering lately I've only had terribad MWS matches to playtest against I'm not sure what is necessary to shore up that matchup. I like the addition of Wurmcoils in the main. I'm just very hesitant about playing BoP in a format actively preying on X/1 creatures, even if it's just a single copy. How did Sword of Body and Mind work out for you? I've been thinking about sideboarding it but I am and was still unsure of it's effectiveness. Making the extra wolf seems important. Also I still favor a Karn Liberated over 1 Elesh Norn in the main. If you are able to resolve him, I think it becomes extremely hard to lose the game. But I guess the same argument could be made for Elesh, she is just much easier to remove from the game.
Question, what about hero of bladehold? Heypharoah, I see that you run 2x blade splicer, and i'm wondering if anyone has tested hero yet?
I haven't tested hero yet but I dont think it fits in this build, all your creatures need to either do something when they come into play or when they leave play. Against aggro you want to play the control deck and blade splicer does that by buying you time with two bodies and a 3/3 first striker and a chump blocker.
Blade splicer is probably one of the first cards I would consider cutting from the main deck to round out the deck's control matchup.
How did you feel again Mono-B infect? My meta has a few players, would it be worth it to put in a mirran crusader or two into SB?
Hmm, I never played against MonoB Infect that day, but I'm used to playing against it with GW Aggro, I would say your matchup is pretty fair and better after board. Gideon Jura is just such a house that they have a lot of trouble dealing with, and you run 6~ (after board) board wipe spells and some artifact removal to hit their lashwriths and inkmoths. The flying is definitely annoying, but I think the match is mostly just a race to a board wipe.
Oh and I think Mirran might be too slow, your mana base is pretty strained as is and you don't always have double white t3 (which you need for max Crusader value in this matchup). I would rather be playing into a t3 Day of Judgment after your opponent commits something like a plague stinger and crusader/whispering specter to the board.

Great list and congrats.
Regarding UB control, what would you have sided out for the 3 Thruns, Veil and also possibly the 2 SoFaFs? Thanks.
Thanks haha, I literally made the list the night before. I had never played it before but I figured what the heck, seems positioned pretty well against a format of aggro decks. DoJ and Elesh are just such powerhouses against creature decks. Hmmm, most likely I would have done something like this:
-1 Elesh Norn (Dies too easily with little effect)
-2 Blade Splicer (Meh, really shines vs aggro, not so much versus control)
-1/2 Day of Judgment (Depends on their finishers)
Not sure what I would take out for the Swords, maybe 1 Sphere of the Suns? Or a Solemn. I personally lean towards the ramp and might not have brought the swords in. They were probably my least sideboarded in card all day. (Excluding Autumns Veil)
can you give some sideboard tips? (in/out, and why? - against the various architypes?)
The sideboard I ran here I think was suboptimal, but I'll list off what I side boarded and what cards I thought were lackluster.
Against other Wolf Run Decks: Generally this, although somewhat different depending on the build. Like against WRG you definitely need the 4th Day.
+1 Ancient Grudge
+1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
+1 Wurmcoil Engine
-1 White Sun's Zenith
-2 Blade Splicer
Against Illusions/UR Delver:
+1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
+1 Day of Judgment
+3 Timely Reinforcements
+1 Wurmcoil Engine (Although this card is more iffy against Illusions)
-1 White Sun's Zenith
-2 Beast Within
-1 Karn Liberated
-2 Garruk, Primal Hunter
Against UW Humans or GW Aggro:
Pretty much the same side boarding, although if they are planeswalker heavy sometimes you want to keep the Beast Withins in to kill planeswalkers and then day.
Against Tempered Steel:
Same sideboarding but you need to add in +2 Ancient Grudge
Against Control, didn't actually play against any control that day, but +3 Thrun, I haven't tested the veil enough to know if its good.

Is there a reason you like beast within over o-ring?
O-ring can get hit by an instant and blow you out where as beast within just destroys the problem permanent. I was planning on seeing no Solar Flare or decks that abused reanimating their graveyards so I didn't think exiling was that important. And when you are playing with Day of Judgment and Elesh Norn, those two cards pretty much negate any value your opponent gains from getting a Beast token. Plus it is an instant and allows you to make plays that you wouldn't be able to make with O-ring. = )
I am curious on how G/W Wolf Run fairs against Mono-Blue and U/R Delver builds. It looks like an auto loss. Any tips on the match up? Galvanic Blast in the G/W build makes the match up a lot more manageable.
Playing at the Charlotte Open on Saturday I played against I think 2-3 Illusions decks and a single UR deck in Round 8 splashing G for Flashback on Ancient Grudge. I actually prefer playing GW against those two decks, especially post board when you get access to Timely Reinforcements and a second Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Makes the match much much better in my opinion. Plus your creatures like Viridan Emissary and Solemn Simulacrum (And later Timely) forces the other player to over commit into a Day of Judgment and Elesh Norn acts as complete lock down with their only out being Vapor Snag after you wipe their field.
Buuut to save you a little time, I'll try to lay out all the combos I can think of out of my Ghave. Keep in mind that most combo pieces are interchangeable which gives Ghave a lot of resilience in attempting to combo off. Also sorry if there isn't any real semblance of order here, I'm just laying them out as I think of them haha.
Whew okay, my head is starting to spin, I hope this gave you some idea of the brokenness puzzle like death that is combo Ghave. Good luck to you! = )

Edit: Also here is my decklist, thought it might be helpful to you, mine is similar to Viper's but I don't have some of the tutors like Imperial Seal or Natural Order.
Hey Viper, I run a list very similar to yours and I was curious if you thought Melira, Sylvok Outcast had a place in here with all the persist creatures?
With her + Sac Outlet + Persist Creature = Infinite life (Kitchen Finks)/Infinite EtB triggers from opponents creatures (Puppeteer Clique)/Infinite destroy non-land permanents (Woodfall Primus).
I play three in my build Main Deck and I can't stress how much it has improved my Control Matchups, and really helps my deck from stumbling if they kill my mana dork and just puts a huge threat on board that you don't have to worry about until you crack it for 5+ myr.

Heh heh, what would Ghave be without combos? I would suggest taking an in depth look at this build by Viperesque (http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=330487) if combo is the route you want to go.
Buuut to save you a little time, I'll try to lay out all the combos I can think of out of my Ghave.
